>best movie of the year >not the revenant or star wars or the martian Mad Max was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but plenty of other films should have won some of the things Mad Max won. It's won Best Costume Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Film Editing, and Best Production Design, and that's just SO FAR. |

RIP "Leo never wins an Oscar" meme. One of the internet's best. ;~;

^They'll find another good actor who never won an Oscar to rally behind and make jokes about. Like Gary Oldman.

Didn't they straight up say they didn't watch the animated movies other than Frozen when it got an Oscar? That's the last place I'd use to value those movies, especially because a judge that abstained said more or less animated movies only serve for your 6 year olds to drag you into a theater.

this year's show was pretty good overall imo.
-Chris Rock was great and he handled the whole "diversity" controversy pretty well. -I absolutely expected Inside Out to win best animated feature, that came as no surprise to me. -Really surprised that Mad Max went home with so many awards. I expected it to win makeup and production design but the others came as a bit of a surprise. kind of wanted Cinderella to win costume design but Mad Max's was pretty good too I guess. -It caught me off guard when Ex Machina won best visual effects, considering the huge competition it had. -I at least wanted Star Wars to win best original score if it was going to get anything. Overall I'm a bit disappointed it didn't win at least one oscar. Same goes for Brooklyn, which I was hoping would win at least one, at least best actress(though considering how much oscar buzz Brie Larson was getting i'm not shocked that it went to her). -THANK GOD FIFTY SHADES OF TRASH DIDN'T WIN BEST ORIGINAL SONG. I didn't care what won in that category as long as the statement "Fifty Shades of Grey won an oscar" didn't become a true statement. Even better that it went to Writing's on the Wall. -Not surprised at all that Revenant won best cinematography and director. Of course I jumped up and down with happiness when Leo FINALLY won an oscar. It's about damn time he got one after all his hard work in the film industry. -I was absolutely shocked that Spotlight won best picture. Considering how much momentum Mad Max and Revenant were getting both at previous award shows and this one I thought one of them was guaranteed to win in this category. otherwise I was really indifferent to the other winners and nominees.

I'm pretty sure the Oscar goes to the artist/performer of the song rather than the film, so it would actually be "Oscar winning artist The Weeknd". Besides even if it won the film would sooner be known as "Five time Razzie winner Fifty Shades of Grey". |

true, but considering how much Fifty Shades is generally disliked it probably wouldn't come as a surprise to me if the studio behind it tried to exploit an oscar win as much as possible in order to get a bigger audience. Even without that I'm glad Writing's on the Wall won. I'm not a big fan of Sam Smith but he did a pretty good job with the newest Bond theme.
