This one is about a more mature and graphic topic so I will spoiler it. I just really wanted to get this off my chest somewhere because it always haunts me:

Vore in general is something I really don't like (except for the super cartoony stuff like what most dA artists of a younger nature would make, in which case, I'm just indifferent), but I honestly am offended by/hate soft vore MORE than hard vore, which is probably an unusual mindset.

For those who don't know the difference, hard vore is literally just straight up the victim being torn up and eaten. It's gory and raw "monster/feral animal eats person/creature". I don't like it either (it's often used for people to express their hate for fictional characters or whatever which just seems petty, especially in fandoms for family friendly characters and their respective universe/show/game/etc), but at the very least, that is merely just violence and gore, and nothing more - I can stomach violence and gore. It's shallow and it honestly isn't that eventful in most cases.

But soft vore entails that the victim is kept in one piece, but (in non-cartoony or humourous contexts), it also generally entails that the victim is digested slowly over time. That's honestly just more depressing.

But what really gets to me about soft vore, in combination with the above, is the fact that it's a popular sexual fetish. So what most non-humourous soft vore imagery/comics end up being about, is a beautiful female character being portrayed as a completely helpless damsel in distress (even if said character is super powerful canonically), picked up by a monster while struggling to get out (usually by tentacles or something sharp, like a claw of a monster), having their clothes ripped off, having their lady bits fondled, maybe a tentacle stuck up their private area and maybe their mouth too, dropped into the mouth onto the giant monster's tongue and bounced around, with breasts jiggling and their private area further violated with a giant tongue, clamouring not to be swallowed but ultimately failing, a view of their legs and breasts being squeezed together as they are swallowed, only to be dropped into the stomach. Some comics end it on the woman sitting depressed, humiliated, and defeated in the stomach, with a small stream of stomach acid starting to pour in, leaving the implication that they will be burned and eventually dissolved and digested in the stomach. Then some comics just have it to where the stomach already has a pool of stomach acid in it, and the woman drowns in it (and that last panel will of COURSE make sure the woman's scared face, as well as her breasts, are still just in view as she drowns in the acid).

Even if they don't go that detailed all of the time, I just hate it. I hate that this is "sexy" to people. At least with hard vore, the character is pretty much done quickly, and it generally isn't trying to be sexual at all (I know there are people who still get off to hard vore but they are just completely sick). But with soft vore like this, the character goes through literal rape before being swallowed, and then when they are in the stomach, they are either burned alive for a few seconds, or they sit there and wait as they are slowly burned alive, as an empty stomach fills. And the fact that beautiful female characters are often the targets, and the fact they are often portrayed as helpless regardless of their actual canon abilities and power, just makes it worse. It feels like the fetish literally exists to completely humiliate female characters for the pleasure of white trash men in their basement.

And worse still - this isn't just used for hate against characters. Often times, people making these claim to LOVE these characters. But judging by their comments, they only love them for their bodies and nothing else. If they love your body, they want to see you simultaneously raped and eaten whole.

I think I first developed this repulsion when I saw the "Cell eats Android 18" scene in Dragonball Z when I was a kid. I still hate that scene, I am convinced it was intentionally fetishistic and perverted, meant to appeal the people who like this sort of thing.

I'm sorry but I just really hate it.

^I didn't really knock the people who like it. I didn't say "stop liking what I don't like". I just find it a disturbing fetish and I find it disturbing that people would get off to it, especially to the obsessive degree I have seen from some. I won't try to convince anyone to stop liking it because I know I don't have the power to do so. Though I would admittedly rather not know a person has this fetish, it makes it really awkward for me when trying to socialise with them, as it changes my perspective of them.

