Yes, yet another music topic! As an amateur musician and keen listener, I find this topic pleasant to answer to. To name top 5 bands is a mighty task for me but after a little thought it came to me quite naturally. I shall start from the bottom to the top in this list of mine, name the band and link the currently working YouTube video to the song. Here we go!

• 5. Sandra
  
Sandra is a German synthpop artist who enjoyed great popularity in 1980s and has stayed as a household name at least here in Europe. She is best known by her top two hits (I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena and In the Heat of the Night. But my favourite song of hers is Heaven Can Wait

• 4. Modern Talking
  
Modern Talking was a German discopop band that rose to its popularity also in 1980s and they made a brief triumphant return in the late 1990s all the way to early 2000s. The duo consisted of two remarkably talented individuals Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen. They are most well-known for their hits You’re My Heart, Your My Soul, Brother Louie, Cheri Cheri Lady, Atlantis is Calling (S.O.S. for Love) and Geronimo’s Cadillac. To me their song Don’t Worry has always been the most memorable.

• 3. Lunatica
  
Lunatica is Swiss symphonic metal band that produces atmospheric and positively melancholic but bright works of art. They are not that well-known at all and they have quite narrow but loyal fanbase. My favourite song from them is The Neverending Story which is in my books up to these days the gold standard of its genre. Lunatica will most probably release their new album this year and based on one video update it sounded delicious so it is must-have.

• 2. Dark Moor
  
Dark Moor are Spanish neoclassical/symphonic power metal band founded in 1993. Their long career has brought many of the genres most unappreciated masterpieces alive and have influenced my songwriting tremendously. My favourite song of theirs is Beyond the Fire from their second album Hall of the Olden Dreams released in 2000.

• 1. Virgin Steele
  
Virgin Steele are US barbaric romantic metal band founded in 1981 and it is led by ever-so charismatic David DeFeis. Their music is influenced by classical music of all times, blues, mythologies and traditional metal. The band has been my favourite over a decade. I have always thought that this band is perfect example of maturing band. Their songs and music have grown so much in the years they’ve been in the art and the song Necropolis (He Answers Them with Death) from their latest release The Black Light Bacchanalia (2010). Virgin Steele will release their new album this June and it will be called Nocturnes of Hellfire & Damnation.
