Looks pretty cool as well, and this is coming from someone who mostly watched the series from the sidelines after a while. Isn't this based on an existing lore book though? I don't recall it being a standalone story.

Like Sess said, its 70 years before Harry Potter, so it's not really a prequel, and we probably won't see any characters from the main series (Except maaaaaybe Dumbledore, idk when he was born/how old he was when he died, I haven't brushed up on my HP trivia in a while). From what I read in Entertainment Weekly, it expands on a lot of details I personally wanted to know about from the Harry Potter books and films, those specifically being magical creatures, and the American side of the wizarding world.

Also Eddie Redmayne looks fantastic as Newt Scamander. I like how they turned a throwaway line into a well designed character like that.

What I don't like is those rumors of a next Harry Potter book. I think the saga finished well, they should focus on other characters and parts of the wizarding world.

It's based off the textbook for the Care of Magical Creatures class, and there was a copy of it and Quidditch Through the Ages in a bundle called The Hogwarts Library, and was released as little companions for the book, with 80% of proceeds going to the Comic Relief charity.

imo it's pretty interesting that they've made a whole story based off a fake textbook. I'm really looking forward to it.
