Season of Flame and Adventure were good Spyro GBA games. A Hero's Tail was as good as a classic style more modern Spyro game is gonna get.

TLoS and SL are good too - if you don't go into them expecting a classic style Spyro game which they aren't trying to be.

TloS is literally using Spyro's name in game. It doesn't play like a Spyro game, at all.

There are Spyro games after the third one. The last one happened to be Shadow Legacy and that game was darn awful. As for console mainline, A Hero's Tail was the last actual Spyro game.

have you played the isometric fallout games versus the more recent ones? they're not too far of a departure than you think, they're more so a modernization.

You're stretching that really far dude. Mario Sunshine compared to SMB has a lot more similarities and shares its roots way more than old spyro to TloS

Not really. Can you still breath fire in TLoS? Yes. Can you still charge? Yes. Can you glide and hover? Yes. The base gameplay is still the same. Also TLoS Spyro =/= "Classic Spyro? This is again an arbituary distinction made, not fact.

Not really. Can you still breath fire in TLoS? Yes. Can you still charge? Yes. Can you glide and hover? Yes. The base gameplay is still the same. Also TLoS Spyro =/= "Classic Spyro? This is again an arbituary distinction made, not fact.


Are you forgetting how much of a departure TloS was compared to the old games? You could still breathe fire and charge, yeah. But everything else was not similar to old Spyro at all. Hell, do you remember the original reception when ANB was announced? It was a **** storm.

It's a part of the Metroid series. You can't deny it. The Legend of Spyro series is the same. It may be different, it maybe a "spin-off" per se, but it's still a part of the Spyro canon.

TloS is part of the Spyro series, sure. However, it is definitely not close to the OG Spyro games. It definitely does not play like one.
