A friend insisted I try that new Harvey Beaks cartoon, and while I didn't see all the episodes out, I did see a few, and it's actually not nearly as wretchedly awful as most things on that Network these days. While the character animation can shift from nice to grotesque (which I dislike, that's the main reason I couldn't get into Adventure Time or Over the Garden Walls, just couldn't stand their ugly character (or in the case of the former, all kinds of) animation), the backgrounds are soft and painted, along with a surprisingly decent soundtrack. And a decidedly not-formulaic theme song. Also, the parents aren't idiots (from what I saw)! The overall vibe of a lot of episodes is also rather calm, highly unusual for any American series, it really does feel like a slice of life with slight bits of surrealism (and compared to shows like Sanjay and Craig, this is practically Kyoto Animation). I didn't see the pilot (I got told it wasn't any good), but still, from what I have seen, I dare say this is the only decent new series (or any series airing on Nick right now, unless Scott Fellow's upcoming series is any good) on the Nick network, though that's not saying anything anymore. I do dislike the mandatory crude humor though.
I must say, I was rather surprised that they made
Fee and Foo
turn out to be homeless orphans.
Also, I started Mekakucity Actors right after watching Harvey Beaks. It's a wonder my brain survived.

I love Harvey Beaks! The animation certainly isn't the best at times but the show's environment and characters give off a nice, peaceful vibe. It's very refreshing.
Indeed. I'm just afraid it won't be very popular with all the kids demanding more Breadwinners-esque fare -_-

Harvey Beaks is amazing. One of the best cartoons to be made since 2010. I was very supprised Nickelodeon did something right with their animation for once lately.

I got into Animaniacs late. I also still watch Animaniacs, it is amazing and one of the greatest cartoons ever. The movie is boring tho. Maybe you should take off our grey-tinted glasses and be less cynical about such beautiful things.

when did you first start watching animaniacs?
It came out when I was two, I'd sometimes watching when I was like ten or twelve I believe but fifteen or sixteen was when I actually got into it.
