I know my mind is a very weird place.

Sometimes it's full of randomness and others it's got a little sanity.

Ooh a penny smilie

What was i saying?

Oh that was it, a thought keeps popping into my head so i thought i'd take it out and make some room.

Does anyone actually know why Native Americans are called Indians?

I highly doubt they chose the name themselves, so where did it come from?

An inquiring mind wants to know.

"They were originally and mistakenly called "Indians" by Columbus, as others here have said. The area where he landed is still called "The West Indies." When Columbus landed in America thinking that was India, he called them as 'Indians' or 'Red Indians' because of their skin complexion"

You try finding India with only a physical map and a slow ass ship.

They did have the means to navigate reasonably accurately, but they had an unknown horizon ahead of them. I can imagine how that would've make things more complicated.
