For me personally, I'd like to see some more interesting and more unique character designs in the next batch of heroes to play as opposed to the sadly slightly more basic characters we got from Superchargers. Don't get me wrong I liked the majority of Superchargers, but they seem to have been more one design just like the Swap Force was. Here are some ideas for the elements this time around.
Life: More bug like characters would work for the element, but this time explore the ideas deeper than before as oddly enough most bug characters we got were in the magic, air and even earth elements.
Water: Make some new characters and not just blue please. Why is it that is the only water character who is not blue? It's not a racist issue I'm addressing it's that the every water Skylander is blue deal is getting really redundant and I just want to see some more uniquely painted characters for this element. Like not all life characters are green or magic purple. Also like to see some more interesting ideas for water and not just sea creatures.
Air: Explore more unique aspects of air like perhaps maybe more cloud based characters or perhaps a character who manifests oxygen and carbon dioxide as attacks.
Earth: More characters could further explore ground based attacks and truly utilize unique attacks for the earth element. Like so far there has been no official use of an earthquake attack yet or maybe full pledge digging would be a nice idea.
Fire: Not really sure what I can ask for this element. Oddly enough this element was the most fleshed out of all the elements. Built up heat from , spreading fire around and covering ground like and even the power of the sun itself was utilized with . Honestly this element can do whatever it wants for characters, but I'd like to see more of a metaphorical or figurative use of fire like a fire ant that normally wouldn't actually have fire, but now can would be interesting.
Undead: More awesome characters with cool creepy designs is all I want for this element. Maybe explore more aspects of the afterlife, but try not to get too edgy so there won't be another controversy with the line. How about someone who fights with talismans and is about banishment for a character concept? In fact I want to see another ghost who fights with a lantern like the Poes from Zelda and he could cast haunting flames that can damage enemies over time. He could be called Lanterror and can be focused on legitimately scaring enemies while attacking them.
Magic: Maybe another shaman character like and some more magical based characters. Magic can be truly creative if the developers could put their heads together for more cool ideas for an element with nearly limitless possibilities.
Tech: Maybe not more robots to avoid repetitive ideas and maybe more technical aspects for this element. I'd like to see a character similar to the forgotten PS3 character Knack in a Skylander. Maybe this character could grow and become stronger from absorbing metal to become stronger kinda like where Roll would grow arms from absorbing rocks. He could attack and leave gears and metal on the ground to absorb like leaves gears to damage enemies.
Light: Explore the many different ideas and uses of light like fireflies, lanterns, lamps and other sources of light.
Dark: There needs to be more nocturnal creatures for this element. Some that come into mind are creatures like bats, angler fish, owls and maybe even a grasshopper who can fight with a violin. he could fight by playing sorrowful and morbid music who can be based on music like maybe be like a Skylader Edgar Allan Poe.
These are my thoughts for the next game. What are your hopes for new characters or other ideas for the next game? Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see.

Just good designs and figures, really,I like being surprised in a good way. The game itself,just... Step it up in general. Keep good things, change bad things, no need for bickering betweent the devs that causes stuff to get rushed and cut out every time from the looks of it. No need to get face to face with the big AAAs, but no more bare minimum and crazy short length.

Other than that, my only main hopes is that the gimmick isn't mandatory and we get some more unique characters. |

Diverse yet coherent character designs
Skippable cutscenes, butter-smooth menus Vehicles made optional/in side game, no vehicle interruptions in main story Vehicles fleshed out better, especially if as prominent as Superchargers Post-game content More mini quests (arena, heroic challenge, etc) Delicious bullet hell bosses Formula of "many shorter level" compared to the "few longer level" formula as of late More platformy - make jumping feel like less of an afterthought

Eliminate the jumping feature altogether.
Return to combat-based gameplay and combat-based difficulty. No more jumping over patterned laser beams in boss fights. No more jumping from giant hamburger to giant hamburger in boss fights, ever. Shrink the size of the main hub area, and expand the size of story levels. No stupid gimmick-locked areas (dual element gates, Traptanium gates, etc.) UNLESS there is actually something worth doing in those locked areas. A two minute puzzle and a hat reward? No. Unless there is a sincere return to combat-based gameplay, then ditch the hats feature. Who cares if your Skylander has +50 Crit or +25 HP if all the gameplay is based off jumping and dodging? Definitely bring back Arena, Heroic Challenge, Doom Challenge, etc. Keep driving/racing in the game, but solely as a side thing, like the Pandergast side area.

