Just wondering how big the TCG fan base is here.

I considered getting a pack of cards and try to play

I somewhat do. I'm not huge into the competitive base and don't really play that often, much less pay attention to ban lists, but I do build decks and like to play when I can.

I got a load of cards but never got a deck together.

It hurt my head so i gave up.

About halfway through 5D's, it got so complicated that it just wasn't fun anymore.

I was playing Pokemon TCG online (That game is RNG as all hell, btw) a while back, but I had to stop playing online games when I was downgraded to wireless internet.

At least your battling boxers have ways to recycle your level 4s easily.

Most of my decks are incomplete as funds are needed to obtain cards.

My decks:
Elemental Heroes (main deck, is complete)
Crystal Beasts (missing one card)
Fortune Ladies (least complete, only have 1 Fortune Lady)
Six Samurai (could probably be complete if I wanted it to be)
Morphtronics (needs moar monsters)

No, I mean Elemental Heroes. Heroes is an archetype with a number of sub-archetypes. Elemental, Masked, Vision, Destiny, and 1 Contrast hero.

IMO, sounds like people too lazy to learn the difference. Of course heroes work together and a deck can blend multiple ones, but I use straight up original Elemental.

Yeah, I play, and can be found on DN as well, same name as here.

I heard that Burning Abyss's got hit too by the upcoming list.

I do have my set of cards and never really play with them.

I have a pretty strong dark type deck. I used to play with the Occult Deck some time ago, but I found out how screwy it was, and how illegal it would be in tournaments.

I've got number 40 gimmick puppet of strings 85 crazy box 74 master of blades 17 leviathan dragon 39 utopia roots 87 queen of night 34 terror bite 7 lucky straight 30 acid golem of destruction and 49 fortune tune so I still got a long long way to go

I know this is a little late but do you see why people associate the two? Yeah, I get why. Masked kind of was designed to work with E-hero, this is shown in the manga before Masked was even made in the real game. It's kind of a copy of Jayden's deck in the manga, like how E-heroes do of the anime. After a certain point, Jayden quits using the E-hero deck his idol & friend gave him when he first got into dueling and uses a deck of his own creation based upon that deck. This desk is primarily Masked, but uses some Elementals that weren't used in the original deck like Shadow Mist.

I still just prefer the look and feel of the Elementals.

Kinda reminds me of the charmer series, but none of them wear their hoods up, and their cloaks are tan, not white. There's one for each element. The Fire, Water, Wind, & Earth ones have alternate versions with them possessed by a familiar and another of a more powerful and older looking form.

Another that comes to mind is Waboku.

Damn google..... Look up yu-gi-oh cards and half the results end up fan-made ones. After looking at more than just the picture, I can see everything wrong with it.

Yw, while I know most of the cards (minus several of the bad vanillas that are easily forgettable, stuff like sand stone. Well I remember sand stone ONLY because it was my first ever card) I still can't recall every card's effect or artwork. I actually was looking for a specific card earlier and all I knew was the art and that it was either a spell or trap.

What are you're opinions on non-themed decks? By that I mean decks not based on an archetype, but rather a more homemade one, like one of my only two irl Yugioh friends have. It's not bad, actually, just not meta.

Well even if it's not based on an archetype a deck still needs synergy.
For instance one old deck of mine simply known as "Hippo Hacked Jackpot" involved a large variety of draw spells, dark scorpion burglers, hippo carnival, jackpot 7, and something like creature swap to give them DSB.
While that isn't an archetype focused deck, it still had a plan and "winning image". A deck needs to have an idea of what it wants to accomplish, regardless if it is a specific combo play, burning the opponent down, or a win condition card, a deck with a lack of focus is not going to win. And yes you can still have a "fun deck" with a focus. If you can't afford cards then play on DN till you put together the money to buy them. Then use DN for practice on days you can't have a duel with anyone.

Hippo Carnival is a Arc-V card ... that's not very old at all.
