I'm guessing because of the sensitive skin of the head...? It's like when you brush your teeth and toothpaste gets on your lips and it feels like it burns. It's a thin sensitive layer of skin.

I always thought it was weird that my left calf muscle is noticeably larger than my right one, especially since there's no dominant leg (even though some people say the dominate leg is the one you step forward with first, one step doesn't build even close to enough muscle to make such a difference). It'd be understandable to have a bigger right arm than a left one if you're right handed, or visa versa, but with legs, the 'dominant' leg isn't effected by walking any more than the other one.