No gimmick;
Open world with a la LEGO games; Elemental based features which don't feel like paywalls and bend well with the environment; A well written plot; Full support of old figures (all of them); No reposes so they can fully focus on brand new Skylanders. I have full faith on TfB (unlike last year when SuperChargers had yet to be announced) and I'm sure they will learn from their and V.V.'s mistakes and make a fantastic game. Bring back old bases, cards and all the other little and big things which make Skylanders Skylanders. Will they make more mistakes? Most likely, but no game is perfect, isn't it?

Happy, that's it.
I would immensely prefer Giants 3.0 than "is that supposed to be Skylanders...?". Loved Trap Team and really curious to see what they will be able to do now that SuperChargers set certain standards really high. I would honestly preorder all TfB's Skylanders games from now on if they guaranteed me they will always repeat what they did with Trap Team.

I would be happy as well but disappointed. One of my main problems with TT is that it reuses so many gameplay designs from Giants and SSA. They shouldn't reuse them over and over again. Hell, for that very reason made me realize how much I loved SF. SF was perfect game-play wise and introduced entirely new puzzles and ways to play. TfB needs to do the same. I don't want lock puzzles and push blocks as the main kind of puzzle. Add variety to them PLEASE TfB. They should follow VV's path game-play wise. Also level gimmicks like in SSC plz, I loved those.

Quests not unlike SC's would be pretty awesome for the dialogue, and at this point it's unknown if they'd be able to call everyone in for new full lines. Maybe it's not voiced for old skylanders but full VAed for new ones.
What I mean is we need more insight into their character. I might not love that Nightfall is a slacker or Spitfire is a huge jerk, but it's so great to see the Skylanders not being mr. perfects outside the comics.

I understand but it wouldn't be fair to say TfB never innovates either.
It's true, Lock Puzzles and Push Blocks were brought back, yet Trap Team added some extra twists to them. Lock Puzzles were rather different from their older versions, only the basic concept stayed the same; Push Blocks often had other kind of features to them. There were also those pinball-like puzzles in Midnight Museum and other smaller things. Just because TfB doesn't revolutionize the series each time they release a new game doesn't mean they never evolve. They just prefer to be more subtle and less "cool, extreme and over-the-top" and I respect that. Much easier noticing changes when they are shouted and all over your face, right?

Lockmaster Imp had the rocket, which also added the breakable blocks, fire passages and one-way tunnels along. It DID change, don't get me wrong, but it got too big for what it had - the entrance to the Secret Sewers comes to mind because the lock table is HUGE. Needed a bit of tweaking, maybe a new coat of paint to look less like a maze.Same for the rail shooters, they had nice mechanics but nowhere close to what Giants had because it's too easy to exploit.
The pinball games would've worked if the physics weren't so bad. Make them top-down 2D for all I care, but don't allow me to somehow get the thing stuck on the upper walls. One thing I liked were the reflective plasma balls though. Just up the speed a teensy bit because good god you couldn't screw up in time attack, but the fact it allowed for vertical beam puzzles was amazing.

