Looks like this IP may just go to eShop territory if they decide to make another one, which may be unlikely.
Splatoon will do better than this, in case anyone was wondering how I felt lol. At least Nintendo is trying to advertise that.

No sales data for the US yet. Doubt it did much better, considering Nintendo did all hell to market the game.

In all fairness, Codename S.T.E.A.M. has a different demographic than what is usually expected in Japan. It's has some pretty heavy Western tones to it (and don't most Western games perform poorly in Japan?).
I'm not saying the game sold extremely well or anything, and it's a damn shame that it hasn't, but these low numbers aren't completely out of the ordinary for a game like this. |

I took mine back (didn't even open it) since there weren't any Fire Emblem characters available at launch. I'm convinced that Nintendo doesn't care about much anymore. The WiiU and they way the Amiibo's are going kind of cements that. As always, they're gonna do what they're gonna do and most of us here in the west will wonder what the hell they're doing. It's getting rather cyclical at this point. SNES=AMAZING (best system of all time), N64=WTF why?, Gamecude=Awesome, Wii=While technically a turd it offered something new in gameplay so we'll give it a pass, WiiU=Back to WTF with barely better than PS3 tech and a rehash of Wind Waker and a little less than PS4 and Xbox One??111?!?!!?!!?1/1//. Maybe the next go will be amazing...I sure hope it is.
Just read this. https://games.yahoo.com/news/n...-131200542.html The name coincidence is amazing. Hopefully this guy does the trick. |

The Fire Emblem characters are available at launch, you just need a New 3DS and the Amiibos of the respective characters.

Just saying that the inclusion of FE characters from the Amiibo will not make the game any substantially better than it already is. If you didn't like the base game to begin with, they wouldn't change your mind, and vice versa. So I'm not sure why you passed on what could've been something you liked, or why you bought it in the first place for those figures if you already knew you wouldn't without it. |

A Gamestop employee gave me one of his press demo codes with a lot more to play and unlimited attempts. I liked the game but wasn't sold on it. The ability to play Fire Emblem characters sold it for me. I can't get them anywhere so I didn't get the game. I had it on pre-order and when I picked it up, no F.E. Amiibo's so back it went. I'm one of those "speak with my wallet" kind of people. I also posted that I did this and why on their Facebook page. I doubt they say it but I still spoke my piece. Quote: sonicbrawler182
Had a new 3DS day one...still no F.E. Amiibo's. I've looked at my Walmart everyday, checked my Gamestop every day, checked with TRU once a week as well as Target and Best Buy. So in my area they have not been available. My Gamestop got one wave in last week that was fulfilling January orders so nothing was available for the shelf. So again they are not available off the shelf and never have been (at least in my area). Based on their Amazon and ebay prices I'd say they're not readily available anywhere in the U.S. |

That sucks, I wanted it to do well. Honestly, I didn't buy it myself, but I do plan to eventually.
I think part of the reason is exactly what you said zer0dch, the lack of marketing or even information. The game came out a few months ago and I'm still not entirely sure what I'm getting into due to the lack of explanation. Splatoon's going to do a lot better than Steam. But wow, only 1835 copies. That's more of a nuke than a bomb... |

Is a free eShop demo with 2-3 hours worth of playtime not worthy of being called "an explanation on how the game plays"? Said demo was mentioned in a Nintendo Direct, btw.

Most people didn't know there was a demo. Nintendo also could have shown ways to market it and make it understandable. |

Again, it was announced in a Nintendo Direct. A lot of Nintendo fans were watching it, they just didn't bother to download it, and didn't spread the word, and news sites didn't cover it for some reason.

You realize that Nintendo could have marketed the game outside of a Nintendo direct as well, right? |

Which they did, at stores nationwide such as GameStop and Best Buy with QR Code collectible cards and advertisements with a QR Code to scan to go directly to the demo page.

I meant something that the average TV watcher or internet dweller would see. An ad. Market the game on popular gaming sites like ign and GameSpot. Not the QR stuff |
