Adding Zazz instead of..well....anyone else, was a bad idea on Sega's part IMO.

Where are you getting Espio from? I didn't see him at all in the trailer (though I want him to be added so yay if he is).

Diddy Kong and Nabbit have also been added for Team Mario. Hoping (well, more like EXPECTING) Rosalina to show up too. Don't really care who they add beyond her, though Diddy and Nabbit are nice additions. They could probably add Petey Piranha too for the Sunshine Era representation.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was confirmed via a Japanese Nintendo Direct this morning with some details:

– It will be released on Wii U and 3DS
– Rugby and golf will be appearing in the Mario & Sonic series for the first time.
– Jet the Hawk, Rouge the Bat, Espio, and The Deadly Six’s Zazz are playable characters.

We’ll let you know of more info as word gets out along with the inevitable press release.

I get that the article says it, but I don't see Espio in the trailer. Everyone else listed clearly shows up in the trailer in person, but Espio is nowhere to be seen.

I've heard some people say they spotted his flag in the crowd, but I think they are mixing it up with Rouge's flag (I nearly did too).

Well Vector has been playable since the first one, so no surprises there.

Once again, I do WANT Espio to be playable, but I haven't seen any evidence that he is. I checked the background for flags and didn't see any for him.

I see what you mean, I'm pretty sure everyone is mistaking it for Rouge's flag. I honestly feel like the design for her flag is horrible, I mean, pinkish-purple on a light blue background? It's an eyesore, probably why so many people are mistaking Rouge for Espio.

Yeah, since Espio's jump aura colour in Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog was light blue, it's easy to mistake it for him, but it's definitely Rouge on closer inspection. They should have used white and purple for her.

My biggest hope for this game is bringing back the Adventure Tours mode from the DS Winter Olympics game. Hopefully have it in the Wii U version. That mode is still the best thing this series has done. That would sell the game for me. If it isn't, then I guess Rosalina, another cool Sonic addition, cool dream events, a good online mode, and maybe something else original would all contribute to me wanting to buy the game.

I think it's weird how the game is already in English and shown off in the Japanese direct in ENGLISH.

In all honesty, this game actually looks decent. Maybe because it's not just copied and pasted like the last two Mario & Sonic Olympic games were.

I honestly don't see how this game is much different in that regard, at least not yet. Aside from the new characters.

The games were always good party games but not much else, except for Vancouver 2010, especially on DS.

Well... I don't really know either. I guess to me it looks a bit more polished and new compared to London Olympics and the Winter one on Wii U.

Amiibo support would be nice. Not for the game but for consumers. ^.^

Honestly, I noticed the first Summer and Winter olympics games were okay, but the second batch was pretty lame. I wonder if they can make a better game than their last two attempts. My expectations? Like I've said before, we've seen some hits and we've seen some misses with Sega recently.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most are the Mario remixes made by Sega. Those are pure gold.

I really hope this doesn't happen, having Koopalings take up a quarter of the roster in MK8 was bad enough. There are a lot better characters to add before the Deadly Six and Koopalings.

I agree that they shouldn't but with the way nintendo seems to be pushing the koopalings and how the deadly six are on Nintendo I think it's possible but we need a goomba you know however fun he would be and shadow mario possibly espio.

honestly i'm surprised this series is still a thing. You'd think we would get something different for Mario and Sonic by now besides this and Sonic's smash inclusion.

Nintendo and SEGA have a contract with the Olympic Committee to keep making these games, so as long as there are Olympics, Mario & Sonic will be at them.

As for why a more proper crossover has never happened, apparently Nintendo and SEGA couldn't agree on how to handle it, and Miyamoto thinks the "worlds clash too much".

parisruelz, could you change the title to the actual name of the game, "Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games"?

I guess i'm a fan of this series because I like playing the game with my family. My biggest worry if on the 3DS they'll limit the character selection to certain groups. I hate not being Tails in all the olympic events. (talking about London 2012) BTW I like that now I can be Jet!
