Fire sale, lol. I love it. Never seen so many Skylanders days before during a yearly release. Whoever benefits from it, cool.

Good gravy, that is a Fire Sale. $30 starters and they give you two Eon's Elite? Combo packs (even new ones) half price? Gamestop isn't normally big on sales either.

they're probably attempting to cut into the onslaught of Infinity and Dimensions stuff releasing this month and it starts tomorrow with Judy and Nick, and a Infinity press conference. Whoevers getting down on these sales will surely benefit from what seems to be an act of desperation.

WOOO! I hope mine will have a Roller Brawl. I would like the 2 pack as she has the only cool vehicle of the entire series, but I will settle for a single to get a free Nightfall or Power Blue Splat. Oddly I've not seen Roller Brawl anywhere at any store locally. I hope the sale will be online, as I really feel I won't be finding any locally and she could be one of the super rare figs people will overprice on ebay in a few months.

And $30 Starters and get TWO free Elites? I just may do that as I only have a disc of the game, not the rest. I mean, I want a Ghost Roaster and Dino Rang but it seems amazing that they'll allow this deal on the newest ones. It's probably for the older ones right? It says $9.99 figs and I don't recall any Elite being that cheap. Last price I remember was $12.99 for the old ones and $19.99 newer ones. I know I can fight it if they give me a hassel, but I am not really the type that likes to inconvience anyone.

And don't forget to get your new poster. I'll have to ask for one instead of pulling the entire pile out of their dumpster a few weeks later. LOL

Something perhaps a little off topic is that I noticed that my local Walmart a couple days ago dug out a bunch of older series two Infinity figs and put them out at half price. And all of the Lego Dimension figs were marked down at half off and those stage packs $10 off as well. I think it's a sign that other stores are soon to follow on discounting toys to life stuff in general. I'm so in on a Lego Dimension starter if they decide to knock that price down to 30-40 dollars to match all these cheaper figs but sadly they didn't do that. I'm wondering if I should stock up on the cheap Lego figs that I'm interested in anyway. (Back to the Future, Doctor Who, etc)

So the Power Blues, he Easters, a poster, and now the Land Racing Action Pack? Oh man! This Skylander day is going to be huge!

This is the third time this year that Gamestop has gotten things before anywhere else, and the second time that one of those days has been a Skylander Day. First Frightful Fiesta, then Nightfall and Missile-Tow Dive-Clops, and now this.

Personally, I think it's awesome, because Gamestop is my favorite place to get Skylanders. I have 2 local places, and both of them are always on-point with their Skylander stuff.

Well, what did they expect? Horrible show of customer loyalty and appreciation, horrible release of product, not releasing all products as intended, and removing gameplay aspects from games while making collections feel useless.

Heck they don't even do press conferences anymore, and now it's the only TTL franchise that will ask us for a starter pack every year, seeing as Infinity announced today you don't need to buy a 4.0 starter this year, when they held their little live stream today.

I honestly don't think Acti cares and it will reflect as more customers flock to the competition or elsewhere altogether.

I still think one mans trash (the stores Skylanders stock) is another mans treasure (all of the sales coming up for he brand).

I still think it's to attempt to combat the onslaught of TTL products this month, to which the competition has Skylanders beat -

Nick and Judy released today, as did their power discs, and on the 15th you got Marvel Battlegrounds, Antman, Black Suit Spider Man, Vision, Panther, Baloo and new Marvel power discs, on top of Midway Arcade level pack, Stay Puft, Aquaman and Superman from Dimensions. All on the 15th. Three days later it's Roy and Ryu Amiibos. TTL madness.

Activisions gotta try - and I stress TRY - and steal some of the March TTL Thunder with the fire sales and Power Blues (whichever stores actually get them in).

Not to drag this off topic, but that was HUGE to announce. They will still be adding to 3.0 you got last year, but no new base game to buy this year is big. Plenty of new figures and playsets incoming, but leveraging the game you already bought is taking it to the next level. Wise move as the market is start to teeter to not force more big ticket items on the public, unfortunately the Skylanders model requires a new Starter/game every year.

