I think whatever Luke's role is will be a surprise. That's probably why he isn't in it much. I cannot wait to see this movie though. I love it so much that this movie is being made at all. It looks like it will be amazing.

My ex-gf is desperate to get tickets for the first showing, and I have some.
Too bad she cheated on me, maybe if she was loyal she would have been able to see it opening night.

I'm probably the only person who isn't really hyped for it at all.

Though that's probably because I don't care much for Star Wars in general so a lot of the trailer just goes way over my head.

Eh. I liked the SPECTRE trailer more, which surprised me. Most of the excitement was because it was a Star Wars movie, not because of anything in the trailer. It may just be me, but the CGI doesn't look amazing or anything.

There's nothing wrong with you at all!
I tend to be easily impressed.

The flight scenes in particular look great, and I like the scenes in the trailer where they blend practical effects, CGI, and acting the best. (ie Finn and Rey talking to Han aboard the Millennium Falcon)

I kinda agree. Some of it has been phenomenal but other times it has looked kinda bad (especially BB8 in the beginning of the trailer next to Rey)

That's not CGI. BB-8 is an entirely practical effect. (Except for when he's in Poe's X-Wing during the CGI fight scenes of course :P )

Boy, I sure do love repeating myself.

I wanted to love the prequels...even saw Attack of the Clones 4 times in the theater. Only saw EP2 twice and EP3 once (the best of the three)....I've been disappointed before. I'll see it, but my expectations are not high. That coupled with Lucas consultancy role will absolutely make this movie ten times better than any of the prequels. Just seeing the old gang (meant literally) willl be bitter sweet. We should've seen EP7 years ago at this point, with them as very viable action actors.

After the magic Abrams worked on the 2009 Star Trek, I have pretty high hopes in this movie. He and all the writers, producers, and even the actors poured a LOT of heart into this movie. I'm fairly certain they can recapture the magic of the Original Trilogy.

Another point, the things Lucas wasn't directly involved with (i.e. the shows and books so far) have so far turned out to be pretty good. The Clone Wars series fixed a lot of what was wrong with the prequels, Rebels started off meh (just like Clone Wars did) and is slowly starting to become phenomenal as more is released, and all the books so far are fantastic. Lucas was a "consultant" for all of these and they turned out great, I don't see how Force Awakens won't do the same.
