I cannot stress this enough. It’s important that you understand your roles, as well as each challenge’s rules. I encourage you to ask questions if you have any, either by PM or a post in this topic. I'm not out to trick you (save for trick questions, of course) and I do make mistakes. But I won't know unless you point them out.

Play to win!
Simple premise. The game won’t be fun if you’re not trying. So if you don’t intend to put a solid effort into the game, don't plan on taking it somewhat seriously, or you think you cannot commit the time to play this game, please do us all a favor and withdraw. You will be disqualified if you are breaking this rule.

All answers and votes should be submitted in Private Messages
Please do NOT copy the questions into the PM. If you do, you WILL be penalized.

Please check your PMs regularly
You will receive updates with the subject line "Survivor: Day/Night # Results" from time to time.

The default deadline for submitting answers to a challenge or elimination votes is (roughly) 24 hours
Unless specified otherwise.

Flavor text is just for fun
The game has an overarching story. You will all be playing the roles of Legendary Pokémon. Unlike previous seasons, you will NOT be appearing in the flavor text as yourselves. Instead, you will be portrayed as the Pokémon that you've been assigned. Any personality characteristics are strictly for fun and do not represent my opinions of you as a user on the site.

All results and flavor text will be posted on separate Google Docs and shared in the topic

Do not go away if you get eliminated
I like to bring eliminated players back for late-game challenges, so please continue to follow the game even if you're out.

What is meant by this?

You're given your role, including your abilities, via a PM. While you are allowed to say in this topic something like "Durr hey guyz I'm totes Groudon and can destroy you all," you cannot post a word-for-word copy of anything in the role PM. Like I said, there's more explanation stuff to come, so stay tuned. I'm writing the prologue right now. XP

Survivor XI: The Basics

Please take the time to read this over, as this will describe the mechanics of the game!

Synopsis: The world is in jeopardy once more. But what else is new? Mythical Pokémon run wild! Hearing whispers of a Phantom threatening the balance between humans, Pokémon, and the earth itself, Arceus tasks his creations with setting aside their egos and working to end this crisis. But when their differences spurn them into taking opposing sides, can the world truly be saved?

1. The game is divided into chapters.
Each chapter takes place at a new location and consists of 2 parts: Day Phase and Night Phase. During the Day Phase, you compete in a trivia challenge. The player with the highest score earns immunity. During the Night Phase, you vote a player out of the game.

2. Day Phases are 10-question challenges.
Most are based around certain themes, but the questions themselves can come from any subject I can dredge up. Be sure to read the rules carefully. Some challenges may have additional rules, such as penalties for incorrect answers. Answers should always be sent through a PM. You can change your answers as many times as you want before the deadline. But if you change them, you must resend all 10 answers.

The player with the highest score in the challenge wins immunity. If two players tie, there is a tiebreak mechanic in place. If 3 or more tie, no one gets immunity.

3. Night Phases are when players get eliminated.
You are expected to vote every night. Otherwise, you will be listed as "Not Voting." If I notice that you are consistently not sending in a vote, I may choose to boot you from the game or replace you with an alternate. Send your vote to me through a PM.

4. Only players who receive a majority vote will be eliminated.
Unlike past seasons, the player with the most votes will NOT be eliminated straight up. Instead, in order for a player to be eliminated, he or she needs to receive a majority (more than half) of the votes cast that night. If no one player gets a majority of the votes, we will have a revote, but only the players with the 2 highest voting amounts can be voted for.

5. You will each be given a Legendary Pokémon to represent.
Your role is randomly determined. This Pokémon will be your character as long as you're in the game. You may publicly disclose which Pokémon you are, but understand that carries serious risks.

6. Each Pokémon has an Ability.
Most of the abilities are always in use, so you don't need to worry about them too much. There are a few exceptions though, so pay attention.

7. Each Pokémon has 2 moves.
When used strategically, these moves can give you an advantage. Each move has a type associated with it and a number of PP. It costs you 1 PP to use a move, and you are only allowed to use 1 move per chapter. If you want to use a move, you have to PM me indicating which move you're using and, if applicable, who you're targeting. You will be notified of the results at the end of the Day or Night. Unlike past seasons, most of these moves have drawbacks to using them. Use them at your own risk!

Since this is Pokémon, not all moves work on everyone. For example, a Ground type move will miss a Flying type Pokémon. It's up to you to figure out these patterns! If you're confused, I recommend check this page out for more detail: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Type.

8. Each normal role comes with an Upgrade Condition.
We're using a rival system here. So everyone's upgrade condition is to eliminate their rival(s).

9. There are 2 ways to win this game.
The obvious way is to be the last player standing. However, you can also win the team portion if your team is the last one standing.

10. There are 3 teams of 6 Pokémon.
When you are given your role, you will be told whether you are on Team Adamant, Team Lustrous, or Team Griseous, and who your teammates are. HERE'S THE CATCH: You will only know which Pokémon are your teammates. You will NOT know which players are on your team. You are welcome to discuss roles in PMs or in the topic, provided you don't quote your role PM.

So there's some serious strategy to consider here. Do you disclose your role and team alignment? Do you lie about it and hope to trick other players? The choices are yours and yours alone!

I am in the process of sending out Role PMs. It'll take a bit of time, so don't panic. To confirm your participation in the game, you must reply to the role PM with your favorite leisure time activity. These will come into play later. ^.^

All role PMs have been sent out, so I am just waiting on everyone to confirm so Chapter 1 can start. You have now assumed your roles, so the game is officially on. Please adhere to the official rules.

From here on out, you will all be addressed (in flavor text AND voting results, but not day results) as your Pokémon. Yes, this means that you will not actually know who gets eliminated unless the player decides to post "Yeah, I was blah, so now I'm out."
