Quote: vinzclortho37I have to say I'm really surprised this topic is still going. I get that people have gone a little off-topic and that's OK, but the lull in releases is not new at all. This downtime happened with all the previous games, which makes me wonder if it is the newer collectors that are upset. I even said to my wife before Christmas, "OK, I'm going to get the light and dark packs, and with maybe one or two exceptions, I'm done buying until late February or March." I got Love Potion Pop Fizz and the Rebel Lob Goblin trap since then, and I've got all the ones already released so...
I just can't believe the outrage when this is the fourth year in a row things have shaken out exactly like this.
...and like I said before, Skylanders collectors have it easy when compared to amiibo people. Extremely limited runs, a scalping problem fifty times worse than any Skylanders has ever seen and discontinued characters... it is a total disaster. You know Roslina from Mario Bros.? She is a Target exclusive that came out this past Sunday, and most Targets didn't receive enough to sell to everyone who had lined up in the freezing cold before opening. As if that wasn't bad enough, there is an internal Target memo going around saying that the stock they got on Sunday was it - there will be no more Rosalinas. Ever. They are discontinued. The same thing may be happening with the Toys R Us Lucario exclusive, and Best Buy probably won't even get enough Meta Knights to honor the preorders, let alone anyone who walks in off the street... and Shulk at Gamestop will probably share the same fate.
Kind of puts a 1-2 month wait into perspective, doesn't it?
I'm an amiibo collector as well as a Skylander collector - the only amiibo I'm missing is Marth, and just like I've always done with Skylanders, I refuse to pay any more than MSRP for any toy. Paying scalpers only makes the problem worse.
Well, remember that Amiibos are at their first time.
Skylanders had its distribution problems too, back in the SA period.
But yes, having all the characters available from start, or even just in a 4 or 5 weeks wouldn't probably stop the complaints.
Now is "I couldn't complete the game until Knight Light and Knight Mare came out! Dumb choice...".
That way it would have been "What's the point of go buying more Skylanders, next month, if I already have all the ones I want...? What am I going to do, until Skylanders 5 is released, since I already 100% the game and maxed out each character? Dumb choice...".
With the traps, I do think they didn't handled them in the best way possible.
But again, it's their first time releasing single packs of Items that are not unique playable characters, and you will probably have all the traps you want, in a couple months.
Yes, even the Kaos one.
The fans of this franchise should have learned to be patient, by now.
