SuperChargers Changes after Upgrades

I decided to make this topic since a lot of users seem curious about how characters change after upgrades.
If you are like me that might even makes the difference when choosing a path.

I will focus more on brand new characters since those are the ones I have, so any help with revamps or in general is really appreciated!
I will upgrade the list as I get new characters or unlock new abilities:

- Fiesta's trumpet changes to match his toy's form (haven't finished upgrading him);

- Spitfire's fire becomes orange on the tornadoes path;

- Dive-Clops' armor changes (becoming similar to a mine) if the bottom path is choosen but I think his weapon changes even if you choose the other path and changes anyway after the Soul Gem is purchased;

- Stormblade's knives changes if the blades path is choosen (they become similar to supercharged Sky Slicer);

- High Volt's armor color scheme inverts after his third upgrade and his silver parts become golden.
YUCK.
His spear also changes after acquiring the third upper path upgrade and his shield loses the socket part when purchasing the Soul Gem and changes a bit.
I really loved his original look... Can't say the same now;

- Smash Hit's apparently stays the same (haven't finished upgrading him though);

- Astroblast's second basic upgrade surrounds him with three annoying electrons-like glowing orbs and his blaster upgrade sligtly changes its look, equipping it with a gunsight.

I see gameplays of the Skylanders, and I have to say that the Dive-Clops' head is very... Odd after the upgrades.

The Spitfire's orange fire is not THAT big of a deal. I prefer pre-upgraded High-Volt.

About Astroblast... Well, the orbs are not a big of a deal to me. My Drill Sergeant has a glowing yellow shield because of his Soul Gem.

Dive-Clops's head remember me of Pinhead from the Hellriaiser series. smilie
I'm curious to see if it will change as well on the other path.

Astroblast's orbs are definitely less annoying than Drill Sergeant's arkeyan armor but they are still... Dirtracting at times.

I'll definitely check out Spitfire's armor path but I do agree the color shift is not a big deal.
An armor color change would have been worse in my opinion.

As for Nightfall, she strangely doesn't change at all except for the double hooks. I expected her hair to change after the Soul Gem to resemble her look in her preview, where her hair literally flooded everything around her.

Thanks for making this topic!

Gah, Astroblast's floating orbs sound horrible. And they are a basic upgrade? Damn.

They really need to give us an option to turn this stuff off.

Agree. I'd love to have an "equipped" flag for any capability a skylander purchases. Listening, Activision? Of course not...

I'm glad this topic is useful. smilie

Happy to hear Nightfall only gets that change.

Yeah, Astroblast's orbs are annoying but mostly because they are always on screen.
They aren't something you can trigger on and off, exactly like Stealth Elf's glass blades (but at least those are part of a specific path).

Having the possibility to show or hide every specific ability's aesthetic would be great but even reducing the option to simply all the changes as a whole would be really appreciated.
I sincerely hope they will listen, a lot of us have been asking it and it wouldn't absolutely hurt the ones who like those changes.

I think they should get rid of such major changes in color or floating objects. It wouldn't bother the ones that like it, as it wouldn't exist in the first place and the ones that don't like it would be happy.
They can keep weaponary changes like Nightfalls hooks or every sword in existence but just not armors... or at least not too much. I want my figures to look identical to the in-game models.

Yeah, weapons changes are fine.

TfB tends to modify those instead of changing colors, adding extras or simply alter the character itself.
V.V. instead prefer those ways.

So I just got Hurricane Jet Vac, and he has a pretty major appearance change in that he acquires a pair of mechanical wings on his back. Honestly I wish they'd just used that as his default appearance in the first place, since it looks really cool (making him more distinct from the original Jet Vac, at that) and he gets it after his very first upgrade. What's the point of having a default appearance that doesn't even last past the first upgrade?

Btw, why can't Jet Vac fly anymore? He has wings now, yet can't fly anymore. I don't get it.

I could be wrong, but Jet Vac has never been able to fly...even his mantra "No wings...no problem" speaks to it.

He always could fly, his third attack used his jetpack to well, not fly, but hover. But it did the same as any other flying skylander with wings.

I was trying to be specific by saying he cannot fly without gizmos.
Muffin Man Platinum Sparx Gems: 5583
#14 Posted: 02:59:16 30/11/2015
I know he needs gizmos to fly. I was asking why he can't use those gizmos to fly as a supercharger, especially since his gizmos now include mechanical wings.

Astroblast's orbs are fine, EXCEPT when paired with a life, then he turns into a permanent 'star' as he's healing them all the time and looks like a Life Punk.

Small color changes I don't mind, but both Spitfire and High-Volt change 1000% - permanently, and I can't stand that. I'm going to end up painting one of my Spitfire's to match the black/red. I'm still debating painting High-Volt...at least Spitfire's change serves a purpose...High Volt just gets a paintjob.

Apparently High Volt was meant to be a Light character.

*looks at his new color scheme*

Totally couldn't tell it.
They really changed their mind a lot considering they only had to work around 10 Skylanders.

Haven't played Astroblast with a Life Skylander yet but that sounds unbearable.
Does Spitfire's armor color also change?

Well High Volt after armor looks like a light character, before armor, he looks like a legendary variant.

I've got 3 Spitfires - one I've given to my son, the other two down the other paths, and the path with the lava armor, he becomes permanently black and red...it looks cool and goes with the tornado (thoguh as you pointed out red is colder than blue), but it being permanent, its a stark shift. Honestly, because of the colors used, I almost feel like they did Spitfire backwards, and the black/red should be default, with the blue flame being the armored version.

I only did it for a short while, was doing the money trick with elite Zook, and the entire time he was lit up like a Christmas tree. I thought something was wrong until I realized why he was doing it.

Yeah, Spitfire would have been much better if it started out as red/orange and became blue when upgraded.
Guess they did it to match Hot Streak's color scheme (which I do like a lot).
And at least his power is part of a path.

Rattle Shake, Rubble Rouser and Pop Thorn weren't so lucky...

Astroblast's healing powers seem a bit annoying when active but I have to admit it was a pretty creative idea since plants actually feed from sunlight.

Well, looks like Astroblast's healing powers work like Whirlwind's healing powers. I always wondered how rainbows heal someone.

I guess it's because of... Magic...? :/

There is a difference though: with Whirlwind you have to shoot the rainbow at your ally while Astroblast constantly heals all the Life Skylanders.
