Which Game do You Want a Remake? [CLOSED]

This generation is filled with remakes, some a good idea, others not. But everyone has their choice. The question is: What game do you want a remake? Don't just say that you want. Say WHY do you want a remake.

I personally don't choose a game to remake because I like the game, I choose because the game have a potential of good improving through a remake. So my choice is Crash Twinsanity.

The game has a big, VERY big amount of content that did not make into the final product. A remake is a great choice for bringing this content for the public to play. Next year is Crash's 20th Anniversary, so it's a perfect opportunity, but I don't see much probability of seeing it. Also, Twinsanity is very buggy, so a remake could fix this.

I also like to see some 8/16-bit games remakes, mainly from the Super Mario and Sonic franchises. Imagine cutscenes, stage selection and other thing for these games.

want Diamond and Pearl to be remade because Gen IV is my second favorite gen and it just makes sense to remake them next.

I would especially like to see a real Primal Dialga and Palkia, as well as Giratina having some sort of involvement in the game. (Perhaps in a Delta Episode-like scenario?)

For me, remakes of the 4th Gen of Pokémon are pretty much confirmed. It just makes sense. We should just wait a few years (and Nintendo's next portable).

Rayman 3. That game was fantastic. I know they remastered it but a full remake would be awesome. Adding the cut content http://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Ca...t_from_Rayman_3 would be great too. Oh, and improved graphics.

On a other note, i would like a Jak and Daxter 1 remake. The graphics on PS4 would be mindblowing.

A remake of Pokemon Colosseum.

And a Blue/Red Rescue Team, in SMD's graphics. But I would like the post game to be altered a lot.
A remake of the Explores games would be nice. Maybe a Time/Darkness remake but with Sky's special episodes.

Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire

Serious time: Sonic 06. Yes, the game is a hot mess. But, there was a lot more the team wanted to do than what we got. They simply lacked the time or man-power to get it done. With a real team, I'd like to see the game they originally wanted to make in it's full, complete glory. Not a half-assed mess full of glitches.

I'd very much like a console/controller supporting, HD-ish version of System Shock 2 (to go with the, supposedly upcoming, remake of System Shock 1).

I've always wanted an Ocarina of Time-esque remake of the NES game Astyanax. But I'm basically the only person on Earth who liked that game. XD

Oh, and a remake of at least one, if not all, of the Insomniac Spyro trilogy that's more like Tomb Raider Anniversary and not another LoS. Something that's true to the original while bringing it into the modern age and NOT rebooting the franchise again. That's been done to death by now, eugh.

Well, one of my biggest dreams, as a writer and a currently learning game developer, is to make a Rated M reboot of Megaman, with platforming but God of War and DMC like combat, just with more focus on ranged weapons. Unlikely, but still, a girl can dream. lol

Other games I'd like remakes of, is an HD remaster of the first two or three Skylanders games, with updated graphics and zones, with all figures working in it. I'd also like to see Final Fantasy's VI and IX remade with today's graphics. An Onimusha HD collection, or just straight up remake of the series would be nice too.

I'm sorry, and I mean no offence by this, but that's a terrible idea. They'd have to rename it to Edgy Man. lol

Just like how a Megaman free roam, Megaman RPG, or even a horribly animated Megaman anime were terrible ideas, right? Because those were very successful. If a cliche Megaman anime with characters less inspired than Misty and Brock was okay, surely a mature and violent Megaman would work. Come on, doing fatality-like attacks on enemies and bosses to steal their weapon and ability sounds awesome and you know it. Lol

This ended a GOOD time ago. Now the only policy Nintendo has against violence is that you can't release a AO rating game, but it's the same rule on Sony and Microsoft consoles too.

The RPG, free roam, turn based RPG, kart racer, arcade fighter, and other reboots did not feel like Megaman either, all of which are loved by its fans. Even Megaman Zero was unlike Megaman. No new series of Megaman, other than X, was like Megaman. Sorry, but if gamers were like you two back then, we would have never gotten the new takes on games that we came to love. We wouldn't have had FF Tactics, Metal Gear Solid, Ninja Gaiden reboot, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, the 3D Zelda's, I could go on. You don't get good games if you don't take risks and change things entirely every once in a while.

I'm not talking about taking risks gameplay-wise and design-wise, I'm talking about turning a somewhat family-friendly character into a adult character. I'm not saying that your idea is bad. It's just out of place for Mega Man. In MY OPINION, making a adult-degree violent Mega Man game is the same thing than making a pornographic Mega Man.