Yeah, but just because they weren't executed that well it doesn't mean they didn't tried to innovate.
Well, as I said they were minor changes. Like the fact they allowed you to upgrade mid-level, something which they took from SWAP Force but with Persephone. The Kaos Doom Challenges were a new concept as well and came with unique features. They added never seen before twists to the arena levels. They created a level where you could freely drive a flying vehicle and shoot down enemy ships (without making half of a game out of that concept). They created bridges puzzles and brought back Skystones with a new twist. They gave all Skylanders the ability to attack while jumping. They added Boingo Nuts, which are indeed a small gameplay change but are still something new. And also what Bifrost said about plasma balls. I'm sure I missed something but as you see they didn't simply put new characters and gimmick in a better looking Giants game.

There were also the pump pads,which... Eh, they worked for Tempest Towers' goofy concepts but the factory levels there were enough puzzles as is. The duct pushblock puzzles were also cool, but that's the thing,a new coat of paint. It doesn't need to be OMG SO DIFFERENT SO BETTER like VV does, but maybe make it different creatures(no need to put turtles back,I mean rock monsters for pushblocks, snakes for Lockmasters, etc),different aesthetics, would make things feel fresh without too much time taken from development.
Another extra mechanic was the ability to use homing projectiles to take down enemy spawners -cough- ships without having to be a Giant by some clever placement. Was a bit too watered down, but it could work again with some built-in puzzles on arenas so melee characters don't have it harder for no good reason.

All right, I guess I do have some more hopes for the next game.
Some higher level of replayability. These last two games have really been lacking that. Bringing back the quests from Giants and Swap Force would be great in my mind. I would also prefer they go with no gimmick, but I don't think it's likely. At the very least, I just hope they don't go overboard with it or don't make it mandatory to beat the game. Also, I'd kind of like to see more development from an NPC character. Any one will do. |

And the Mabu squad which heped building things and fighting in some levels. I agree they should make puzzles more themed with the various levels.

The crane game was actually reused from the Madagascar games, which were made by TfB minus the third one. Yeah, I wouldn't count the Mabu team. That barely does anything. I wouldn't call that a innovation in anyway.

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T THROW ME IN THE WATER no thanks. The crane was a good concept, but godawful slow and finnicky.
Mabu Defense Force was really cool but needed smarter AI to stop trying to push you aside and fight alone instead of working. Really felt like a small army though, and bringing back that lore from SSA was a nice surprise, without relying on 'oh no we're too weak to push this ball downhill' or 'I'm somehow qualified for this but got stuck in an obvious trap'.

It was still something new for this series.
Again, just because they were small new features, or weren't executed as well as they could have doesn't mean they shouldn't be counted. They tried. They helped variating the gameplay and for me it worked well. If you really come down to the veeeery basic concepts trappable villains were much more innovative than vehicles gameplay wise. They added a light strategic element and weren't just "something else to play as" unlike vehicles. Open Land areas would have been the same if you were playing as a Skylander, Sky ones were bigger and better polished versions of the beginning of Skyhighlands and Sea were basically a floating twist of 2D side scrolling areas. Of course they had things which made them unique but, Racing aside, it's not that "innovative" after all. Just something really different which could have worked better in a separate game.

Just to be precise, there are "only" 126 unique characters.
Reposes don't deserve new Quests, at best I could see them coding 10 extra Quests for the revamped SuperChargers and the Skymiibos. I would be all for that idea, really loved Giants and SWAP Force's Quests, exactly the replayability I'm looking for in the series.

126 is still a huuge number considering they have unique VAs almost every time. Acti has tons of people around the US if not the world to call if they add something like Skaletones, which shows something like unique voiced quests are possible, but probably discouraged.
And if they're really worried that they can't do like Giants and just have the same unique quests for variants, they could also just make universal variant quests - dunno, red/pink variants have to talk to tons of NPCs, Legendaries have to break statues, Lightcores have to defeat enemies in a row without getting hit, something along those lines.

