Why people say Kylo Ren is weak and a bad villain. I mean, look at this:

[User Posted Image]

And consider these other three things:

1. He isn't even finished with his training yet! Look at what he is capable of doing as just a Padawan!

2. Chewbacca's Bowcaster. Kylo Ren not only took a fully charged shot to the gut AND was still able to keep fighting Finn and Rey, but during the whole fight, he was bleeding heavily. Consider how in the same movie, shot's from the gun was sending Stormtroopers flying.

3. Also, everyone says he's a crybaby who can't handle his emotions. While he did have that tantrum, think: the guy was strong enough to actually kill his own father. Darth Vader couldn't bring himself to kill his son, who he didn't even know until Luke was trying to kill him! Kylo Ren grew up as a child with Han Solo at his side, and he was able to muster up enough strength to kill him. That took some guts.

Also, he is able to literally take memories from people's minds! No other canon Star Wars character can do that! Not even Palpatine or Darth Vader himself!

Because of this, I am fully expecting to see Kylo Ren be an absolute beast during the upcoming movies, maybe even stronger than Darth Vader, as his training continues and he grows stronger with the Force.

star wars spoilers below by the way.

kylo ren was being beat by someone who had literally never known they had the force up until a few minutes ago in the movie. he also took a few hits from someone who doesn't even have the force too.

he's hilariously weak.

luke and darth vader + kylo ren and han solo were nearly two entirely different situations. darth vader was literally watching his tyrannical master, who had purposefully made his suit as inconvenient as possible to draw more anger out of him, him slowly and painfully kill his son right in front of him. vader may have also performed the art of stopping/deflecting a laser mid-air in episode 5.

is there anything saying that only kylo can take memories? i'd like a source on that.

i do expect him to become more stronger in the following movies, hopefully he'll be a much more menacing villain too.

In the movie, to try and get the information on the map to Luke, Kylo Ren captures Rey and tries to pull the memory of BB-8 showing the map to her out from of her mind. He doesn't pull out that specific one, but he sees others.

^Yes he does, but who ever said he's the only one who could do that? Besides that, when he did it to Rey, she was able to resist and unintentionally turn it around on him. I think she even saw into his mind and with practice I bet she could do the same.

It's never stated anywhere in any form of Star Wars media that he's the only one who can read minds with the Force, but it doesn't even show anyone else that can. it's safe to assume Kylo Ren is the only one who can do it, as of now.

Also, it's implied that Rey had minor Jedi training, she she's not exactly new to all this Force stuff. She likely was a survivor of the lost Jedi academy Luke created. This is probable because after every Jedi purge, no matter when in the timeline, there's always a few survivors. Also we know he slaughtered some people, but it's not explicitly stated who. We know he destroyed the Jedi academy, but we don't know how many students there were, nor is it actually said that he killed other Jedi padawans. We do know he killed a lot of people because of the flashback when Rey touches the lightsaber, but it's likely its the Ewoks, not young Jedi.

@MoonHorizons, if you're referring to when Han shoots his blaster at Vader on cloud City, he deflects the bolts with the Force, however in the canon Marvel comics, he can stop a blaster bolt, among other things. (i.e. detonate grenades on soldiers at a long distance, manipulate X-Wings to crash into each other)