I should also clarify that I am mostly bothered by the non-consensual kind, because it is fusing rape with a slow and depressing, painful, and most humiliating death. I actually am largely indifferent to the consensual kind, because most of those don't end with death and it doesn't feel like the character is being completely humiliated, as they asked for it, and it doesn't feel as serious or grim. I know that "monster/human" couples and what not are a thing in some fandoms and so consensual vore sometimes happens. While vore is generally weird to me, I see it as fairly harmless unless it's hard vore or non-consenual soft vore. Rape is something I hate to begin with (real or fictional), especially when it's glorified as sexy, and a lot of soft vore basically has this happen, with a grim and depressing death at the end, which makes it twice as bad.

Quote:
at the same time, that's why some other people like this sort of content. It can range from masochism to a complete dominance over someone

I understand that's why people like it in some cases, but that doesn't mean I have to be OK with it. I understand why Hitler did what he did to the Jews, for example. I get the reasoning behind it. Doesn't make it any less sick to me (it arguably makes it more sick).

Quote:
get off to it from a purely fantasy aspect. None of them (or at least I would hope) would participate in this stuff IRL, even if it were possible.

There actually are people who wish they really could see a someone (usually a woman of course) being swallowed whole like this (heck, a lot of the time, just looking in the comments of a piece of vore artwork or whatever will show overly enthusiastic comments of "oh how I wish I could see her beautiful face screaming for my help as I jack off to her and watch her be swallowed" or "I'd love to swallow her whole and rumble her around in my belly, listening to her beautiful, screaming voice". And even with people who say they only enjoy it from a fantasy standpoint, I can't entirely trust that notion for a variety of reasons.

Quote:
There is no reason to get overly offended over the concept. If you don't like it, then it isn't worth your time looking at.

Just like how you can't help if you are attracted to this sort of thing, I can't help if I am absolutely repulsed by it. I can't help if it makes me feel frustrated and sad at the same time, and I can't help if I get a headache and feel like throwing up when I see it.

I ALSO can't help whether or not I see it. It's not like I actively search for and view this stuff (I only did this once to find out the scope of the fetish and affirm my disgust for it - even then, I looked at the comments much more than the pictures/videos themselves). Like I said, it's a surprisingly popular fetish. It comes up when you don't expect it to.

At the end of the day, if you enjoy that sort of thing (dunno what specific kind you enjoy but it's kinda irrelevant), it's your business and not mine. I was just venting my frustrations with the existence of the fetish itself (or really, a specific derivative of it), as it's been creeping into my searches on tumblr and what not a lot lately. I wasn't intending to start a discussion or anything, I just wanted to get it off my chest.

^You can, as I was explaining the formula of my logic.

Not everyone gets why I am repulsed by what I am despite understanding it, but by comparing it to something that almost everyone is repulsed by, it becomes a bit more relatable, as the formula of what causes me to feel what I do is now more clear.

Every point and explanation can be broken down to a formula, without exception. In this case, the point of my repulsion being escalated by understanding why people like this fetish, and the point of Hitler's actions also being more sick when you know why he did it, are literally just the same point, using the same formula, just with different contexts/examples. Meaning they are immediately comparable regardless of the difference of severity between the two contexts. If you can understand one, you have no excuse not to understand the other, as the logical formula of the two statements is identical.

I don't see where you are going with this.

The person I was talking to understood my point perfectly so the comparison must have been appropriate enough to explain my point.

If you don't get it, that's your issue, not an issue with my logic.

I don't see how "something seeming worse when you understand the full truth" is a flawed or illogical concept, seems pretty straightforward to me.

Speaking of popular, I cannot stand Egoraptor/Arin. Do I even need to say why? Whines if the game helps, whines if the game doesn't, whines if he's told to do anything, whines if he's left to his own devices. The attitude of being extremely close minded in his gaming opinions(adding to the whine since he'll find reasons out of his *** to criticize what he doesn't like) makes me wonder how in heck he's functional enough to keep the GG channel going without ragequitting over a minor issue.

Yeah but people usually go for real negative points or taken out of proportion ones. His entire reason to hate some games he played when I still watched were 'it has a tutorial and won't let me skip it' or 'it let me skip the tutorial and now I don't know how to play' which feels disgustingly spoiled.