What I imagine is an open world game, which would use a mechanic similar to SSC for treasures (minus legendary treasures, soul gems, winged sapphires) for the main chests scattered in the world. But if you want more opportunities to get treasures, so that you can be finished with the process faster, there'll be Gimmick Zones that require Skylanders of a particular Element or type to open. Like there would be a huge wall in the way of loot for Giants, and a hexagonal gate showing a Swap-Force type, would be necessary to open with a particular Movement type. here would be Dual-Elemental gates to open, just like in Swap-Force, and there would be Traptanium Clusters for Trap Masters, a tiny entrance for Minis, and even Villain Stashes for the Villains. There then would be Rift Gates for Superchargers, then any gates for the new gimmicks, which there is sure to be.
The Vehicles would act as a faster mode of transportation across Skylands, the Land Vehicles working in Undead graveyards(or party towns, life SSF 3DS), fiery volcanic plains, machine filled factories, and mountains stretching into the sky, in respect to the Elements of the actual Vehicle. Sea Vehicles would be able to swim and dive in islands and undersea reefs, magical citadels filled with mana-filled pools, and dark swamps and lagoons that are filled with many dangers. Sky Vehicles could soar in the open sky, with there being floating buildings that use ballons or turbines, great forests requiring the Sky Vehicles nonreliance of the ground to dodge tree roots and branches, and finally, the crystallic realm of light, in the uppermost regions of Skylands where there are many otherworldly sights. This is what I dream for Vehicles; making them a means to travel across the different areas of Skylands, with no need to simply go on foot. In addition, there would be chests hidden in these areas that act as bonuses, like the Gates I mention earlier. Among other things, Villains would work once more, the Villain Vault making a return. Any time you insert a Trap of a new Element, you would immediately unlock all Villains of that said Element, that way there would be no need to continually transfer every Villain from Trap Team. PvP and Racing would make a return, giving player the chance to try their skills against other Portal Masters. Arenas would return for both Vehicles and Skylanders, so that the unique challenges that benefitted SG, SSF, and STT can be renewed. Magic Items would work like in the past, actually giving you a useful ability in the middle of a fight, and they would also give you a new decoration to add to the Hub. This is surely wishful thinking, and I sincerely doubt that TfB would do this for a game; they're too focused on their new gimmick every year, forgetting about the previous one. But if they did make it so all the Gimmicks had a purpose, even if it was just by giving us more opportunities to open random chests for hats, story scrolls, and maybe the odd Legendary Treasure, it would be all the more worth it. It would benefit older players with large collections, and also make it so new players are encouraged to buy older toys, while also making sure they can still access all the treasures the game has to offer. |

Real Elemental Gates back
PvP / Online Pvp Traps work Survival or something similar to Kaos Doom Challenge If not, I probably won't buy it, just like I didn't buy SSC |

I agree with all that I quoted. The changes to the figures for SuperChargers was mind boggling. |

PVP, with added online.
Keep our vehicles relevant, just don't shove the down our throats. Give us some unique, cool designs. Keep Light/Dark growing. Don't make a gimmick based on side toys that will be worthless by the next game. A gimmick is fine, just make it figure-based like the giants of swap-force. Give us our nicknames back. They can be not shown in online, but PLEASE LET ME NAME MY PBDDTH "GONZO THE GREAT" SO HELP ME EON Big Levels. Big Hub world. Return to fun, combat based gameplay. Another Insect based skylander. No more guest stars. Don't get me wrong, i love me some hammer slam bowser action, but they added a lot of stress to mega collectors, amiibo fans, and people with a budget. Keep the two we have forwards compatible and i'll be good. Some kind of skylander with a speed based moveset. NO MORE GILL GRUNT. He's a fun character, and his new DEEP DIVE form is awesome, but we can all agree it's time for the big gill to sleep with his own kind. Crash is fine. I'd love to see another old character get a new start in skylands. Bring back something akin to Kaos doom challenge give us our villains back. That's all i really want. I just want SOMETHING to leak/announce soon so the hype train can get rolling. The superchargers releases are 95% done. give us thrillipede and buzz wing and we can end this chapter in skylands and start off 6!! |
