As said elsewhere in the internet, everyone used to make fun of Comic Sans, now everyone is afraid of it and even more of Sans Serif.

On the other hand everyone has confused feelings for Papyrus font.

I'll never understand how someone without a stomach, tongue or a throat to begin with has a fixation for ketchup.

I mean, at least they somehow can taste stuff since Sans comments on Papyrus' cooking, but the kickstarter video had him drink something and it went straight through the back of his head. Unlike spagetthi or burger it's not even going to stay.

I don't Like Like her, but she seems cool. Still need to play the game. Unfortunately, the visual style sort of puts me off.

As I said to me BF: I just don't understand how a game about the power of friendship can have such a cold and uninviting visual aesthetic.

It's just a really simple and barebones art style.

Hey we're in the Sans topic expect no less from me. But in all seriousness, it's a retro-but-not-really game, no Shovel Knight or whateger cheap indie you find nowadays, it's a lot more about the simple spritework from Toby Fox and Temmie that just happens to look aged.
Graphics will never be Undertale's point, though, the story and music will.

Coming from a Shovel Knight fan I agree
Undertale is miles better than Shovel Knight

On artstyle Shovel Knight still wins though. Undertale's main problem is that the two devs couldn't seem to agree on shading and the enemy sprites have black and white or black with white outline all over the place and it confuses some parts of the designs, especially when you see their overworld sprites later. Shovel Knight you could make an educated guess it was all one guy because several artists kept the same patterns with little conflict.

also the characters are amazing