The reason I don't like Egoraptor is because, on it's own, the whole ignorant "WHY DIDN'T THE GAME HELP ME" and "WHY DID THE GAME HELP ME" back and forth whining is just a case of "yet another rage gamer".

But with Egoraptor, he spends MONTHS making those Sequelitis videos where he sits down and tries to think about game design and tries to put himself out there as someone who knows what he's talking about on the subject. The Mega Man one is actually really good and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about conveyance and teaching tools in game design. I'd say the Castlevania one is actually quite good too.

However, he makes a point in those videos about how "MODERN game developers think we're all stupid so they add tons of tutorials that just tell the player what to do". But then when you watch him in GG, he literally puts on full display the reason why obvious tutorials and handholding exist in games these days. He can't even register the most obvious clues on how to complete a section, even in games designed for kids.

I particularly hate his treatment of the Sonic franchise, he absolutely strives to make it look as bad as he possibly can, to influence both Danny and the fanbase into thinking Sonic games are bad, and they hang on his every word. I'm not gonna say Sonic Adventure is a perfect game, but Egoraptor went out of his way to make that game look as bad as he could, right down to the fact he SPECIFICALLY chose to play a notoriously bad and buggy port of the game, claiming that it was the "less buggy" version. He also made specific sections look more complicated than they needed to be, prime example being the wind paths in Windy Valley. When he first comes to one, he dies multiple times on it, as he keeps jumping off of it. He says that you need to "jump and finagal (is that even a real word?) with the controller while in the air" to get by the section...but literally all you have to do is hold forward, and you automatically get dragged by the wind, you don't have to jump at all. The hint orb he touched even told him this and he still kept jumping.

Oh, and for some reason, it repeatedly failed to don on him that he might have to defeat an enemy as Knuckles, to find an Emerald piece. Like, for gods sake, you're playing as a Knuckles. Knuckles is a fighter, so it shouldn't surprise you that he would have to punch something on occasion to progress.

Also he holds old games to the same standards as newer games, which just isn't fair. There is a difference between a badly designed game and a game with dated and limited technology. The latter can still be well designed.

Yeah, but you can't hate a movie just because of a given actor in the movie. I feel that people went in to the movie expecting a serious video game movie when in reality it isn't supposed to be taken seriously, it's a 'joke movie' that you don't take too seriously and just have a laugh while watching it. Mundane Matt's video review actually reflects my views on the movie.

I'm not a fan of western games (the modern ones anyway). The only western games I can think of at the moment that I like are the Assassin's Creed franchise and The Last Us. I prefer Nintendo and Square Enix (the later mainly for the Kingdom Hearts franchise). I still like the occasional family orientated 3D platformers that western companies bring out every now and then (although not as much as they used to), like the upcoming Yooka-Laylee game. I'm one of those people who prefer western games years go when there were a lot more good 3D platformers that were generally more the 'latest thing' like Spyro, Crash, Croc, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo-Kazooie, Rayman (although this series has started back up again), etc. I'm not going to lie, I think it's mainly the fact that most western games now seem to have a trend of having a protagonist that's a buff middle-aged male with a lookatmei'msohardcore attitude that puts me off of them, since I'm literally the opposite of that so I tend to feel uncomfortable playing as these characters.

Speaking of Rayman, I'd have to say this sooner or later. It's probably ruined hype because of the overpriced version(oh sorry,"definitive edition" which actually doesn't change from the real one) that was sold in my country, but I prefer Rayman Origins over Rayman Legends. Of course I love the new style and graphics, but it just felt like Legends was made of filler and never went anywhere with the little story it had(beat the five Magicians! Oh yeah let's pretend Bubble Dreamer won't create some more), while Origins at least had an ultimate objective there(find out who was behind the entire mess).

