On topic, hopefully the card thing will only be used if necessary. And its good that 5.7 million amiibos were sold, this shows that they're thriving. Plus, they were only launched in November as well

^Not to mention that 5.7 million are reportedly only for the end of last year. That means it doesn't include sales from January and February, meaning it could be significantly higher now with the release of wave 3.

Also the card thing, according to that quote, supposedly would come with the figures, not as a replacement for them. Good.

I think the card idea is rather stupid. Part of the fascination towards figures such as Amiibo, Skylanders, and the such isn't so much the playability with the game as it is the figure itself. I lack a WiiU or New3DS to allow use for them as truly intended, I'm more interested in the collecting aspect and should I ever get a compatible system will use them, until then I will enjoy the figure for being that, a figure.

The thought of enough demand leading to a rerelease of certain characters is good. Where do we go to try and ask for all the unicorn tier ones? A survey type thing where we can say what we'd like to see in the event of a rerelease would be great. Of course that list of what sold out fastest should be clue enough as to what needs it.

I wouldn't mind the cards as long as
A: Figures are also available
B: They are cheaper
I'd actually enjoy it as I could buy say 2 marios just to train them differently or give them a different color. This woul also allow me to buy the chaecters I don't care about as much( with money left for the characters like Mario, King DDD, an Pikachu.

So many people are calling their Best Buys and finding out that many of them are not only not doing a ticketing system for people who line up for Meta Knight on Friday, but also won't have any purchase limits, completely underestimating how crazy this **** can be.

Wouldn't be surprise if Nintendo made all the other characters into cards (including rare smash characters) just so they could produce more mario figures. We already have SSB MArio, Cosmic SSB Mario, Metal SSB Mario, Super Mario, Gold Super Mario, and Silver Super Mario.

Also, I am now legitimately worried about getting Meta Knight... Unless I can find a guy willing to trade for a Japanese WFT I'm screwed.

Going by Skylanders (Amiibo are different, but still....), Walmart seems to stock their variants best. If this goes anything like it does with Skylanders, golden Mario will be the best stocked Amiibo ever, being readily available for months after its release.

Has anyone wondered what the Mr. Game and Watch amiibo will look like? Like, how would they make it super thin but not made out of paper?

^Someone made a rarity/speculation chart that you can see here. It has a fan made image of how the G&W amiibo could look like, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go that route with the real deal.

Yes they can, but they can only have one saved file. You can use them in either MP10 or SSB4, but not both.

Mario Party also lets you write data to your Amiibos (you use them as board pieces in Amiibo Party, and can equip items to them to give them advantages on the board). Because of this, you will need to delete Smash Bros data to use an Amiibo as your board piece in Amiibo Party.

Unlocking boards for Amiibo Party is a "read-only" feature, and you won't need to delete Smash Bros data to unlock them. You could, for example, use Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Peach as actual player pieces (requiring you to delete Smash Bros data), but only use Yoshi, Rosalina, Wario, and DK to unlock their respective boards (meaning you won't have to delete their Smash Bros data).

Also, other Smash Amiibos of non-Mario characters will also be usable in a "read-only" manner in Mario Party, but Nintendo has not revealed what they will do yet. There is an "Amiibo Bonus" option on the main menu though, so I assume that's what it relates to.

And yeah, Smash and Mario Party are the only games with a "write" function so far. You won't need to delete data to use Amiibo with any other currently compatible games.

I've wondered this myself. In my mind, I picture a clear 3D form (like the head would be a sphere), but inside this model is the 2D G&W.

Regardless, G&W is one I look forward to and plan to pre-order ASAP.