Well, despite not developing, Nintendo was directly involved in M rated games, like Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third.

@Crash10 You're somewhat right, but name me how many kids play that series. How long ago has it been since the last games? Most of us who played Megaman, are now adults, who play violent games now. Why can't Megaman grow up with those who grew up with it? Little known fact, but in the first days of Megaman, there were adult themes, most of which were never included, or just hit the manual. The technology couldn't handle that detail or story. Megaman X for example, was the closest thing to what Keiji Inafune wanted, as Zero was the original concept for Megaman, but even that was far off. I do believe there's room in the long line of Megaman reboots, for an adult one, as long as it keeps some concepts like the weapon stealing, or the insane difficulty.

Just because the fans grew up doesn't mean that the series itself should. In fact, it means quite the opposite.

The point is that an M rated Mega Man game would likely be so drastically different from previous Mega Man games that it'd be better as its own IP.

Except it wouldn't be more different from Megaman, than that God awful anime was. If I told you I had an idea for a Megaman story about kids in school, who had devices similar to Tomagachi's, which just so happened to be Megaman, Roll, Gutsman, and the others, and used them to fight computer viruses, would you agree with that? You could make a Megaman about soup, and it would have more in common with the series than that anime. Lol

No, I don't want blood, nudity, or curse words. I just believe the violent combat system would get an M rating. The ESRB ratings aren't always the most forgiving. Technically, it shouldn't be rated M, as robots don't bleed. I just see it getting that rating though.

Yeah, not MANY kinds play Mega Man, but it needs to be in it's roots. It can have adult themes (even Disney movies have), but a violent game is not the right way. I agree with making new Mega Man games, but making M rated games makes the game not be Mega Man anymore. Just a example: The majority of Crash players are between 18-59 years, but that doesn't mean that the next Crash game needs to be adult. Making adult will make the game go out of what exactly it is, and even the adult players will not like.

Again, I'm not against your idea. I just want to make you understand why this style of game will not work for Mega Man. Maybe you can create a fan game?

No, blood wouldn't make sense. I mean, as I said, this is my dream. I've been doing concepts for it for a very long. My number one goal in game design is to make a matured Megaman. I know it's very unlikely, I know I'd need to make acclaimed games, several, long before Capcom would ever let me use the rights. I'd need to be up there with Naughty Dog. I'd be at least fifty before getting this done. As said, unlikely as hell, and it may stay just an idea, but you need your goals.

What I want, to be specific, is realistic graphics... imagine an altered blue Raiden from MGS4/Rising. Pretty much the same story as the original, with a few added darker tones. The battle would resemble a hack and slash, like DMC, but the main attacks would be ranged shots, similar to that excellent but little known Tron game. On top of the Mega Buster, would be Megaman's trademark skill, stealing abilities. If an enemy is weakened enough, do the finisher instead of just defeating it. He'd do a short but stylish kill and absorb that play style. Fighting styles would range from Shield Joe's shield and/or chain, to different types of Busters.

Collecting a weapon would erase the previous one (not the Mega Buster), and you'd eventually get abilities to store more weapons at once. Boss weapons are permanent. There would also be the hotkey, allowing you to place weapons there for instant weapon changing, used for extending combos. The hotkey, with the temp weapons and boss weapons would allow you to experiment with combos, to find what's most stylish and works best.

This game would be 3D, but unlike Legends, this would still focus on death traps and platforming. With buttons, say R2 and L2, you'd have the abilities to leap onto objects, and bounce off, or slide under. These could also be used in combat, or a mix of the two, say leaping on and off enemies to get to your destination. Of course, dashinh would be here too. I also imagine the levels being brutal again. You would need Quickman's frustrating wall lazers for example.

Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to make clear what I want. It's very different, but it would be Megaman more than Battle Network an Legends. Almost the same game, entirely new perspective.

So, you don't want a bloody game? You want a realistic game with a darker tone and all those elements? Now it's more possible. Your idea is quite interesting, and I don't see it as impossible. But I think that it will only work if they create another different Mega Man (like what they did when they created X, Legends...).

Crash, that's what I am saying. Battle Network and Legends were new Megaman games, reboots (X was a sequel, around a thousand years after the original). Legends was free roam, Battle Network was an RPG, because they were new takes on the series. That's what this would be, a reboot, a reimagining.

