I wouldn't call that hypocritical because it's only natural for you to respond to topics like that.

Also I wouldn't call that music topic advertising. You were just showing people things you have done and are proud of. There have been many topics showing off arts, crafts, and other physical items they have created. Only your's was digital. And it wasn't that bad either.

I have always wondered this do-not-advertise clause. But I have interpreted it in the fashion that as long as one is not personally making direct profit out of the art one is promoting, it is ok. Of course this rule is actually quite hard to enforce in general.

Why would you even think you were advertising your album? You weren't selling your album you were basically sharing your music with all of us. It's not for sale so yea you're only sharing with us and I must say, thank you CAV, I really do enjoy listening to the music. ^.^

You're giving something away for free, but you have an option to donate if they feel like it. They can pay you, but they don't have to. I don't think it counts as advertising.

But the donations are not being pocketed by you. Wouldn't you be using the donated monies for any equipment you would need to continue making your music? There has to be some sort of fee to produce an album, yes? When you look at the whole picture technically you aren't making a profit from the album.

Actually I am profiting since that money goes to me and there's no fee to uploading to Bandcamp or Soundcloud. Any money donated may likely go to investing in equipment or digital synths or other means to make it better if it's enough to support such but that money does go into my Paypal. The last album brought in some money and while it's not enough for the equipment or things I need it can be invested if I choose or it can be spent on other things I might not afford otherwise.

That said two people donated and neither of them did so through the site so yeah it probably isn't a big deal. Thanks for the input Carol.
