If aliens were to pass judgement on the world based off reading Amazon reviews, we'd all be dead.

Basically, if they hadn't ported the 3DS racing title over to the Wii, I sincerely do not think we would have gotten a Wii title at all. So, for the "mere mortals" that are gaming on a Wii... it was this or nothing. Don't like this? Get nothing.

And if you've seriously bought "every" Skylander, you should have a 360 (green Gill Grunt) and a Wii U (Metallic Wash Buckler) by now anyway. :p

Amazon reviews are just a small step above Facebook and YouTube comments.

And honestly the Wii is a dead system. I still play it and have fun but they really have no right to complain.

It wasn't perfectly clearly explained on the Wii Starter Pack that it is only a racing game different than the main game but still, these people need to get some info about a game before purchasing it...

If Dimensions really sold 2 million and is ahead, they certainly deserve it this year. That game is everything I wanted out of a TTL product this year. The game has offered me 76 hours of gameplay so far, and I'm still nowhere near done getting all 480 gold bricks.

Next week, I get to go on a new adventure with the Ghostbusters in a new level and open world based on my second favorite movie of all time.

I know people are going to like "hur-dur Lego game behind paywall," but Skylanders is no different, and at least Dimensions had a really fun campaign to play through that was always full of action and fun ways to use the portal, unlike Infinity and Skylanders, where you use the portal to just place figures on.

I really hope that with all three brands competing against each other, each brand forces the other brands to step their game up, cause Dimensions offers sooooo much gameplay for my buck compared to a glorified racing adventure or a game that's mainly Minecraft with Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel. Oh, and I say this as someone who supports all three brands and has everything currently released for all three brands. No bias, it's just Dimensions comes with the feels and fun gameplay this year. Hope Skylanders can top it next year.

I have those systems and those figures, but not by buying bundles. Gamestop's Buy 2 used get 3 free is a great way to pick up these figures and other harder to get figures if you don't want to buy console bundles.

Lego Dimensions is kind of a "Lego game with a paywall". But, that is also kind of unfair - as unlike most paywall games you get some cool Lego toys to play with as well. Their prices for packs are kind of high, but there are great sales - I just got a bunch of "Fun Packs" for $6 each at Best Buy that they will get over time. I pay around that for mini build packs for the kids anyways, so I see it as getting some content with toys I am getting my kids. The portal is a cool aspect in that you don't just place your figure and leave it, you have to move them around to solve puzzles - it's neat. Not necessary, but neat. Regardless, Lego games are fun and Lego toys are fun.

If people are seriously still expecting the Wii to perform as well as a current-gen console by now (considering the power is equal to that of a Gamecube), I'm sorry to say, you shouldn't expect the same experience. The Wii is dead, and Activision needs to realize that. Sure, there will be some angry parents who refuse to upgrade to a new system that was originally released a decade ago, but even the best of game series that span across multiple generations need to leave behind past systems. Sorry if I come across as rude.

That's very true, and the last two games' Wii versions proved that they can't continue porting the regular game on it.

However... Was a karting game the right solution?
I mean, a game where your 100+ toys are absolutely useless, gameplay wise (except for maybe some health variations)?

That's why people are complaining.
Because they wanted Skylanders and got karting instead.
Couldn't they simply do 2 portings like the past 3DS versions?
Nope, karts both for Wii and 3DS.

That's what I call "spin-offs" and should come along the main versions, not instead of them.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm criticizing.
It's not Skylanders with karts, it's karts with Skylanders in them.

There is nothing outside of the settings and the fact you can use all your characters for a pure easthetic purpose which make you feel like you are playing something Skylanders-related.

They could have at least made each Gimmicklander cathegory do something special, or even simply have the different Elements have unique abilities.
Nothing.
SuperChargers after stats I think but aside from that... Nothing.

LittleBigPlanet Karting was a nice idea because it had what made the series famous and loved: the great and deep level editor.

They could have made a GREAT Skylanders karting game but they decided to simply slap Skylanders on an average karting game.
Yes, it has something unique but... Just doesn't feel or seem like a Skylanders game from what I saw.

another blow have been dealt to the skylanders franchise, microtransactions...

Quote: newkill
I just saw the option to buy with real money when talking to BOOM 5000 on PS4. Microtransactions in Skylanders main games humm? As long as it is possible to get the custom parts with gearbits, it's really just an optional feature that you can ignore. Maybe they are experimenting? Maybe in future games we will have the possibility to buy virtual versions of characters/vehicles/items that can no longer be found at retail?

Quote: B-BOB358
I just saw the prices they are trying to charge for these 3 random boxes of parts and it's pretty ridiculous .

The 17 item chest costs almost as much as a new toy skylander costs.

The item chests are not worth anywhere near that. No one in their right mind would buy them.

As mentioned in one of said quotes, it's optional, CountNegaTive.

Now if they were actually forcing us with the microtransactions, then I would just simply ignore them.

seeing as how there's some reviews of disappointed wii players you can see the lower income people which is my guess on it in their reactions to playing a bait and swap. Even if it's on the box, most times people are in a rush, look for the system they have and buy it, neglecting what's on the box as long as it's what they're expected to find as in the skylanders and for the wii. Even if the game couldn't run as many figures, it should have been done in a way to have been a different adventure not of racing but like the main game. That was a dumb call. It's also a good reason why their sales have tanked. They nerfed the bigger part of their fanbase that bought them most likely. The wii was one of their biggest selling points. They wanted to sell the game at a mint price like the other versions but offer 3ds level game on it? If it wasn't for dark bowser, would have never bought it.

It is decisions like that and the fact they are lowering waves. There's no doubt there that they have every reason to blame themselves on the poor sales, they earned it. I highly doubt people will be lining up for them anymore. Lego and disney can still pull more from franchises. There's going to be more star wars movie and marvel things for years to come. They don't have to go 4.0 but expand like lego.

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon.

Good points tigerdr.
You actually made me remember what they said about Nintendo owners: "Nintendo is where our fans are".

Should have said "Wii-U owners is where our fans are" since the 3DS and Wii versions are indeed good games but would have worked the same without Skylanders slapped on the box (might have sold less though).

Only thing I respectfully disagree about is what you said about Infinity and Dimensions.
Activision definitely made an overall wrong move under many points of view this time and both its competitors truly earned their sales... But they'll probably just keep updating their last games instead of creating new ones, and no matter how famous and succesfull those new characters and franchises will be, I highly doubt they will be able to create the same level of hype/curiosity as a brand new game with new mechanics, story, features and characters.

Hoping their future ideas will be worth new games, of course.
