You know that Pokemon rule-making team or whatever Smogon?

Yeah. Thoughts on it?

I only play their online servers because it's really all I got for Pokemon battles (I stopped playing mah handhelds), but even then it's mostly only Anything Goes or some of their OMs of the Month.

I like doing Random Battles over on Showdown. Otherwise, I'm allergic to competitive battling, but it can be fun to watch.

I'm really interested to see all the box art legends (and Mewtwo) in the VGC, though. <.<;

Smogon. Oh yeah. It's pretty good, and the players have lots of opinion on what's banned or not. I don't play too much anymore though.

You can use mew jirachi shamin victini and ducking black kyurem but ur set of keys can't have its swagger

The community is terrible and the ruleset is inaccurate. Like, REALLY terrible and REALLY accurate.

Theres a site that has an article on how bull**** smogon is.
I'd link it but theres onclick ads of porn and such, so if you want to read it search up smogons bull****, but be warned of porn ads. Here's a part that I copied and pasted into notes
Scene: It's your typical Uber battle. Smogonite is using a Kyogre-based rain team, just like hundreds of other people, while Winrar is playing with some of his favorites in a no-bars match. To save himself from getting drenched by Kyogre and drowned by the semen produced when a Smogonite claims another victim, Winrar makes a surprising move.
Winrar: "Go, Gengar!"
Smogonite: (chokes back a yelp) "Gengar?"
Winrar: "Gengar, Mega Evolve and use Substitute!"
Smogonite starts to wipe his forehead as his shirt is now saturated in sweat. The smell of week-old cheeseburgers fills the room.
Smogonite: "Kyogre, use Thunder!"
Winrar: "Perish Song!"
Smogonite is now peeing himself in fear, as in three turns the core of his team will be defeated, and because Smogonite sucks at making teams and having gotten this one by copypastad one from his homestead, this means that he will lose the game.
Smogonite: "Y-you can't do that!"
Winrar: "Why not?"
Smogonite: "B-Because I can't switch. It's too broken!"
Smogonite is oblivious to the fact that he had had no problem using the Pokemon version of God a few minutes ago, and now suddenly decides that things are broken when he loses to them.
Winrar: "That's the point of the strategy."
Smogonite: "But I can't switch, and that actually makes me think. I hate thinking. Why do you think that I play Pokemon?"
Winrar: "Point taken."
Smogonite: "BAAAANN!!! BAN IT!"

Pokémon Showdown works better than pretty much every real-time pokémon battle simulator I've seen, but that's it. Never been interested in competitive.

Y'know,anyone can create a strawman like that based on whatever hobby. Including yours,mine, whatever. Calling something bad because you think they're manchilds doesn't make your side any better because that's not actually an argument, just an insult.

Real arguments: tiers encourage stagnation and cookie cutter movesets instead of strategizing around flaws, Anything Goes removes the entire point of tiers because of a single pokémon, banning certain items and abilities despite having higher tiers also cuts any drive for people to do mind games; and on top of all that there's the inherent RNG in the games that's on the way of having a perfect metagame forever.

'They hate thinking' is just ducking out of the lack of that and insulting the person instead of the community.

It's great to do with friends though, say over Skype or Discord or something. I'd never use Showdown with a stranger, though. XP

have you played smogon rules before
like say what you want about smogon, but shadow tag perish song gengar is broken, pokemon is unbalanced as hell

Right. I forgot. The community is toxic AF, and any of the main metas are unbalanced and constantly changing. Other than that, it's ok.
