Hey everyone. ...Well, the title basically says it all. I'm not sure if this belongs in the Trap Team forums or not, but if not then I'm totally cool with any Hunters out there moving it. But anyway, yeah, these are my ideas for Sky5, please tell me what you think!
So anyway, let's start off with...
MORE EXPLORATION BASED
One thing I don't like about Skylanders is how linear the levels are. They are fun linear levels, but it would be nice to have a little variety. So these levels are much more expansive than previous games and encourage exploring them. In fact, why stop there? Why not have multiple ways to complete a level so no two playthroughs of the level has to be the same?
HEROIC CHALLENGES
And I don't just mean for new characters. Every time you put a Skylander on the portal for the first time in the game, it'll unlock a new Heroic Challenge. These challenges will be designed around specific characters, so while any Skylander can play in any Heroic Challenge and beat it, the Skylander you used to unlock that Heroic Challenge will be the best at it and most possible to beat it. For example, you put Tread Head on the portal and it unlocks a racing challenge that would be great for Tread Head, but not necessarily for a slower character like Eruptor. Only restriction is you cannot use villains.
SWIMMING
Because it's the little things that count. This time around however, ANY Skylander or villain can swim in ANY body of water. Though there's more to it than that. Obviously Water element Skylanders and villains are superior at this and swim faster than other Skylanders, while Fire element Skylanders and villains take damage if they try swimming. Also, heavier Skylanders, such as Crusher, can only swim for a few seconds before they sink and respawn.
CHARACTER ABILITIES
You know how in the LEGO video games every character has a different set of abilities? I thought that could fit nicely in here. So here's what I was able to come up with:
-Digging (All Earth, Fright Rider, Funny Bone, Hot Dog, Slobber Trap)
-Gliding (All Air, all winged, Blackout, Blast Zone, Hoot Loop, Spotlight, Thumpback, Thumpling, Zoo Lou)
-Stealth (Nightshade, Stealth Elf, Stink Bomb, Sunburn, Trap Shadow)
-Super Strength (All giants, Head Rush, Wallop)
Of course this'll also apply to the new characters they introduce.
(Swap Force Skylanders have these abilities linked through their bottom halves)
ONLINE POSSIBILITIES
Obviously bringing back PvP and making it online compatible would be nice.
If they bring back the Arena Challenges, the very last one should be an endless arena that gets tougher the more waves you go through. When your Skylander is defeated, it shows you your score and how high you rank with other Portal Masters.
SKYLANDERS PARTY
This one may be a bit of a stretch, but basically it's a separate multiplayer-only mode in a Mario Party style where two to four players can play. All it takes is four Skylanders on the portal. Before the party begins, players will get to choose a villain assist to basically act like a bonus effect or trap on the board (for example, Chompy Mage leaves behind a pit of Chompies, Bad Juju lets you electrocute anyone you walk past, Rage Mage slows down your number roll, etc.). Then you know the drill, go around the board, play minigames, collect the shinies, argue with your friends and family, win (or lose).
Aaaaaand that's all I got for now. So yeah, tell me what you think of my ideas if you want to.

Would agree this probably should have been in the other recent You are in charge thread but wanted to comment about the heroic challenges. There were 50 heroic challenges as of Giants. We had 48 unique characters then. We add 32 more in Swap Force and Trap Team is going to have 36 (top of my head) if you exclude the minis. So 118 unique characters not counting whatever is in Skylanders 5. I am all for a lot of heroic challenges but if you get in a situation like Giants where each character had to get 50 heroic challenges (or 45 if they could not go into the first game), that is a bit much, more than a bit much.
I'd like it though if every character had their own heroic challenge though. Personally I wish they had an online element which was often updated that characters could join in and do stuff there, maybe get items for a limited time or interact with others, a little like Lost Islands and Infinity combined. |

I'd be down for most of this. It's all reasonable things to put into a game. But my question is how would Thumpback and Thumping glide?
