I took an AP class, but it was none of those subjects. You have a lot of work to look forward to, but it's worth it. I wish you lots of luck~

I've taken two AP classes before, so I do know about what AP is like, in general. The two classes I've taken were actually pretty easy. |

i took AP psych last semester. but honestly it kind of depends on your teacher cause my teacher literally taught stuff like twice the whole semester. so im kind of screwed for the AP exam. but psych overall is honestly pretty easy to understand anyway so itll probably still be a breeze

It was a half semester class, so I'm finished with it (exam is not until May, though). It wasn't that hard. It shouldn't be hard for you at all, since you love politics. |

AP Psych was ons of the best and I mean best Ap classes I have ever taken right next to AP US History. I loved both subjects, but the teachers made it soooo much better. Teachers can either make the class really fun or extremely boring.
I am taking IB classes as well. My list of classes: AP Human Geography Ap European History Ap Physics B AP Psychology AP US History AP Calculus IB/AP Biology IB/AP Spanish IV IB English HL 1 and 2 |

Going to agree with Coocie on this one. While my high school didn't offer APs, I have friends at school who either A) had to take the introductory course that they took the AP in anyway or B) had a difficult time in a higher level class after getting credit for their AP. Besides, the AP's are EVIL standardized tests thought up by that accursed College Board. >.<

AP classes reduce the credits you need to earn to graduate from college, provided you get a satisfactory score on the AP exam. Also, at our school, AP classes are made even more desirable because they recently made it so that your grade in AP is given a curve, so if you get a B it counts as an A, so in addition to being helpful for college they also provide "padding" for your GPA. |

Tell me about reducing credits when you go to college and retake all of your AP classes again
I took AP classes and passed the exams with flying colors, however colleges still make you take gen eds and introductory courses depending on your major |

It really depends on the college you go to. Is your college less lenient in terms of credits? Some colleges will accept lower scores, some only accept higher ones. Some don't even care about AP scores, and will make you take their general ed classes regardless. |

Again, the credit thing is a half-truth the College Board is feeding you. Some colleges will offer you credit for a satisfactory score. Others will say the score and course are insufficient, especially if the school is academically rigorous. And if the subject is a year-long one (e.g. physics, calculus, macro and microeconomics), you can be sure that you're not getting the full year's worth of credit. >.>

My college must be weird then because I got full credit from my AP English class, and I was able to jump right to English 202 rather than having to take 101 first. It really depends on the school, honestly. If you don't want time in AP classes to go to waste it's best to research the schools you're interested in to see if they'll take the credits, because they will tell you whether they do or not.

^It also depends on the subject. English is a more widely-accepted one, as are the humanities and social sciences. The physical and life sciences (math, physics, chemistry, biology, A&P, etc.) are less likely to yield the credits. <.<;

^Of course not, because those are much more specific to career fields.
But getting other AP credits can save you a pretty penny. My AP classes helped me get accepted to the university of my dreams, and they accept the credits: I already checked. Don't shatter my innocence yet. |
