Double Fine Productions kicks off their Devs Play show reaching Season 2 with Spyro the Dragon played by Ted Price, with Tim Schafer at his side.

Notable pieces to consider:

• Loading times that isn't a black screen with the word "Loading"
  
• Context of dragons in video games before Spyro was created
  
• A scrapped enemy of Spyro 3 that when attacked would burst out bats
  
• Spyro 1 sales being longtail rather than a bit hit at the start in the context of family friendly games for the Playstation 1 and keeping in mind of Nintendo's lockdown of family friendly games
  

I enjoyed watching this one, very interesting. It does make me wonder sometimes if Ted does go back in his own time to play Spyro. He probably does.

I like how Ted mentions that they considered collect-a-thons bad for Ratchet & Clank, but they wound up making collecting a big part of A Crack in Time which is one of the most well-received Ratchet games. XP

It's interesting to see him refer to the different dragon species as "families". Never though of it that way, or perhaps he's just using the term metaphorically

This was a really interesting and insightful watch! Especially as I was under the impression that Ted and others from Insomniac didn't want to talk about Spyro much any more it was really great to see!

Agreed. I've always thought they had negative feelings towards Spyro, so it's nice to see that isn't the case considering they've actually bothered to play it.

This was awesome to watch, I'm really glad I got to see this. The fact that this happened so recently is amazing to me, since Insomniac doesn't seem to want to talk about Spyro much anymore. Also, I didn't really know the history of Insomniac, so that was interesting to hear. Ted Price also talks a bit more about Spyro in the Ratchet & Clank video, which is nice.
(I also watched the Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter videos- those were great as well )
