Yeah, Falco is still up for Pre-Order like two weeks later at Best Buy. He isn't going to be difficult to obtain. A good bit of the wind got sucked out of the Amiibo resell craze when the recent restocks happened. People are realizing their valuable figures can have their collectible value wiped out in an instant with a new shipment. It's great if you just like to collect Nintendo stuff like me and my kids, but it's terrible if you are looking to score a profit.

Okay, while I've come to agree that the Skymiibos weren't executed in the best possible way and it is rather unfair how Nintendo gamers get something extra... I'm sorry, I just don't really see anything inherently wrong with them. Console exclusive characters have been a thing for a while now, and I'm honestly not surprised Skylanders jumped on that band wagon as well.

I do agree with all of the complaints of how they replace Spitfire, how they're not universally compatible, how they were obviously just brought in to fulfill Activision's dreams of swimming in a pool of money like Scrooge McDuck. But, would the reaction be any different if they pulled this with Disney Infinity, or Lego Dimensions, or... any other Toys to Life game? Probably not. For what it's worth, I'm actually glad it was Skylanders that had the guts to pull this off. And it's not like you'd miss out on anything major whether you can play as them or not. I mean, what do they really bring to the game aside from star value?

Honestly, I think most people were just irked because of the starter pack ordeal and... Yeah, it's not like I don't understand. I was kinda looking forward to Spitfire myself. So anyone at Toys for Bob or Activision, if you plan on doing this again: At LEAST package the Skymiibo with the new character instead of the old.

They are just lots of franchises slammed together (Amiibos are no exception) but that's fine.

Skylanders however is something more.
They built a world, a world which has rules and those rules should be respected.
Skymiibos take those rules and kick them inside the nearest rift.

But other than that I completely agree with your post and what you said.
Badly executed idea, bad distribution and most importantly bad time to introduce them; not for the vehicles but because this year's roster already has its problems without the need of console exclusive figures.

The first game had at least three by itself: Spyro, Cynder, and Dino-Rang. Then there's Star Strike in Swap Force. All four are fan favorites. And we could probably think of more if we put our heads together.

The Skymiibos aren't anything necessarily new. They're champions from a different world called or summoned to Skylands for one reason or another.

No, Malefor, Spyro and Cynder aren't the same as their LoS counterparts.
Spyro comes from the realm of Avalar and has gone trough many adventures before being contacted by Eon but Cynder, Hex and Malefor are all native of the Skylands.
Can be confusing, I know.

Comics seem to hint at Spyro having met Malefor before but it might simply be a nice easter egg.

Technically, LEGO Dimension's doesn't have a lore, it just has a bunch of lores mixed together. But then I'd say that breaks way more rules than the Amiibo hybrids do.

I mean, yeah, universal compatibility, but that's more a gameplay rule than it is a lore rule.

LEGO Dimensions is a game that allows you to use a Portal Gun in Middle Earth, to play as Homer Simpson in Doctor Who, to have Scooby-Doo team up with Ninjago. Now THAT is lore breaking to me.

Just look at Boromir's death in the LEGO version of LotR.
Captures the dramatic moment but immediately makes fun of it.

Like Adam said. There is nore lore behind compatibility. It mostly just been a rule for the developers.

After a while you learn to not take cannon and lore so seriously as these are just franchises that will do anything for a buck. Punisher meeting Archie. Preditor meeting Archie. Xmen meeting Star Trek TNG. New Doctor Who meeting Star Trek TOS. Transformers meeting GI Joe, Mars Attacks vs a half dozen truely awful series, Ash Evil Dead vs just as many awful other series...and on and on with idiotic cash grabs that pisses the fans off. In all cases it'll never be addressed ever again, so just accept it as an one off fluke that you'll never have to think about until the next awful match up occurs. It's a horrible attitude I know but it's less stressful to not really care so much about these things as they will keep on happening no matter how you feel about it.

Maybe you are right... Annoying decision but it's just how it goes these days.
Even if a lot of the series you mentioned have strong and well made lore they do tend to fall in that kind of fan-service (though a lot of those crossovers are... Unneeded, to say the least).

Well I still despise Skymiibos for being the first console exclusive figures in the series (hoping they will do that only for guest-stars) but other than that... I guess I'm fine.

Little Mac is much smaller than you would think. He is pretty tiny in comparison to the others, but a great looking figure.
