Typically, people assume that those who speak with a Southern U.S. accent are not intelligent.


Simultaneously, people assume that those who speak with an English accent are very intelligent.


However, if you've ever been on the Internet, you know that both of those are NOT always true.

There are ignorant and intelligent people all over the world. An accent isn't going to affect any of that. But I feel like most of us, if not all of us, already knew that.

Lol stereotypes

People with German accents are always angry. :L Similar with Russian.

People with New Yorker accents being either:

1. Jerks
2. Egotistical of where they live
3. Mobsters
4. Yankee fans
5. Italian American
6. The bald robber from Home Alone.

I really hate the "Canadian accent" other countries seem to think we have and display in movies. I have never met a Canadian that sounds like that. Maybe up in the middle of butt **** nowhere, but definitely not here in Southern Ontario.

I know a few Canadians that live down here (U.S. state of Georgia) and the accent is definitely there, just not as exaggerated as it's made out to be.


You probably don't hear it because you're so used to it. I sometimes have trouble detecting Southern accents.

Now, I'm not saying there are no racists down here, because there are. But I will definitely say that tolerant people with good sense outnumber the racists very substantially.

Almost my entire maternal side of the family lives in New York (mostly Utica). And they're all full-blooded Italian. My mom herself is a third generation American.
