I personally would have gone with a Swan but that's just me.

The Robin is possibly the most puny of all birds.

New Zealand has a Kiwi, the US have the Bald Eagle.

And we get the ****ing Robin.

Well, our national flower is the (tudor) rose and our national animal is a lion.

edit: also I think the Robin is more accurately attributed to just England, I think Scotland's national birds is the golden eagle.

Robins are pretty cool. In various cartoons they are given a cute look. Also their eggs are blue. You guys get the bird with blue eggs, while us Americans get the bird of prey that scavenges and also lives in Canada.
