A 3DS portal from any game works with all 5 games, correct? I want to pick up all of those second hand sometime soon.

My Trap Team Wii U portal should work with all 5 Wii/Wii U versions, I think, but I haven't checked it. It does, right?

The 3DS portals past Giants will not work with the console versions, due to the fact that the USB port is only included on the SSA and SG portals. They got rid of that in Swap-Force. In reality, a 3DS portal will only work in SSA, SG, and SSC, if you're not wanting to use Traps or two Swap-Force. Although, Traps may work if you put them right next to the wire. But, I haven't tested it, considering that I don't own Superchargers yet.

Also, the Trap Team Wii U portal will work with all versions of any game, except for the XBOX One, XBOX 360, and 3DS versions.

^ Sorry, I meant the 3DS portals from any work with any 3DS version of the game.
Though that's cool that they work with SSA, Giants, and SC console version.

I've used my SSA portal for every 3DS game since with no issues.

Oddly, Superchargers 3DS shows the SWAPForce portal on the back, but my copy came with the SSA-style portal.

Maybe I should try specifically for a SSF portal for the 3DS version just in case then.

That is weird. Maybe I'm misremembering what I used with SWAP Force. I might have to try again.

The Giants and Spyro's Adventure portals will work in any game outside of SSF. They specifically wired the new portal and programmed the game so that only the SSF portal will work. Sure. you can use the Giants portal in STT and SSC, but then you can't use Swap-Force.

I think every 3DS portal except the SF portal uses the SSA design, so maybe that's what got you mixed up.


Anyway, if you want the least amount of portals for the maximum amount of compatibility, you'll need the Trap Team portal for consoles (it's the only one that works in every console game, and unlike the SuperChargers portal it will activate instant Hot Streak in SuperChargers, removing the need to always put a vehicle on the portal) and the Swap Force, Trap Team, or SuperChargers portal for the 3DS games (any of those three will work for all 3DS games, but if you're buying used then I'd recommend the SF portal since it will be cheapest and easiest to identify).
