I love how they retconed the battle to make it look better. I wonder if Superman killing thousands of people and Zod will cause the no killing rule. Gal looks kinda believable but Lex is just. Eh....

This looks like absolute **** imo. The first few minutes of the trailer looked alright, but as soon as they introduced Lex, the quality dropped. He feels more like a Joker than Lex Luthor to me. Also, worth noting that when Wonder Woman hits the wall, the CGI looks really bad. Like, The Hobbit bad.

It'll almost definitely cause the rule. I feel like this stuff happened because Superman was new to the whole saving thing and felt like there was no choice.

Lex is clearly portrayed differently and younger here, and I do think casting may not have been a good choice here, but I'll hold out until I see more of him.

You can clearly see after he kills Zod how broken up he is. This remorse is probably what leads him to adopt his policy of never killing. Meanwhile Batman likely always had that ideal from the start judging by his insistence in being the last good person in Gotham.

Oh, the only things I know about Superman are the things shown in Man of Steel. I thought Zod was his nemesis oops.

Zod's one of his bigger enemies but he's not his big nemesis in the same way Joker is to Batman.

Michael Rosenbaum is and always will be the best Lex Luthor to me.

I think Bryan Cranston would have made a great Lex Luthor.

But I didn't like Man of Steel, I hate Batman in general (save for the Arkham games), and with the introduction of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg in a world without the Justice League yet, what point do I have in seeing it at all? They're overstuffing it, and it would have worked much better if the rest of the Justice League got solo movies before they were all crammed into this one with barely any introduction.

While I'm ranting about how ****ty the DCCU looks, I'll also point out that Suicide Squad looks pretty bad too. We don't need the Joker or Batman in it, neither of them have a place in it, the Joker looks terrible, and most of the character costumes look pretty trash too, save for Harley, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang.

I admit that I may be more excited than others probably because from the get go I really liked Man of Steel, flaws and all, and have wanted to see DC make a darker CU in contrast to the lighter and more colorful MCU (not to say that it's bad, but that something different is nice).

Suicide Squad, from what I saw with the leaked trailer looks kinda meh, but mostly because I hardly know anyone in the roster. Leto doesn't seem as awful as I expected him to be (though maybe he shouldn't try too hard to replicate Ledger).

I personally am getting really sick of the dark and edgy superhero stuff, a la Nolan's Batman, Fantastic Four, and hell, for as much as I love them both, Age of Ultron and Daredevil too. Whenever a lighthearted and fun superhero movie or show comes out, I really enjoy it (like how GOTG is my favorite movie and The Flash is my favorite show) because it feels like the world is way too insistent on making all the things people loved growing up "darker and grittier".

It's in Leto's best interest not to use any of the past Jokers as inspiration, though Ledger's Joker was FANTASTIC, it's better if we get something different. Everyone who plays a role that's been played in the past should change it up and make it their own. That's what made 11 my favorite Doctor, Garfield my favorite Spider-Man, and Ledger my favorite Joker.

I enjoy MCU's lighter hearted attitude and ability to not get weighed down by trying to be gritty and dark. GotG is probably my favorite in the entire MCU for going all out with its nonsense and acknowledging that it's all really silly. But at the same time I can enjoy darker themes when done right, and it's why I really hope DC can pull it off. It provides more options.

Also Ledger was my favorite joker. I'd still rather Leto not try and copy him and instead make the role his own.

Same, but at least the industry is getting a little better with that. For Batman, it looks like we're getting a little mystery involving why he retired too, and for Spider-Man, apparently he's already a hero by the time Civil War comes along.

Did anyone see the leaked Suicide Squad trail? Leto is basically the alternate version of Nicholson if he was a mob boss.

But after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron, it seems like the MCU is trying to get darker. Granted, they have breaks in between these movies with a more light hearted one like GOTG or Ant-Man (which I'll report on after I see it), it still feels like each movie is trying to get darker and darker. I didn't think Age of Ultron pulled off dark themes right, but I feel like Daredevil did, so maybe not all is lost for Marvel's darker themes, but I'm really not digging the "edgy" reboots of popular franchises that's been happening as of late.

I think with the MCU it's sort of a natural progression. After the big bombastic first film (Avengers) you tend to have the more somber, even a bit darker second film (Winter Soldier; Age of Ultron). Then from there you can go even more dark, or you can lighten up a bit while still having the stakes extremely high. We'll see what direction they go with when Infinity War comes along.

And yes I do think there are too many gritty adaptations and reboots. But personally I think DC is the one company that could justifiably get away with it if done right.

Okay I said in the past that i'm not looking forward to the DCCU, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't somewhat excited after seeing this trailer now. Wonder Woman and Lex look meh but the action looks great so far. I still think it's stupid how DC is trying to rush the DCCU, and the movies are probably going to suffer as a result, but now i'm kind of hoping that this is at least decent.

Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron were still able to keep Marvel's lighthearted nature of their films pretty well though. There were many times where the audience was roaring with laughter at some scenes in both films when I saw them, more so in Winter Soldier's case. they still kept the humor and fun that Marvel is known for.

Marvel knows exactly what they're doing with the themes and nature of their films. They keep them lighthearted and fun so that just about anyone can enjoy them, but they add the darker tone to them as well so that there are actual stakes, which means a lot when you have characters that you start to care about a lot like the superheroes in the MCU.

As for DC, it's not the idea of a cinematic universe i'm against(I would love to see a Justice League movie), it's the fact that DC is trying to put so many movies out in so little time, and with different heroes getting their own solo movies during the JL: part 1 and 2 gap and even after part 2, you gotta wonder how they're even going to make a cohesive story without screwing something up. Marvel had years and years of planning for the MCU, and it was a risk that really payed off. DC, with the way they're handling it, seems more like a cash grab due to the popularity of the MCU.

I've never been a big DC fan, but i do like Superman so i might give this a try.

Batman is just meh..
