Hey everyone,

I've been away for quite awhile now since I had decided to get out of the franchise after Swap Force but I've found myself once again drawn back into it haha. Anyways, I've been trying to build my collection back up and have been scouring for deals everyday. I noticed yesterday that gamestop has really dropped their prices on some figures, such as:

And a bunch of other 3-pacs as well for each game. Now I called Gamestop and they told me they don't match their online prices which I think is really dumb, but okay whatever. My wife and I decided to head down to the Toys R Us in Mechanicsburg, PA to check out their stock and see what we could find. Though we didn't find any Clear Tuff Lucks , we did end up getting the manager to price match ALL of Gamestop's deals.

Overall we spent $47.39 but got $185.89 in actual product. I literally just walked up to the guy and asked him if he priced match, he said yes, then I showed him Gamestop's website and he said he would match it.

All of the products we got are:

Tower of Time $5.97 (At Best Buy)
Arkeyan Crossbow $7.97
Sheep Wreck Island $7.97
Fiery Forge $7.97

Overall we got really lucky, but it did happen so it might be worth a shot at your local Toys R us!

hell i just bought sheep wreck island and arkeyan crossbow for 34 bucks total off amazon but if they will do this deal i think im just going to go there. I just started my collection with trap team so i got alot of stuff to catch up on.

welp i tried it and they shot me down, called a few other store and all said they dont match to gamestop. From the looks of it you got super lucky, I even talked to the manager. Man i was going to get like $150 for like $50, now im sad.

That sucks, yeah I think I did just get super lucky.

It's probably a YMMV since they are out of stock online, too. I don't even see Sheep Wreck Island anywhere. We were still needing that adventure pack for Swap Force. I even tried looking on other sites and could only find it on Amazon.

I think i saw a few sheep wreak islands at toys r us but yea i got it of amazon for 15 bucks, alot cheaper than toys r us.

quick edit: wallmart.com had the tower of time and fiery forge for 19.37 online and toys r us was willing to match that. Not a huge discount but its 6 bucks off each, it even beats there buy 1 get 1 40% off deal by about 3 dollars. Also they had a buy a water trap get any trap for 1 dollar deal. Once i read it i looked at the traps, they had 100+ but 80 of them were water, i guess no one wants water traps or they overstocked the hell out of them.

I'm kind of shocked that TRU did that for you. I worked there about 10 years ago, and we never price matched anything. I don't even think a normal employee would be allowed to do that. You must have gotten a manager who was in a very good mood. Is that a busy TRU? Any place near where I live is super busy and sells its stock easily; they would have no reason to ever price match anything because they'll always sell at full price here. I've never even seen a Skylander item on clearance.

I was meaning YMMV on getting them for the prices in the OP, including getting someone to price match, because they were sold out.

Toys R Us has price matched for several years, now. It's probably been less than 10 years, though, that they started it. Gamestop.com isn't on their list of online retailers, but I guess that's up to the cashier/manager. Here's their price match policy:

Tower of Time for 6 bucks, whoa! Too bad it's not available for pickup anywhere in my area :/ I wonder if I could find a store to price match the Tower of Time, that would be an amazing deal.

It was a manager who price matched it for me, it was the electronics manager. It is the toys r us in Mechanicsburg, PA. They aren't terribly busy and they are pretty big. He told me he wanted to get rid of his swap force stock and so was down to price match. I had actually called earlier that day and they said they would only match in stock online items but I was near so I stopped in just because.

FRY's Electronics does online price matching.

interesting, i couldnt find a list of places they will match to and there stock on skylanders was clear as mud online. Everything is assorted so no telling what they have unless you call or go in.

They won't price match Amazon.

they do pm amazon and yet they dont. they will match the amazon direct company but they will not match 3rd party vendors. alot of the older figures are sold by 3rd parties so no price matching there.

Well, I don't consider 3rd party vendors as Amazon as they aren't really Amazon. That should be standard procedure for any retailer that price matches. But, I guess, one should be clear on that, since Walmart employees weren't smart enough to figure that out when they started price matching Amazon and people were getting PS4's for really cheap.

And what about Scratch??? No 3rd party seller on Amazon is going to give you a reasonable price on a Scratch. Amazon 3rd party is an EBay alternative. Amazon directly hasn't had Scratch for sale in a very long time!
