I saw a deviantART journal about this about an hour ago. Hopefully they get their channel back and up and running. Their gaming channel, TFS Gaming, is still there, and they have their website too.

Why doesn't everyone just agree to use some other video hosting site? Youtube's being taking down so many videos it's insane.

All others are either randomly blocked on some countries, have incredible lag, or messy players. Blip was actually getting close to decent and then it got bought out and shut down. What a coincidence that tons had to move back to youtube, huh?
I had plans to start out an LP channel with a friend to try and get over my anxiety, tried testing out with a solo LP of Trap Team first. The sheer amount of videos that got flagged WHILE PRIVATE(I TRIED to keep a schedule) from copyright hoarders going after public domain songs made me just let that die; still got the last videos I never posted on a folder on a small hope one day this will stop being so stupid. Youtube, where's the Fair Use? On TFS, not the first time. Just make enough noise and YT will suddenly decide it was a honest mistake from whoever and revert everything, while a good bunch of smaller youtubers get nothing because they don't make enough revenue. As several videos said, it's a huge issue for bigger guys, but it's even worse for tiny ones who can't defend themselves with social media.

A lot of people are just too lazy. Even if you had a good chunk of big Youtubers move to a different site, they'll be lucky to get even half of their followers to go with them. And in the event that a big notable internet celebrity (or group of celebrities) are not on Youtube, people will just upload their content to Youtube for people to watch there, until they eventually cave in and start uploading to Youtube themselves to ensure they don't lose revenue (see TGWTG). Youtube has become the default video sharing site and people don't like changing to somewhere else because the people they like are on Youtube. And the big channels and celebrities on Youtube don't want to move because they don't want to lose that userbase and therefore revenue that for a lot of them is their full time job and earnings. EDIT: Jim Sterling recently published a video about this, talking about incidents with IHE, Channel Awesome, Team Four Star, and himself (his previous episode getting content ID'd by Nintendo). Warning strong language. |
