Ha! You had to do edexel! AQA FTW!

Although I have no idea how to answer that question either.

ASK spyro and sonic! He'll know.

The question told pupils that Hannah had a bag containing a total of n sweets of which 6 were orange. It said the chances of Hannah picking two orange sweets one after the other was one third and then said use that to prove that n²-n-90=0.

Damn... I put 8 as my answer.
I should get a good grade though, the other questions were quite easy (despite people saying it was the hardest maths exam in 10 years).

By solving the quadratic and disregarding the negative root you can determine that Hannah has 10 sweets.

Ya, but we didn't have calculators, though it is still possible without them.

Thank you smilie

I have just 3 subjects left now: Chemistry C1, History B (Tsarist Russia, Stalin, Vietnam) and Maths 2 (calculator)!

We should make an end-of-exam party topic after all this (on Thursday?)!

Yea, admittedly it would be easier to just factor the quadratic outright than the way I did it.
