Just got the tablet starter pack, and to my surprise the Hot Streak included counts at it's own separate vehicle in the collection screen as Hot Streak: Special.

There is still an unclaimed standard Hot Streak spot in my collection.

[EDIT] This only affects the collection screen of the tablet version and NOT the collection screen of console versions. The tablet Hot Streak does appears as "Hot Streak: Special" on consoles.

WTF? Seriously, this is starting to be bad. Why so much Hot Streak variants? We reached a point where a variant doesn't have any difference. This is starting to be somewhat ridiculous.

Good thinking, it's a pic of the tablet collection screen.

I tried it on PS4 and the duplicate regular Hot Streak place holder isn't there, so it only shows up in tablet.

Sorry for jumping the gun! Tablet Hot Streak still shows up as Special, so maybe putting a regular Hot Streak from a non dark starter will still create another Hot Streak in the collection screen.

OK, so I guess Spitfire will register as "Special" as well which is how they know you bought the tablet version.

Oh good, it would really be annoying if now I had to buy a 7th non nintendo starter if I wanted everything in the collection screen.

So if I use a regular hot streak and a special hot streak on the console it will show 2 separate icons? In other words, an extra icon would pop up, is this correct? If so, I may have to get the regular console one.

I'm just going to stick with 1 of each vehicle.

Saves money that way.

Should we start calling this game Skylanders: Super Variants now?

And that's why I simply ignore the collection screen's icons representing variants and revamps.
They just don't exsist in my eyes.

No, if you want the collection screen filled in you need to buy the Wii Dark Starter, the Wii Starter, the WiiU Dark Starter, the WiiU Starter, another console Dark Starter, another console Starter and a nextgen Starter with Gold Hot Streak. In addition to the tablet Starter. The shark has been jumped, and I have a feeling it is contributing to the level of interest dropping so substantially this year.

Give up on the variants and filling in the Collection screen dude. It is liberating to just collect regular versions, after Wave 3 you will only have two vehicles and two figures left to worry about for the Spring to get all different playable options. Eon's Elite are the only variations in my collection this year, and that's only because I really like them. They can keep the Power Blues, Steel Plated, Frightful, Missle-Tow and the rest, me and my son hardly mess with the variants anyways.

By the way, I don't think this one really counts - most "Special" figures don't show up in the Collection unless you have them. Chase variants show up like this, and we all know how ludicrous it would be to get all of them at this point.

I know that it is useless to have everything on the collection screen (including specials) but I was mad because it looked like the IOS Hot streak showed up different, unlocking a new icon, instead of just filling in the normal Hot Streak one that was already there. It would have been stupid if now the IOS hot streak that I bought (because of word about it being the only one to unlock the full game on the IOS version, I thought that would be better than just a normal hot streak) didn't unlock the hot streak in my collection screen, instead just making a new icon for it.

Would have liked something different this Hot Streak already died out...ok that was bad but I would have like something better like....a special Crypt Cursher or Shield Stricker.....think about all the innocent consumers!!

By the way, the variants "appear" when you register them, the game only includes the main characters in non-variant format. Last time I checked my system, the tablet version of these did not appear in my collection screen.

But then again, I look back at my unfilled yawn traps in my collection, and then realize the entire obsessiveness over this is just silly. Thanks for helping me save money, Activision! I owe your inept marketing strategy for that!

Honestly, I think this is just a glitch or an error, something like that. I have looked at the IOS Starter Pack, and this Hot Streak is absolutely identical to the ones in the XBOX Starter Packs.

Cosmetically it is identical to Hot Streak from all non dark starter packs, but it is counts as a "Special" version across all games except 3DS.

Currently you need this "Special" version of Hot Streak to unlock the full SuperChargers game on iOS. But it's been mentioned that Activision is trying to make it so any version of Hot Streak will unlock the SuperChargers game on iOS (for those that already have an iOS portal from Trap Team).

^ Correct. This is not a glitch. The speciial indicator is how they designed the iOS code to "know" if they've purchased for the game.

So many variants and now random special versions with no difference. Next thing you know, someone finds a Hot Streak missing a wheel, puts on the portal and it is missing a wheel. VV is too desperate for money.

And what exactly is so "Special" about this Hot Streak anyway? It looks just like the regular Hot Streak...

I still consider it 4 (which I agree is still too many) since Hot Streak: Special is not any different in-game than a regular Hot Streak.

IMO having one or the other is sufficient if you're trying to collect all in-game characters/vehicles. No need to have a regular and a special unless you're an extreme collector/completionist that collects everything including chase variants.

Yeah,but as the upcoming fix says, it's not that ok when you notice your current Hot Streak from the console version won't do crap even with the Trap Team iOS portal. Main problem isn't that it's different ingame,but that it's impossible to tell apart IRL(unless there's some marking to differentiate, I don't think anyone mentioned),so unless you want to risk a loose version you HAVE to buy another full starter pack.

If you want to unlock the full iOS version, you have to purchase the full iOS version - what's wrong with that?

If you want console Superchargers,you just get Digital Owners and a portal - why not do the same with the Trap Team set plus a used Hot Streak(or any other Land vehicle,just like Digital Owners) since they're nearly identical?

I believe someone on here mentioned you can purchase the full iOS version for a $50 unlock... just like the Digital version on the consoles?

Someone else can correct if this is not accurate, but my understanding:

You download the Superchargers iOS app for free. You can play a small bit of it. Afterwards, you are presented with two options for getting the full game - paying $50 to unlock it from the app or scanning in Hot Streak from an iOS bundle.

To compare to the console Digital versions, there's no download offered until you pay the $50 - which gives you the full game (no "demo" version on consoles).

So, for console or iOS, your options are to buy the starter bundles or to pay $50. Right?

On 3DS, tablet Hot Streak shows up as a regular Hot Streak, no special designation.

I agree it's weird that E3 Hot Streak shows up on 3DS as Hot Streak: Special, but same color as normal Hot Streak. And it only says Special when you scan it with the portal. When you use it straight from the select/collection screen, there is no Special associated with it.

3DS has place holders for normal Hot Streak, Dark Hot Streak and Golden Hot Streak only, so I guess that's all it recognizes.

Told ya guys there was 5... hopefully you understand why now.

So to sum this thread up. Tablet version of Hot Streak shows special, but does nothing on other consoles and is needed to unlock the tablet version only?

I don't think the "Special" in the name justifies needing to have two identical looking figures (both physical and in-game). For a moment I thought to myself I would still have to buy another non-dark starter pack to have a "regular" Hot Streak, but that didn't last long. Not worth it to have both; one or the other is more than enough considering there are at least 3 other versions.

It shouldn't really bother collectors, but I can see completionists wanting to have both.
