Whether it was a game cartridge or a disk, why did we think that blowing the game would fix it? Just because it ended up working that one time after we blew it we came to the conclusion that blowing it would fix it.
*sigh* memories

To get dust off/out of it.

Though for discs I wiped it with something for fingerprints as well.

You ever blown into a cup full of dust? It doesn't just scatter inside the cup, but most of it comes out from the force of you blowing in it. The same principle applies here.

How could you've done this when you were born in 97'?

Is it just me, or am I seeing a lot of people trying to be "retro" as if it's suddenly cool.

I still blow on them, and it usually works(apart from some bad DS game called Touchmaster which I own) on my cartridges. I just use a cloth to clean discs on the other hand.

I didn't. I never owned a NES, SNES, Genesis, or N64. And I certainly didn't do that for my GBA or DS. <.<

Couldn't get an image up (also it was the DS cartridge slot, not the carts themselves)
And disks can get dusty as well (for disks it was more a mix of blowing and wiping)

I had to blow on cartridges all the time. They wouldn't work otherwise.

Incidentally, when my 3DS's R button stopped working for a few days, I started blowing on it and it's worked since.
