Most Regretted Purchase [CLOSED]

What is a purchase that you really wish you didn't make?

My biggest regret is Skylanders: Swap Force for Wii. That game sucked so bad and is the worst 100 something dollars I've ever spent. At least it got me to stop wasting money on Skylanders.

not one of the biggest, but buying dawn of the dragon and skylanders spyro's adventure

and i still have both for some reason. probably because it's not worth getting like, $10 or less for the two. maybe i should burn them lol

i also regret buying my current laptop, because it's really ****ty despite having an i7 core and 8gb memory, and it makes me wonder if it's because the speed is only 2.00gh or because it's a toshiba laptop, aka worse computer brand apparently. my older laptop i got in 2009 still works today and ran a lot better than the current one i have when it was new, and it has much lesser stuff on it then my current one (has a much lower intel core, less than 2.00 gh and 4gb memory) and was also made by toshiba. makes me wonder if toshiba used to make far better laptops or something.

^it sounds like there's another issue with that lap top, toshiba make decent lap tops and you definitely should be getting adequate speeds even with a 2.00 ghz i7

anyway probably this linkin park cd i bought when i was 11

Your problem is you bought the Wii version back when the Wii versions are extremely buggy.

I wouldn't know my most regretted purchase ever, but I sometimes do feel pretty bad about spending $100-ish on the first Skylanders game + figures for what turned out to just be a 6/10 game.

i regret a lot of my purchases bc unless its something i really want i dont like to spend my money

even so, i tend to spend quite a bit on useless fandom merch (i spent $250 on the homestuck adventure game kickstarter back in 2012)

i have also spent a ****ton of money on tf2 lmao

Thing for me is that I do so much to look through things before I purchase something or try to find it the cheapest way possible.

I'll add on to awesomerockets having bought the worst possible version for SF. I already don't like the game, but the poor job done on that is even more not worth it.

I have my Skylanders regret purchases but they're mostly getting from the wrong seller who took their sweet time instead of even answering me on how things were going,or ANYTHING I bought from the book store instead of ebay or equivalent which were cheaper since day one. My only real regret with them was getting an Earth Trap as soon as the one I originally got was lost in the mail; as you can expect that one arrived two days after I ordered it and I had to resell the second for less cash.

I had tons of regret book purchases tho. Sooo many advertising themselves as a chill but deep fantasy adventure, nope it's a crappy YA book trying to be the new Twilight ot Game of Thrones; worst of all was an author I met in person that was super proud of all of his inspirations that were pretty close to mine, only to find out his work is garbage and attempting to ride on the fame of ANY amnesiac hero who can trust no-one book you can name.

I bought Little Mac and Pac-Man Amiibos on eBay. Although they weren't too expensive, I accidentally overpaid on the Little Mac, and both figures ended up popping up at my local Smyths for MSRP right after I received them (they weren't restocks, it was the first time they were showing up in Ireland, and it happened out of the blue).

Same kinda applies to the Famicom R.O.B Amiibo, I imported that through Tenso assuming it was a Japan exclusive, then not long after they announced it's coming out internationally. Though it's probably gonna be a pain to get here so maybe it was better to import.

Skylanders, because I had every character from the first games, and I've gotten 4 of the starter packs, so that's about $400+ on toys. Although, I'd say my laptop was a bigger waste of money. I never actually use my laptop, I borrow my moms. My laptop has had so many problems, and it was sent into repair so many times, I've just given up on sending it back for repairs (because it takes about 3 weeks to repair), and now it's just resting in my room dead, because I've lost the charger.

The Kaos trap, which I paid about $40 for on eBay back when it was still rare. Never will I regret a purchase more than that. And to add to that, I never actually finished Trap Team, so I haven't even used it yet.

Also, a lot of the Wii and GameCube games I own that I've barely even played for one reason or another.

My original Wii U, I bought it on ebay, unfortunately I was conned and the seller never sent the console and I never received it. Fortunately PayPal refunded me but I still regret purchasing it as it was a lot of hassle to get the refund and even contacting the seller before she just started ignoring my messages. After my refund, however I bought it from GAME and it is one of the best purchases that I have ever made.

Wait, THE chase variant Purple Metallic Cynder? You can make it back and so much more because, unlike the easily faked SSA variants, that one has the Toy Fair tag(there's no E3 cynder as far as I know), and it's going for quite a big buck lately since it's iirc the rarest variant in the series.

Skylanders. I can't friggin' stand the gameplay.

I almost bought a membership for Roosterteeth..and then I saw some of their more recent content..and was quick to close the page. I think Monty kept everyone's head on their shoulders. Prime Example, they made an animated short called "My Little Dronies." I'm not sure if they still release animated shorts like this, but it made me unsubscribe from their channel and I really only go to RWBY now.

RT is still fine in parts, but yeah no reason given to pay for membership for me ever. I occasionally watch a let's play of a game I like, the RT Animated Adventures which are pretty much podcast highlights, but there's so much weekly everything that in the end is just pointless to try to keep up. Xray and Vav and RWBY also got on my nerves in their second seasons and I never liked RvB so I check the channels like once a week if I'm really bored if at all.

Oh yeah I keep forgetting my last Neocash card. I bought it ONE WEEK before the entire original staff of Neopets was fired and replaced by people who can't draw for crap. I just let the last bits of IRL money for pixel clothing expire, but that's 20 bucks I'm never getting back. I don't even regret the ones I bought before, the problem is that now the site just doesn't deserve it for the quality it has now.

I think they were bought out by JumpStart (you know, like those educational computer games for kids) a couple of years ago and after that, they basically fired everyone that worked on the site prior to the purchase and are running the site with new people now. I haven't played Neopets in quite a long time, but I've heard from a lot of people it hasn't been the same since the change.

Short version: JS outdid Viacom.

Long version: First, Viacom sold Neopets off to JumpStart, who had some MAJOR issues with lag because their servers are total crap. Everyone kept believing they'd get out of it. Well, as soon as they got better servers, they put up a very fake PR message up on the boards about how everything was going to be fine and removed the entire original staff, yes even who was hired during Viacom years. Among the bullcrap that happened because apparently they decided to outsource the majority of site funcitons to India:
-Took several months for the people working on the site TO KNOW HOW IT WORKED TO BEGIN WITH, and most news posts then were clearly out of touch if not outright wrong
-Art went from this to this
-Every few holidays or so, the automatic filters they installed to get rid of several moderators shuts off; this means anyone can cookie-grab you directly from the Neoboards on top of all the NSFW and gore they can post.
-They treat EVERYONE worse than Viacom did. We're not just a young audience anymore,we're stupid toddlers. The other day they blantantly stole art from an offsite adoptable site that's not even certified, and when questioned, said it's "just a coincidence" and then pretended to not hear. On that case thank god they eventually just silently removed the item from the site, but the assumpting we're too stupid to tell the difference and forget things if they don't mention it is there.

Yeah not fun times. I only visit to put my neopets back in the Neolodge in a vain hope they'll shut this down and I want be here to see the site finally die in peace.

Happened to me too with a copy of Platinum, though it was my sisters copy that broke. I was using it to get her some rare Pokemon but she got impatient and took the Action Replay out of the DS. Needless to say, that copy was ruined.

Also about the Neopets discussion, I made a troll account for the forums to try and get myself banned, it took forever for me to get banned. I did play it back when I was 9(had a nice Kacheek) but apart from whats already been said, has anything else happened in Neopets which is bad?
