Gullible Spyro Fans? [CLOSED]

Are Spyro fans becoming gullible nowadays? Like believing fan-made content right away as "official" without researching first, or immediately assuming a never-before-seen image posted on a site known for posting fake leaks is "the real deal". To me, it's kind of embarassing.

Yeah, it's called "false hope"...

Nah, it's not exclusive to just solo Spyro stuff. Someone took a Skylanders fangame idea from a user in here, typos and all, and made it actual rumored news in some site.

Yeah, GoNintendo did that. But some Spyro fans are beginning to believe stuff right off the bat nowadays while desperately waiting for a new Spyro game from "Sony" or "Insomniac".

The Spyro fandom is getting more Gullible over the years, i would say since Skylanders came out, fans are hoping for a "new Spyro game".

Hope =/= gullibility.

The thing I never really wrapped my brain around until now was in order to be remembered, in order to leave something significant behind, you have to leave

Yeah,with hope you keep a close eye, with guillible you just eat up the rumor bait whenever it's in line of sight. Even if it's VERY VISIBLY made up or fanfic-y.

Wanting a new game for a series =/= gullible.

So long as you aren't falling for every little rumor about said series, of course. <.<

This too.

Both of you not that kind of people. And Spyro fans, yes are getting more guillible. Tell them about there's going to be a new Spyro game and boom! They fall for it.

I'm not sure they're gullible. Desperation might be the word I'd use instead. It's easy enough for me to not care about Spyro anymore now that I've found series I enjoy more (certainly helps that said series just so happens to be helmed by Insomniac). But there is a vocal minority out there who just can't seem to live without the dead franchise. <.<;

*sees never-before-seen recycled images of Spyro and Sparx on a cover with the fan name "Spyro & Sparx: The Rise of Gnork"*

"Becoming more gullible"? They've always been gullible. It's just more obvious now because a horde of people freak out every time anyone mentions Spyro in any sort of news article, no matter how unsourced or factless the mention may be.

But some fans are old enough to do research, but chose to believe in false hope at first-sight.

eh... i think that they know it's not official, just that they're desperate for a new spyro game, official or not.

We mustn't forget the latest idiocy, wherein a bunch of fans got all hyped over a new LoS game solely because a different fan said there might be one! 8D ...It was really dumb and there's a dent in my desk from all the times I hit my head on it reading the thread.

Now now, Razz, spyrolvr now knows how wrong he was on that subject, but he is now afraid to come back on since he believes everyone hates him...

Awww... I don't hate him, I'm just a snarky old thing is all. XD And I've seen way, way, waaaay too many "ermahgerd noo Spairoh gaime guize!!!11!" threads over the years with NO evidence to back them up whatsoever. It's gotten really old and this kinda repeated stupidity is enough to make anyone cranky. Honestly, it'd be pretty nice if we instituted a rule in the general/Spyro boards like there is in the Skylanders ones: no unfounded/fake rumors about new games or there will be consequences.

Due to repeated irritations of Spyro fans and their questionable actions of wanting a new game, I sub-consciously started to ignore Spyro-begging threads when looking at topic names. And I almost did it with that topic that's just Q&A with the lead artist of the first two LoS games. I agree with Razz, make a rule on dealing with unfounded rumors; it's just a waste of time for users involved in it to deal with false rumors when the mods can take the necessary procedures.

Speaking of Spyro fans and their hunger of a new Spyro game in increasingly deseparate impulses, Razz and Aura24, in both of your years of being a fan of Spyro in being involved in internet forums, what is the most stuck out memory of Spyro fans being gullible about wanting a new Spyro game?

For me, I try not to pay attention to the topics until the last several months, but the LoS lead artist topic struck me as the most cringeworthy and painful so far; it's just Q&A, not actual hints to a new Spyro game. It makes me wonder how did that user came to the conclusion that there's going to be a new Spyro game.

Yeah, the topic you mention iSO, and another one where an interviewer from a news site decided something his interviewee said meant a new Spyro game are the ones that really stand out for me. Especially that second one. That guy was supposedly a professional and the person he talked to said absolutely nothing about old Spyro (I think it was just a Sony rep saying that they still have the Spyro IP and that was all he said). But the reporter took "We are looking at our old IPs and we do still have the one for Spyro *shrug*" and was just like "OMG, new Spyro?!!!?!" *facepalm* The latest thread is only tedious in that it's original title was 100000% misleading; the topic was about an interview with Jared Pullen. The one screaming about a new Spyro game was the Reddit poster who didn't even do the interview (he was just making his own commentary alongside the stuff people actually cared about), which was annoying in itself, but people being foolish enough to think that a fan talking about another fan who talked to somebody who was just a cog in the development process meant "OMG new Spyro?!!!?!" was just...stupid.