We don't necessarily know it will require a new starter each year. Really, Lego dimensions was the first one to do it, now DI is copying them, and we don't know about Skylanders yet. What if they see what happened with Lego, and decide "Hey, maybe we should try and do that?"

They can't. You need a robust toolset that can be expanded. Skylanders is strictly story directed (which I do like), therefore they are tied to new games - at least for now. I don't think they could shift fast enough to an open world or expandable type game fast enough for Skylanders 6. Maybe, maybe 7 - but doing something like this isn't something you can just alter in design quickly. Remember as far as they knew Superchargers was going to keep the train rolling - it was only going into the holidays that it became obvious they were in trouble and might need a change in direction.

They could do open story by adapting the comics or similar and making them extra chapters, kinda like an expanded adventure pack. Would only make sense in a 2-year cycle though, where that extra year needs something to tide people over; currently might as well put it in the newer game.

I've always thought they should have been on a two year cycle. A new game/gimmick in even years, with an expansion game and a new story using the same line in odd years. Then you trickle out the new figures over the time period, mostly front loaded. The odd year add on would make people feel like they are getting more bang for their gimmicks instead of getting the screws turned yearly. Also, it gives the devs time to come up with a really great new gimmick to make the game feel fresh on a two year cycle. Keep VV on the technical aspects, have TfB on the character, story and figure design.

The problem is Activision loves to play devs off against each other in competition to top each other rather than combining their strengths.

Which they kinda did for Superchargers, but not like it was with Giants.

I mean I'm all for Skylanders adapting a no starter pack every year plan, but first they need to release a game that stops tailoring to some sort of gimmick for the year.

I was always fine knowing that Skylanders could have always played the same as the first game. Long levels, slight gameplay differences, 8 (now 10) elemental gates. I was fine with that and no gimmick. With them feeling the need to gimmick every game I don't see how they would adapt to a one starter policy like Dimensions and now Infinity.

I think that's going to drive this brand right into the ground as people now get to save at least 75 a year.

I think Skylanders would be awesome if you could build and share levels. Place your own elemental gates in places, support for all items, etc. one starter with endless Adventure Packs would be cool, but Activision isn't the company of smart choices. Not anymore.

Hard to believe Activision was started as a company by people that felt they weren't being given their due or allowed enough creative freedom on their projects. I remember playing games such as Stampede, Pitfall & River Raid and being wowed at how they were head and shoulders creatively above any other company.

Gimmick or no gimmick, two year cycle would be perfect. Four years for each dev would actually allow much more expansive and maybe subtler gimmicks because there's enough time to make a mistake and start again.

But sorry for taking this offtopic. Not living in the US, can't take advantage of the sale, but I wanted to chime in on having new packs on the games. Though I could talk about the poster and how no child deserves having Eggcited Thrillipede watching them while they sleep. Power Blue Splat also sticks out like a sore thumb.

David Crane, I loved early Activision. Kaboom, Laser Blast, Stampede and Pitffall got lot of play time from me. And when you beat the game by maxing the score, it was a big deal--you could send a photo (probably a Polaroid lol) to corporate to be recognized. I only did that for Pitfall and Laser Blast. Humble beginnings...the logo looks the same, but it's a far cry from where they came from.

David Crane and the others would beat the snot out of Bobby Kotick if they still ran Activision. The whole idea that a company made out of respect for developers was ever involved in screwing over the Infinity Ward guys over bonuses they were due is just mind boggling. They are now the exact opposite of everything they were supposedly created for. A big faceless conglomerate that cares more about maximizing profit than making great games and chews up developers and spits them out in order to increase share holder value. That's why they left Atari.

Activision itself is not alone on this route. Look at current Blizzard. I know that they have merged into one Acti-Blizz. May be that is the Curse of Bobby Kotick.
Blizzard went downhill game-wise since Blizzard North was closed. They are no more driven by talented and spirited game developers like they were a while ago.

And yet Blizzard apparently maintains some autonomy. Whether that is because they really do, or because they make enough money anyways, it is hard to say. They still manage to set their release schedules and make the games they want to make, if Activision really ran them directly they would be on the 4th paid Diablo Expansion and WoW would charge for major patches.

Overwatch looks pretty cool as well.

