Yeah, it doesn't seem to be a big thing anymore. I suppose it isn't really surprising, since that's what usually happens with popular things. One minute it's all you ever hear about, and the next minute people have moved on and don't really care anymore. I think the show is still continuing though, so obviously there are still people who care. But still, it's not as huge as it was a few years ago. But it doesn't really make a difference to me since I was never a fan anyway.

I used to be a brony from 2011 to 2013. Stopped later in 2013 because I'm losing taste in the show, and also because I'm beginning to think most MLP-related media is weird. Here in present day, I get really annoyed whenever I look at something with MLP. Then Equestria Girls comes in to make matters worse.

A lot of prominent figures moved onto other things or downplayed it. Not to mention the supposed questionable quality of recent episodes (I haven't caught up yet) leaves the show itself to be more like any other kids show on TV rather than the exceptional program it used to be.

FNAF took its place as the big internet fad.

and by reconstruction I mean the death of die hard brony fans.

It's still a thing, lots of hype around the current season 5 ESPECIALLY when the SOL (Slice of Life) episode happened as it was all backround ponies (the Mane 6 had like 2 lines of dialogue in the entire episode)

so far this is what i got out what happened

for me, i got bored and left the fandom when the hype train was still going. during this time part of the fandom where jamming it down peoples throats and believed the show the the BEST THING EVER, and closed there eyes from ridicule and how imperfect it was.... then when people stop giving a F:>lk about MLP and it's fandom. then fandom turned on one another and cannibalized each other in flame wars and ect...

now the same people who where jamming it down peoples throats, got bored and left. whats left over are some creators and fanfic writers that keep the fandom from totally collapsing , and most adult watchers and fans are now lurking through what ever is left of the fandom?

so far it looks like the hype of the show is almost dead, and there is way less content than before. does this mean the end is close at hand, or has it dipped down to a level where it can still survive

did i get this summery right... it's interesting how this played out in a psychology perspective :3

Not dead, just a lot less vocal (thankfully). I still see tons of them in avatars and signatures in forums, but the crazy ones devoted to "converting" others and spreading everywhere seem to have gotten bored due to people not caring anymore, and moved on to something else to pester people about.

I'm still very much a fan of the show and the part of the fandom where I usually hang out, and very happy that the annoying brats are a lot fewer and further between nowadays. Much more pleasant when the ones still around are the good kind of fans, for the most part.

Still, rather good to hear it's not as big a deal as it was before.

I haven't kept up much with anything MLP since the huge boom back in 2011, but from what I've seen, it kinda sounds like the Bronies that say it's still huge are just in an echo chamber of the significantly smaller fanbase saying the same thing.

I don't have anything against Bronies, but I'm pretty sure the fanbase has been dying for awhile.

*Looks at his own avatar and username.* Yeah I'm not really into it like at all whatsoever. But it's a part of my past that I'm not going to try to hide or anything. What I saw of it was good, and that Season 5 episode does interest me, I saw the first couple minutes of it, but the website I was streaming from took ages to buffer and I didn't care enough to look for another way to watch it or anything.

I didn't finish season 4, but when I watched an episode or two after several months of being behind, they were still decent quality, I thought, but I just haven't been nearly interested enough in catching up on MLP. Right now I'm more interested in lots of other things.

Right now I'm trying, once again, to start working on making Let's Play videos. >.> Only, ones that are actually of any quality, rather than... well, something like this, or like stuff I've long since deleted from my youtube channel.

Sometimes I might come back if there was focus on a different character or a plot based on one event in the early seasons but if it's something so obvious like that Princess Spike episode, in which he does something similar to when it was his birthday, I'm out. Inform when the CMC finally get their cutie marks or it we get to see Starswirl the Bearded and not when Fluttershy has to overcome a certain fear again.

I moved on to anime. Lost interest in mlp but if I watched it I can still find it enjoyable. I haven't seen many of the season 5 episodes. I will get round to watching them all.
I sold the odd mlp toy that I knew would go for a lot of money. Ponies that weren't part of the main 6, they were random ones that I didn't care for as they only existed in toy lines. Basically the ones that collectors want. I got around £40 and just bought Madoka figures ahaha.

Pinkie Pie got really unbearable for me so that might have played a part?

Pretty much. The community isn't quite dead but it's shrinking and people seem to like to think they're still a huge deal and the best fanbase out there (when my own personal experiences leave me to think it's among the worse; I can get into that more if people really want).

The days of having 40+ conventions in a year all with brimming attendance are just about gone, and it may be for the best that bronies start to accept that they aren't some big internet counterculture anymore, but a niche fanbase akin to Homestuck or Homestar Runner.

Were they a big thing to begin with?

I always saw it as a few people that liked the show and a lot of others that saw it as a way to try and stand out and become popular.

As i said i am an old school Brony, and i find it sad that people are dragging it down just to try and make themselves look good.

I wouldn't even count Homestuck as a niche fanbase anymore, after the Gigapause, most everyone I know lost interest in it. That's what you get when you put a very popular story on hiatus for almost 2 years.

The MLP fanbase was certainly a huge thing around 2011-2013. It was constantly bustling with activity and drama, and was practically a counterculture rather than just a standard fanbase. **** ton of fan works of all types, an analysis community that was picking up, loads of conventions (too many for their own good), and a collection of people who despised it to an overblown level as a result of all of it (which only helped make it more notable and popular).

2014 was also probably big because of the reception season 4 got and how big conventions still were. No idea. I also get the feeling a big part of why the fanbase is slowing down right now is because of just how long the wait between seasons was (a full year), leading bronies to move to other things and lose interest.

But I personally think once major retailers start carrying or creating products specifically to target your fanbase, you're something big. MLP was a major fixture of Hot Topic alongside Doctor Who. Probably still is for all I know.

I'll see tshirts, backpacks, plushes, etc. in stores like Hot Topic and FYE and Spencers, but it's always Rainbow Dash. Instead of stores selling general MLP stuff, it seems like she became an icon for the show now. But there isn't as much as there used to be.
