TL ; DR Should I sell all my alt-path dupes to buy amiibo?

Already posted this elsewhere, but no harm asking for more opinions. I collect a second set of the Skylanders which can't swap paths, in order to have both available and ready- up to TT (when I stopped collecting every variant), that includes dupes of LightCores and ingame variants in addition to the regulars, anything that can't swap paths- but I really wonder wether I want them any more.

I don't like seeing duplicates of the exact same toys on my shelves, which clashes with lore and looks boring. I almost never want to play different paths on any characters, because usually I prefer one heavily and my preferences barely change between games- plus, resetting and maxing different paths once in a while sounds fun (and there's always Skylanders Editor). Also, I just don't play the games much now. So I'm thinking of selling off my second set and not buying any more dupes. They waste a lot of space and money.

Here's the list of pre-TT Skylanders (because I barely know anything about TT's paths) which don't have some repose or variant to keep the second path ready. Ones I bolded are the ones that'd bother me most and I italicised those where I dislike using the Skylander or one of their paths.
Ghost Roaster, Dino-Rang, Sunburn, Voodood, Boomer, Swarm, Eye-Brawl (though he doesn't count since I have the Halloween variant), Fright Rider, Thumpback, Boom Jet, Pop Thorn, Scratch, Stink Bomb, Grilla Drilla, Roller Brawl, Rubble Rouser, Doom Stone, Scorp (but I also have the green variant anyway), Rip Tide, Punk Shock, Trap Shadow, Dune Bug, Spy Rise and Wind-Up.

What do you think? Worth it? I could just get dupes of certain characters, but the inconsistency would drive me crazy. smilie

I'd skip out of SF dupes and focus on amiibo. You basically gave the best reason in your first paragraph.

Hey is there anything you want me to bring for the rest of the week and if so it’s so cool that you can do something and just do it like that

I say sell most of them, especially Lighcore dupes. As you said, it's fun to reset once you're done having fun with a path, and it gives a bit more of play time to try and level the skylander up without a useful attack or buff that you were so used to. Pretty sure with that many of them you can even save up to buy some SKL5 guys, unless you're looking for some of the rarer amiibos.

Keep the dupes for a few more years and sell them as rare skylanders

I say screw amiibos. Way worse on scalping than skylanders. Way harder to find pointless for the most part in games.

I still have to find somebody to give me a decent response on what real value an Amiibo has other than "they're collectors figures." You can't play as them which puts them leagues behind Skylanders and Disney Infinity, yet people go nuts for them...and by people, I don't mean children...the market is mostly teenagers, college kids, and adult men.

You can play them in Smash and train them to be incredibly stupid or incredibly clever, and they unlock stuff in their own games. The other real value is being merch, which for most people is good enough reason - I mean for some it's probably the cheapest way to get some more obscure franchise's figures without trading in your soul.

I'm so glad I never got into Infinity or Amiibo. Not sure I could keep up with them all.

AoA...it's your collection...your toys...your choice.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.
