I'm talking about the people in their late teenage years to thirties who watch the show on their own choice. More so the "bronies" (including the women too, just don't know the proper term for it).

I watch(ed) the show on my own choice. Does that just automatically make me disgusting? I don't understand. (Also the terms are stupid and pointless, some girls call themselves "pegasisters." Just to be that much more special.)

I'm going to be called out on this, but, it happens to make me think a lot less of you. It's a real maturity/respect/slothful image sort of thing. However, I don't really know you. This is the first day I've seen you post. I can't say that I'm disappointed in you then.

Wow, you think people are less mature because they choose to watch a tv show. Yes, because making that judgement is mature. /sarcasm smilie

I'm neutral in this argument.
The differences between a man watching My Little Pony and a woman watching Transformers are not subtle at the least. I'm speaking for the general public, meaning for the average member of society's views, who is "it" and "happening" as they so call it.
MLP demographic: TV-Y7, youth and up. Depicted as a girl's show. Forget what the creator or whoever the fanbase idols after says, because the average person doesn't know or even remotely care about them. A man is someone who is stereotypically viewed as a masculine, married individual with decent income, someone people believe shouldn't be watching this show. So it's understandable why some people don't get it or feel the need to preach that bronies are wrong.
Transformers (Michael Bay if you must) demographic: PG, for the whole family, maybe unsuitable for some kids. Some people are okay with women watching "dude" stuff, especially guys who share the same interests (ugly term MANCHILD) and others stereotype women for being fashionable and fresh from the beauty parlor, hence it's wrong. Everyone has a different view on peers due to their peripheral of exposure.

Another thing, it's not common to like the show. It seems like it is because of the crazy conglomeration of the fans online. If you stand out, you will not be accepted, it's the sad truth. I deal with this type of situation myself, in the preference of music. Everyone I know listens to rap and pop, and I listen to metal. I'm called out for it. Everyone I know uses iOS and I prefer Android. Suddenly I'm poor for being different.

We all could lighten up a bit with castrating others for their interests.

Like what you like and brace yourselves for the hate. Don't act like a child when someone calls you out and you'll find less traction in their cascade.

There's no difference at all. It's the EXACT same, as I stated.

I think the issue here is that you have some sort of warped mindset that engaging in something anyone can do is creepy if you're a certain gender. Men, women, and people who don't fit in either category shouldn't be assigned what they can and cannot enjoy simply due to their gender. Gender is not a thing that makes liking certain things (like MLP) shameful. It's only shameful if you use your interest to harm others.

You're okay with women doing it, why are men so different? People of all genders should be able to enjoy things they like in peace so long as it isn't hurting anybody. And teenage boys and grown men watching MLP doesn't hurt anybody either way.

A grown women watching Transformers versus a grown man watching MLP is not the same. Please do some logical thinking.

I didn't say I was okay with women watching mlp, dude. I said that no one over the target demographic (kids 6 and under) should be watching it. Can you read a damn post and think?

But what is the logical thought process behind that? To me it seems like it's just a double standard of how women can watch masculine things but men can't watch feminine things.

I hear you on that, man. Western cultures don't tend to bat an eye if a women is interested in something "masculine." But heaven forbid a male likes something society considers feminine. It gets a lot of people up in arms. XP

I like the show. :(
But I'm a girl (and only 18, but I got into the show when I was around 16), so I don't know whether that affects peoples view on me lol.

lol I kind off stopped watching the show after season 2. I'm still a fan (I have a large RD toy on my desk lol) but I just don't have time to continue watching it at the moment. :
I guess I like it because of the fact that when I first watched it, I was like 'oh, MLP, yeah this is going to be a childish little girl show. Lets see why so many people love it.' And then it turned out to not be as childish as I thought and actually good and pretty addicting. And I loved the characters and I could relate to Twilight and Fluttershy a lot (and Rainbow to an extent), so I was kind of shocked that it had the MLP title, since I've always thought that MLP was a little girl thing. And I've tried watching the other MLP shows before this one but just couldn't get into them, they had a different feel compared to the latest gen.

And I see boys liking MLP equal to girls liking Pokemon (more so than Transformers). Yet no one seems to be all like 'lol why do girls like pokemon???'. Pokemon even has an option for girls to play as a female avatar rather than the boy since the second gen.

And I agree with the current debate going on. I don't see why guys should be so judged for liking 'feminine things', yet no one cares when a girl likes something boyish. It's just like how girls who are a tomboy are considered as 'awesome' by many if they're a character in a TV show (like Rainbow Dash for instance). And no one cares about any woman in real life who have a boyish personality or plays video games, and no one cares when a woman wears very boyish clothing. But god forbid that a boy acts girly. He's considered a weirdo by both man and woman, people think 'wtf???', and he must not wear anything that's girly otherwise he must be gay. Ok people do tend to think that tomboys must be lesbians, but it's no wear near as bad as the opposite gender.

I'm only fourteen but I admit it is addicting in a way. I don't watch MLP anymore but I could see why people obsess over it.

Why does it matter why people watch it? If you wonder why they are so interested in it, why not ask a person who watches it? People have different interests and not everyone shares the same ones. I just respect what other people enjoy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else's feelings or is something that is cruel.

People like what they like. There's nothing you can do to force some people to stop liking something because it seems weird or strange to you. It's not hurting you in any way. It may seem completely normal to them and bizarre to you, but that's just the way it is.

And about ages and all that, there isn't an age restriction or something like that to any kids TV shows. Any age can enjoy shows like this and many like to. I am not personally bothered by people who are older and watch MLP or any shows like that simply because they're not bothering me with it. I just accept the fact that they like what they like and that's basically it. I honestly don't care.

Some people may not seem "mature" by watching it or talking about it or WHATEVER they happen to do, but there's really nothing you can do. If you're going to complain, I'm sorry but there are people who have a different way of thinking and feeling. That's all I think about this