I'd really like to see an up-to-date remake of Mario RPG from the SNES, with Square behind it, of course. These Mario RPG's while Paper Mario was good, these are getting worse and worse. Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is my #1 most hated game I've ever played. I despise the very ***ing core of that game. The fact that it gave you a tutorial every five or less minutes, sometimes tutorials of specific enemies that you've already fought, stepping you through un-skippable dialogue that just keeps rambling on about how to press the "jump" button... It goes on all the way up to the end of the game. I find this the single most offensive game I've played, as it expects that anyone who's played it is a mindless moron. Mario RPG would be such a breath of fresh air, if done loyally to the original game. After the abomination that was Dream Team, we really need Mario RPG back.

Isn't that basically what they've already done with X? There are a lot of stuff that happened during the X series that was pretty dark.
I'm pretty sure the majority fanbase ended up preferring X over the actual main Mega Man games. It's probably because of the story and Zero, but it could also have been because the games seemed to target an older audience.

Also, there was a FPS Mega Man X game in the making, but got cancelled. Thank god for that.

@DarkCynder_543 Well X was a direct sequel to Megaman, just in the far future, whereas want I want to make would be a reboot like Legends and Battle Network. Also, X was a sidescroller, what I want isn't. lol
That FPS actually looked really good though, and it was being made by the good people who brought us Metroid Prime, another game that was originally a sidescroller. Capcom just hates Megaman or something, as both Legends 3 and Maverick Hunter got cancelled. I think both would have been great.

Well we DID get Maverick Hunter X(1), but the rest were cancelled, so there is technicality there.

Super Mario Sunshine could work really well in HD. As it is now, it's pretty buggy and unpolished. The graphics are fine as they are, but the world could definitely look beautiful in HD. The game doesn't have as many fans as 64 or Galaxy for more than a few reasons, but a remake could fix a lot of problems the game suffers from. Here's a few things they could fix in a remake, coming from a gigantic fan of the game.

- Update the graphics to HD. Add some new shaders, make the textures less blurry, and give some new life into the water and areas of the game. The underwater sections could probably benefit the most from this as they are simple flat plains with a sand texture right now. They could really make this game wonderful to look at.

- Give a better indicator of what Blue Coins and Shine Sprites you've already gotten.

- The ability to skip cutscenes.

- Speed up the Yoshi Lilypad Shine a ton. It's super painful to spend 8 minutes trying to get to the island only to jump wrong and have to start over again.

- Add Luigi as a second unlockable character, or even just add him alongside Toadworth and Peach laying around Delfino Plaza.

- Re-orchestrate the music. The soundtrack is already pretty good imo, but they could be so much better with some MK8 style re-orchestrating.

- Fix the slope detection. This is one of the main factors that leads to deaths in the 'Secret' levels.

- Add more levels or even more worlds to explore. They cut out a lot of planned content, so bringing one or two more stages back + plus fleshing out Corona Mountain would be great. Sunshine Airport, Peach Beach, or Delfino Square anyone?

- Redo Corona Mountain and the Final Bowser Battle. I have no second thoughts saying that this game has the worst final boss out of every 3D Mario game. Scrap it and make something new.

- Amiibo support could be a cool idea. It could bring in some new F.L.U.D.D. forms (Splattershot from Splatoon), maybe some new 'Secret' levels themed around the character you placed down (If you scan a Bowser figure, you get the first Bowser level from Mario 64 as a new secret level), or just a new cosmetic Hawaiian shirt for Mario to wear based around the character you scan in.

- Fix the bugs. There are a ton.

- Make it so that you don't need to get 7 Shines in each level to get to the Final Boss. Change that back to the 64/Galaxy method where if you get 70 random Shines you can pass into the final battle. At the moment there is no need to get the extra 60 Shines besides for completionists.

- On that note, add something as a reward for getting 100% in the game other than a screenshot saying "Have a wonderful vacation". That's a bad reward. Give us Luigi as a second campaign like in Galaxy, or unlock Starshine Beach from Galaxy 2 as a new single Shine level. Just something more than a screenshot and some cool Shades you can unlock by simply beating Bowser.

- Give Yoshi a bigger role.

I'll come up with more later, but for now these are what I'd change in a remake.

@TacoMakerSkys I don't think they're related. The Maverick Hunter, which I don't even think "Megaman" was in the title, was the FPS reboot that got canceled. I loved that title too. D:
I really did love that PSP remake of Megaman X, being Maverick Hunter X. Adored playing as Vile. I want to see stuff like that more often. Give us more Vile!
