If you like Skylanders (which your name implies), get Spyro's Adventure. It's easily the best of the 3DS games in the series- a bit on the short side, but absolutely great while it lasts and cheap enough to find now. It's fast-paced, feels very fluid and has solid polish.
SF was decent, TT was meh, Giants was bad. I honestly think the Pokémon games are overrated and X/Y are some of the worst in the series. They feel too easy and XY has a very weak plot, even for Pokémon standards. The main thing that makes it stand out in the mostly-mediocre Pokémon stories is the pacing, which is all over the place: the first couple gyms are fairly slow, then Mega Evolution then Team Flare and suddenly towards the end Team Flare are essentially forgotten and the game is over in a flash with a lacking League fight. The online is good, but without that I think I would've been soured from the series and ignored ORAS. From what I've played so far, ORAS are definitely better, though they aren't in my favourite Pokémon games either.

I agree with everyone saying not to get Pokemon X/Y. The only thing I love about X and Y is the mega evolution, the Pokemon and legendaries (especially Espurr and family), changing your character's appearance and the updated 3D graphics. Other than that, it's mediocre in every other department. There are no memorial characters except for Korrina, the rivals suck (except Calem/Serena), the storyline is bad (if it even had one), the champion sucks, Team Flare is the worse villain team, etc. Thank god they remade my favourite gen to keep me loving the Pokemon series, because X/Y really let me down considering B/W was brilliant. I hope they do a Pokemon Z and fix all the problems that occurred with X/Y.
The Black and White series was a step in the right direction IMO, so I don't know how they ended up with X/Y after creating a generation with so much emphases on story and characters. I admit most of the pokemon you ether love or hate though. Anyway, I recommend all 3DS Zelda games (A Link Between Worlds and Majora's Mask) and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. and play fire emblem awakening on valentines day if you're alone

If you don't already have Kid Icaris Uprising, then do NOT get it. It's an overrated game and you will probably regret buying it.
Also, Black/White put TOO MUCH emphasis on story and not enough on the total package. With all the story, there was basically no room for diversions or anything fun to look forward to. Once you got to the city with the Battle Subway, there was basically nothing else to look forward to in the entire game. No Battle Frontier, no Contests, no in-game secret bases, no in-game berry growing, no in-game ANYTHING except that sissy Pokemon Musical, a dumb Pokestar Studios thing that's just more battling, and a Pokemon World Tournament that is a pretty poor substitute for Battle Frontier. X/Y Actually had more gameplay, and more things to do overall. While all the diversions aren't as good as, say, the Ruby/Sapphire games, they're still MILES ahead anything in the Black/White games. I'd rather have a better gaming package than just a game with more story and more of the same. Though I do agree, the plot was pretty bad, especially since the villain was yet another dried up, cliched, overused Misanthropic villain that we've seen a guh-zillion times already. ...But really, Black/White's villains weren't ANY better. |

I actually thought X/Y was great, and it renewed my interest in the series after the massive disappointment that was B/W to me. The only positive B/W really had was the best story the series has ever seen (even though the protagonists were morons), but otherwise it felt so similar to previous games to where I got bored and it took me several years of on and off playing to finish it.
X/Y on the other hand felt like a breath of fresh air to me. Super Training made otherwise advanced and complicated forms of training more simplified for casuals like me. Pokemon Amie was a nice new feature. Mega evolutions are interesting and creative. And while the story sucked, I honestly find that to be par for the course for Pokemon games (B/W raised the bar). I'm also aware that the game is considered to have no post story content, but quite honestly I have felt that way about every Pokemon game. Once I finish the story of a Pokemon game I don't find much to do other than catch what I didn't already catch and grind for eternity (at which point the only things that raise your level significantly is fighting the E4 again). So X/Y didn't bother me in that aspect; not when I immediately jumped into ORAS after finishing. That being said, while I haven't gotten very far in it yet, I do agree that ORAS took everything X/Y did and improved on it. The fact that they brought back Super Training and Amie is such a nice thing. If Pokemon games got cheaper in price over time I would recommend starting with X/Y first. Unfortunately they don't, so you may as well just jump straight to ORAS. Quote: MugoUrth
I've been playing Uprising lately after having got it on Club Nintendo and I already think it's one of the best titles the 3DS has to offer. The controls take a little getting used to but once you do there's a lot of reward in it, loads of different weapons to collect and use, a good (though chaotic) multiplayer mode, and amusing banter during gameplay. Is it worth the $70 that people are charging for a new copy? Probably not. But if you can get it on the eShop or Club Nintendo I definitely recommend it. |

No, whenever I call something overrated, that means I think it's bad too. The clunky controls, unlikeable characters and the cliched and completely overused "Humans are teh absolute good/oh so mizundurstud" type plots made the game unplayable for me, but the the clunky, generic gameplay was what pretty much ruined it for me. I find it odd that basically anything that has "humans are teh absolute good" type plots automatically become "teh best thing evah" regardless of how good or bad the gameplay is. Me, personally, I am sick and tired of those kind of plots. They're like driving nails into my brain. |
