You know, I did make a long detailed comment to a topic exactly like this, but since it's been some time, I've had better time to think all of this over, and have different answers... better ones in my opinion.
I think one important thing to do here is two from each of the previous four games. Few had that idea, V.V. didn't even do it, but it's really best that way.
Air - Lightning Rod. Air is the one element I struggle choosing. Like I said on the previous post, Lightning Rod because he's just so uninspired and dull. There isn't much to him, never was, and his figure always resembled a cheap McDonald's toy. Thing about him (unlike Fright Rider, possibly the worst character in the series), is he actually plays well. If there's one character in the most need of a revamp, it's Lightning Rod.
Undead - Fear Conjurer Hex. I originally said Roller Brawl, and now that I've thought of it, nah... it sounds great on paper but when you think about it, a Supercharger Roller Brawl would still just be Roller Brawl. Hex could truly change it up as a Supercharger. If there's one new playstyle I think that would rule with Hex, would be a summoner type, same idea, but nothing at all the same as Zoo Lou. Summoning undead warriors, things that look like they come out of nightmares, and most importantly... skull attacks? I can see Hex really standing out, once again with this style. Her vehicle? Not entirely sure but I'd like something in fashion of that winged skull on the Darklight Crypt figure.
Tech - Metal Head Sprocket. I know... I know, anyone who reads this will probably hate me for suggesting a heavy metal Sprocket, but hear me out. Other than her appearance, Sprocket always was heavy metal if you think of it. The explosions, the awesome turret and tank, the blunt weapon? You could really go somewhere with this. I imagine she's carry a large minigun with her that deals a ridiculous number of shots in rapid fire, but using it slows her down and it does take time to start up. I can see the minigun attached to her arm, by the way. Unsure of her "first attack", but she would have a headbutt attack as a strong stagger move, but especially to add up with the "Metal Head" title. Her vehicle? We all know what it would be... lol
Life - Shroomboom. I'm really unsure of how Shroomboom would work out, but he's an awesome character, and I think he deserves a revamp. There's so many things he could do, and while I love him... let's be fair, his attacks really didn't line up with how great he could have been. He has one of the greatest designs in the entire series, and I think it's about time he has some of the coolest attacks too.
Fire - Highway Warrior Fryno. The name is clearly a reference to Mad Max 2: Road Warrior, and come on, he's obviously a Mad Max reference, and his Soul Gem is even called "Madness Maxed". If you look at High Volt's vehicle, it's certainly inspired by the Interceptor V8 from Mad Max. It goes without saying, Vicarious Visions has a lot of love for those movies, and I think they should just own it with Fryno, and go all out Mad Max with him. I'm unsure how he'd play, but his character in Swap Force left so much room that it could go anywhere. He could be a tough guy with a shotgun, he could focus on cool fire chains, he could use the vehicle idea still, etc. I think Fryno's a no brainer.
Water - Punk Shock. I think there's a handful of characters out there that people don't love so much for their figures, or even how they play, but for how they look in game. Fiesta is one of those characters, who fills the screen with colorful music notes. I think Punk Shock, while her attacks in Swap Force certainly looks nice, she could really go to the next level with some stand-out visual attacks. I'm unsure how she'd play, but as long as she'd bring a flurry of purple and yellow electricity and shining water all over the screen, I really do think she'd be the most deserving Water element to get remade. We need more characters who offer beautiful visuals in their attacks.
Earth - Rocky Roll. I may have Trap Team, but having not played it yet, my opinions on these two won't sound too great, but I can try. Rocky Roll and Fright Rider always made me wonder how these two would play only as themselves, since they're the only two characters who are actually two Skylanders at once. Being I completely despise Fright Rider, I am going with Rocky Roll here. I'd like to see this short, and rather weak looking character stand up as a hard hitting Skylander by himself. Without "Roll" there, he'd really play differently than what we're used to, and hey... since there's vehicles here, you know Roll would need his own revamp as a vehicle itself.
Magic - Deja Vu. Again, I haven't played Trap Team, but I've seen many videos, I've read a lot of things, etc. Deja Vu is really just something special. Remember when Spyro's Adventure first released, and the internet had an immature freak out, calling it a cheap kid's game to drain the pockets of parents? Remember those days where if you told your friends you played it (assuming you're an adult), you were given bad looks? Deja Vu, to me, resembles change here. I don't even care how she would look or play, but you have to admit, she's a meaningful character. When we would get "disturbing" in Skylanders, it wasn't even disturbing enough to unsettle a toddler. Ghost Roaster is as disturbing as it gets and he looks like a guest character from a Halloween special of Looney Toons. We didn't get "disturbing", "adult", or "mature" as far as the characters were concerned. Then Deja Vu comes, who's potentially one of the most shocking things I've ever seen in a kids game. Looking at her attacks, what they imply? I'm not going to say it but there's a good chance you know what I am talking about. It's ***ing nuts. Deja Vu is the devs way of acknowledging its adult fans, and the game acknowledging it's no more *just* a kids game.
