it's always been this way. Idle Chatter was never very active.

S&N took over in 2012 more or less. Because S&N is so active, more serious threads that could've been better suited for Idle Chatter get posted there for more attention (besides, the userbase for both sections are similar). So the section gets less activity, people have less reason to check it or care, and the cycle continues.

It's not dying, this is just how this board is. S&N has been the more active of the two boards for a long while now.

It started coding when I returned from stealth mode in mid-2011 and has been on life support ever since. Personally, if I were dark, I'd just axe this board entirely and save the bandwidth. <.<

It should count as Idle Chatter, but because the board is so inactive, many threads involving those subjects get put into the more active Stuff and Nonsense so that it gets the attention OP thinks it deserves.

I'd say this is a good place to make serious threads if you don't want them to be drowned out by pages-worth of "ASK AWESOMEDUDE102" trend threads in Stuff and Nonsense.

Yeah, I've been finding it a disappointment with how the gap between the amount of posts in S&N and Idle Chatter just gets bigger and bigger.
