I have dyspraxia (DCD//Developmental Co-ordination Disorder) which affects my hand-eye coordination.

Quote: Trix Master 100
Asperger's Syndrome. It's a type of disease on the Autism scale. Honestly it's a disease where communication is hard for the person with the disease. Honestly if I wind up repeating myself on a subject, I feel like I am being misunderstood, which is why I don't like certain subjects.

Yep, this is what I have.

I was just thinking I was the only dyspraxic here..I literally know nobody else with it except my favourite singer smilie

For me I don't mind talking about them because I don't know you guys but I do....that make sense? I know youse on the internet and not in real life. Maybe that's the same for everyone else who posted?

I don't think I have anything really, other than I can't see that well. MY little brother, on the other hand, has something called P.A.N.D.A.S (yes it's real) which makes him act very autistic, OCD, and ADHD.

I think everyone gets depressed at times, and everyone has a few "this has to be right or else it bugs me" moments they call OCD. Unless you're diagnosed by a doctor about it, you don't definitely have it.

And how come everyone's so comfortable sharing their disabilities here?

I wasn't actually diagnosed with OCD but most of the other stuff, yeah. Although, you don't necessarily need to be diagnosed to know that you have it. I knew about my problems for quite awhile before going to someone about it. It was more of a confirmation than anything else. Some people do overreact or quickly jump to conclusions, yeah, but you know your own body and mind better than others do.

And for being OCD, it's not only just 'OMG this needs to be exactly how I want it otherwise it will annoy me!!!" There are other behaviors and mindsets that can be considered OCD behavior. It's called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for a reason; it can be kind of a broad term, really.

As for the being comfortable thing.. it's not really the fact that I'm comfortable telling people about it, I just don't really care on here. All of my problems are beyond my control. I am who I am, so there's really no point in hiding it. Plus, this is the Internet. If this were an IRL conversation I probably wouldn't be so open about it unless I was comfortable with you.

Out of curiosity, how many of you have been diagnosed with depression by a psychologist/psychiatrist? I see the term depression being used a lot here, I just want to see how many of you are doing something about it.

I was diagnosed with PTSD and depression by a psychologist and psychiatrist. I had counseling and took meds for awhile but they are unable to stop the anxiety attacks. I still have them as well as nightmares. To me it's not a disability, it's just really hard to live with.

Well I wanted to let people know that I don't function like the average human being here. I want to be more social, but I always have the most trouble trying to talk or type, either getting myself confused while talking or skip a word while typing (Which has been happening a lot lately).

I mean isn't the first step for help is admitting that you do need help? Not saying everyone here is asking for help. But I think they just want to be understood about these issues.

*snip*

I've never met or spoken to anyone else that has dyspraxia. It can be a bit tough sometimes, especially when I was made to do games which involved catching in physical education at school. Luckily I've left so I never have to do it again. I don't know if it is rare, if so I guess that we are just unlucky!

Because, if everything goes fine, I might not have it in possibly a couple of months!

I do have anxiety. To what extent, I'm not really sure. But likely severe, since I obsess over pretty much everything I do and say. Occasionally I just break down completely, so badly that I can't even go to school that day.

I suppose with some strange mentality one could consider "Aspergers" to be some sort of "disease/disability, although I fail to see it as such.

oh and asthma i guess if that counts

We may have disadvantages but just take a look at the positives that comes with aspergers.

1. Focus
Your ability to focus on one objective over long periods of time without becoming distracted allows you to accomplish large and challenging tasks.

4. Internal Motivation

5. Attention To Detail

Your ability to recognize and speak the truth that is being "conveniently" ignored by others can be vital to the success of a project or endeavor.
8. Logical Decision Making
Your ability to make logical and rational decisions and stick to your course of action without being swayed by impulse or emotional reactions allows you to navigate successfully through difficult situations without being pulled off-course.

Nothing really. I might have misophonia since I get angry whenever I have to listen to someone eating. It's not that it annoys me, it just makes me angry.

Supposedly it's a neurological disorder and has nothing to do with any sort of mental connotations.