A big shame too, because with the whole WiiU-to-multiplataform mess, which only added challenge mode and AI Murphy(it's not that clear if Back to Origins wasn't there already), could've been so much more and not just a few high points on the graphics and musical levels.

Back to Origins was added to Legends in the few extra months caused by the delay. They also added Kung Foot in that time.

I prefer Legends to Origins though, personally. Both are amazing games, but despite Legends pretty much saying "**** it" to having a story altogether, I just felt like it did everything else better (kind of a bit like how I compare Super Mario Galaxy and it's sequel, only even more extreme in this case). In particular, it used it's world themes much better. Almost every level in an Origins world (except for the food themed one) looked too samey to me, generally always being the same thing. To make matters worse, it had a whole second world for each theme for the latter half of the game. Legends didn't do this, it simply had bigger worlds and levels from the get go, and they play with their world themes more. For example, the Olympian world made use of Mount Olympus, the Underworld, and it had a level set in an Olympian Labyrinth, as well as Olympian temples, just to name a few examples. They all fit under the same Olympian theme, but they had their own feel and felt like completely different locations in the world that played with different elements. I also just preferred the idea of basing a world off of a fictional film trope (e.g medieval fantasy and barbarians, sci-fi spy movies, Greek mythology, etc), rather than sticking the typical New Super Mario Bros method of "grass world, desert world, ice world, etc" like Origins did.

Also the Challenge Mode was amazing for people inclined to speedrun and what not, like myself.

And Back to Origins basically kinda made Origins redundant for me. I know it doesn't have all of the levels from Origins, but it has more than half of them, and they basically trimmed out levels that weren't particularly good. Legends just also feels better than Origins mechanically as they refined the controls and moves a bit. I also thought the costume variety in Legends was much better.

The costume variety was really pointless to me really. Oh cool we can play as a girl. Look, now you can play as her 10 palette swaps, like that adds anything else.

I know it's more polished and better overall, I just can't bring myself to like it because my experience was so bad with it,and in the end everything felt pointless, no spectacular final boss like Big Mamma or Magician(both ripped out from Origins with no cutscene or context for new players, heck without even Land of the Livid Dead). And when I spend 190 bucks(uuh,at the time's conversion rates... About 70 dollars for a X360 game) to feel like it was pointless... Not any amount of positives I KNOW there are in the game bring me back for it. Sold that game away in a jiffy.

This.Rayman Legends is my favorite game of all time.

I really love the Legend of Zelda franchise.

That's not even close to being unpopular.

I can't stand Shin Megami Tensei, or anything else by Atlus.

I was never really interested in Splatoon.

I like Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2. They're not the best games around, but they're really not that bad like most people say...

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a good game. I do admit I thought the story went a bit downhill when you had to gather the mirror shards and I didn't like how they shoved Ganondorf in at the last minute. So it does have it's flaws, but it's still a good game. I've noticed that it's been dissed a lot lately, but I honestly think it was the last good Zelda game. Skyward Sword was terrible and the DS games weren't that good (PH was ruined for me with the Temple of the Ocean King, and Spirit Tracks was fun to play but I never liked the train idea), and Triforce Heroes doesn't interest me. And I didn't think that ALBW was all that good tbh. The OoT remake and MM remake are what kept me interested in the Zelda franchise after TP, and I'm hoping that the Zelda WiiU won't be a disappointment. Although so far I'm liking the direction it's gone and I'm looking forward to this open world concept; something that the franchise should have taken up awhile ago. I'm hoping that the Zelda WiiU game will make the franchise great again.

And as for Skyward Sword, a lot of people think the first half wasn't good and that it gets a lot better during the second half, but I thought it was the opposite. I actually didn't mind the first half and I thought it was really interesting exploring the three lands for the first time, but it got terrible in the second half. The instrument was a disappointment to play and I was looking forward to playing that. I couldn't even finish the game so I just went 'screw it' and looked up how it ended online. Also the Silent Realm was a terrible idea and shouldn't have existed.