Diablo 3 was looking pretty cool before release too. 96 billions possible builds, my @$$. Do you know what we get at release? Even now, 2 years after 1st expansion they still cannot figure out how to balance their own game, do not listen to their community. Every next game in Starcraft 2 was worse then previous one, not completely bad but worse. WoW is slowly dying but for 12 years old MMO it is nothing strange.
What else do we have left? Heartstone and Heroes of the Storm. Have no idea, I do not play in card games, but might try MOBA version from Blizzard.

Gonna have to disagree with you on Diablo 3, that game is fantastic. I love how people complain about Diablo 3 because they *only* got a couple hundred hours out of it. To this date we have gotten one expansion and a ton of free patches with significant updates. I think people just had unrealistic expectations, because not many games have that kind of longevity. I know lots of people like to pretend Diablo 2 is the bestest thing ever, but had they just given you that again people still would have complained. I can't wait until Diablo 4 comes out so people can then whine about how that doesn't live up to the excellence of Diablo 3. Back when Diablo 2 came out people complained about how it wasn't as good as Diablo 1.

Starcraft 2 is still plenty popular, as is WoW. Maybe not what they once were, but they are still absurdly successful.

You may not like card games, but plenty of other people do like them. Your personal tastes are not factored into what is considered "successful". I don't like sports games, but I cannot deny Madden is crazy successful.

And Heroes of the Storm is really decent as well, with a big following.

Pretending Blizzard is somehow not doing well is sheer lunacy.

You would be surprised if you look up the interview with Blizzad's CEO Mike Morhaim about Diablo 3. Free patches with significant content are consequenses for alienating fan base - they are just trying to win them back, these are not mine words but Mike's.
The funny thing about Diablo 3 is that you are only starting to play the end game after sinking "a few hundred hours" into it. If you play it casually like a couple hours a week - it is not bad at all.
I like many games made by Blizzard, I play Diablo 3 a lot (more than "a few hundred" hours, actually much more, both on PC since the release and on XB1/PS4). I like Blizzard games but I'm not a fanboy of them. My point was - they are no more "By Gamers. For Gamers" (c) Interplay like they were not so long time ago. Financically they are in very good shape. But they lost that "gamers" spirit somewhere on the way.

"Absurdly successful" WoW is losing players every quarter for many years in a row but there is nothing wrong it it, it's just getting old. BTW there is nothing in Blizzard's lineup to replace WoW soon(tm).

And I didnt say even a one bad or good word about Heartstone or Heroes fo the Storm because I didn't play them at all. Why did you start calling names? Are you Blizzard's fanboy?

Nope, you are the one that was commenting on them:

Blizzard went downhill game-wise since Blizzard North was closed

Disagreeing with you is not the same thing as being a "fanboy". Why would you say that? Do you always call people "fanboys" that have different opinions than yourself? Yeah I like their games, so do a lot of people.

You dissed Diablo 3, yet you personally admit to putting in more than a few hundred hours. If you are so unhappy with balance and build combination, why do you keep buying versions and playing? And your point about them being "forced" to follow the same model they followed for the previous two games - one expansion and years of updates? Heh.

And I mentioned those because your point about them going downhill since Blizzard North was closed is clearly not borne out by fact. You said they have gone downhill game-wise, did you mean except for the games you haven't played? Because that "gamers spirit" seems to be alive and well in Hearthstone, Heroes and Overwatch.

Just another whiner that is mad because the mean game company doesn't give them everything they want. It's as bad as hearing Mages and Hunters complain every single patch that didn't massively overpower them back when I played WoW. "But what about HUNTERS ... Blizzard you are failing GAMERS!!111!!"

It seems I hit the nerve. Relax, Blizzard is great.
I do not comment or have any opinion - good or bad - about games I didn't play by myself, why should I?
I do not know how long do you play Diablo 3 and how far are you in this game. But if you have fun with it - it is great, I'm glad that it is fantastic for you, enjoy it.
I played long enough because I like it. But it has flaws and a lot of them. It would be not smart to deny it. And I see that developers do not fix them over long period of time or sometimes "fix" something in very strange way no one were asked for.
But sure - yeah, "lunatic", "whiner" - way to go if someone is trying to say anything not positive about Blizzard.
