Since the announcement at E3 2015, I've been calling them Amiibolanders...and I've noticed others doing the same. But since joining DarkSpyro I noticed a lot of people saying Skymiibo....is it a preference thing? Honestly I prefer Amiibolanders because 1) I think of them as amiibo first and Skylanders 2nd, 2) it simply SOUNDS better, and 3) I still want a Skylanders style game that uses the amiibo the way Skylanders work, and Amiibolanders as a term seems to fit better IMO.
So I ask you my fellow Portal Masters: Which do you prefer? Amiibolanders or Skymiibo?

I typically refer to them as either "hybrids" or "amiibolanders". In most cases, nicknames have the suffix "-landers" ("Gimmicklanders" being one such example), so "Skymiibo", which breaks the mould, sounds too weird.

'Skyamiibo' doesn't work, you're right - but I personally tend towards 'Skymiibo', which does.
At first I liked Amiibolander the best, but I think it's got just a bit too many syllables for my liking, as I've ended up always thinking of them as Skymiibos instead. |

Nope.
They are everything but Skylanders. "Skybrids" sounds good and would also work for non-Nintendo guest-stars; nice idea GamerZack7.

I prefer "Skymiibo". The Skylander is there first, and the Amiibo half is really just there as an added bonus. If the Amiibo came first, then these Skymiibos would have been included with some Nintendo game, but they aren't. The main purpose is to play as them on Skylanders. Then again, I am probably not the person to ask, as I absolutely loathe Nintendo and will likely never say anything of theirs comes first, so I am biased.

Look, it's not something opinable. Donkey Kong and Bowser aren't universally compatible, are part Amiibos and most importantly have been called only as temporary helpers. Master Eon never declared they were Skylanders as far as we know. Let's call things with their proper names, please. Just like revamps which aren't new characters by any possible means.

Lemme get this straight because I'm just confused by your logic at this point. First you want to call them. "Skybrids". As you don't like the idea that they are Skylanders? That pretty much contradicts all marketing and lore.

Since they're not from the Skylands, the should be "something"landers, such as Nintendolanders or Amiibolanders.

I personally prefer Skymiibos. I like to think of them as Skylanders first, amiibo second. Also it's shorter and rolls off the tongue better.

^All of this. They were marketed and sold as Skylanders first, amiibo second (and hell, how many people even use their amiibo functionality all that often?). And three syllables beats five.

It's like with Spyro i don't call him Skyro like some people call him. Same goes with Amiibo i do not called them Skymiibos or Amiibolanders. |

Skymiibo, it is much easier to type up the amiibolander and has a nice ring to it. Like an amiibo but with 2 extra letters (which is what it is
)Also I mainly use them for skylanders so skylander before amiibo

Mushroomlanders? I think the Mushroom Kingdom is the closest thing to an official multiverse Nintendo has, outside of Smash Bros. Smashlanders...?
![]() Honestly I prefer Skymiibo. They're sold in Skylanders starter packs, with Skylander bases and designs, to work within a Nintendo-version Skylander game. I consider the two figures to be more Skylander than amiibo, personally.
