If I'm lucky I'll get to Emerald next year. If I go slowly it'll be the next 500 day gem day just before I get there but that's pretty unlikely, mathematically speaking.

Who gives a crap? The gems don't do anything. Surprised dark never implemented some ranking features like most other message boards have.
