This is what happens when you invest in a man-child cave instead of a man cave. You run around unnecessarily getting stuff you don't need to horde and potentially make a future profit. Although I've never seen it in person, this is the kind of fool that goes in on release day and dumps everything newly available into his cart. The plan has backfired since the Kaos trap is no longer the catch it once was...the only thing that'll net a little bit of profit for him is the $13 gold Mario which goes for between $30-35 on EBay...still chump change after figuring in time, shipping costs, & Ebay fees. I saw a few gold Mario figures at a Walmart in the Baltimore area over the weekend, so some areas still have him readily available...just not the areas common with cut-throat scalpers.

Pretty sure a box of traps or three fell into his lap. I dont buy he's been "collecting them" as he has too many of one type.

Scalpers of gold mario a likely targeting international buyers as it's a US exclusive.

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought perhaps he had a lot of 170+ water traps on ebay. That I could totally believe happening someday.

It's possible, but not likely. When I got my wave 4 at TRU on release day, there were at least 4 dozen Kaos traps on the sprues. I was curious so I did a quick eBay check and it was flooded with Kaos traps. Over the next few days and week, auctions with no minimum bids were ending with no bidders on them.

I'd have sworn I remember seeing bids on that auction, though. Unless eBay's rules have changed, I thought that the seller was "obligated" to sell and couldn't just end the auction after it had begun and someone had bid. If that's still the case and I did see bidders, I guess we now know for certain that this guy uses shill bidders. -Doug

If an auction is ended by the seller, bids will be removed and the price reverts to the starting bid.

There is a point in the auction where the seller can't end it, though.

Ehh... Some of the new skylanders have impeccable quality, like the sort you'd easily pay $100+ for at a Comic Book shop, for an established character's figurine that serves NO purpose other than eye candy

The gold Mario dropped in price pretty quickly. Starting at $100+ down to approx $35 in a matter of weeks. The $35 price is not too bad if I really wanted one, but didn't want to pay highly inflated prices. Regardless, no sympathy for scalpers that get burned with excess stock. If scalpers bought large amounts of Kaos traps in this last wave, then they need to rethink how scalping works. Kaos traps were plentiful and that totally ruined resell value.
