I think this is the last skylanders game im getting. Im sick of the slow releases and when they do release they sell out quickly then never restock.
I have given up on ever finding a kaos trap or any light or dasrk traps. Even when Game stop had Skylanders day every game stop I have 4 with in 100 miles of me. 2 in waterloo and one in Cedar Rapids had 0 light and dark expansion packs. found 2 light traps 0 dark. How the hell am i ever going to complete the game if they dont release any of this crap. Its beyond stupid now and has ruined the game for me. Oh yeah and big shock 0 kaos traps

Dark traps arent out individually yet . But yeah I feel you. I still cant find wave 3 traps anywhere, and in half the stores near me, wave 2 traps arent out and theyre still getting wave 1! If, IF there's a fifth game, they'd better see their flaws.

Still pissed off it's taking so long for High Five & Bat Spin to be released in the States. The Frito-Lay High Five Giveaway is already over, yet neither of the above figures are in stores yet.
Hell, wonder how long it will take to release the last two waves if there are so many problems now with releases. Like I said before, they'll probably be finally done with all of TT's releases on the day Skylanders 5 comes out.

Surprisingly, in the UK Skylanders are constantly being restocked. Can't say the same for traps though. But the shortage of Skylanders is nowhere near the shortage of amiibo, trying to find a villager or little mac amiibo is so much harder than trying to find a kaos trap. It's like a toys-to-life drought at the moment!

You guy's need to start buying from amazon.de from Germany they have many new releases that we dont not and if you catch them right you buy them for cost and a few dollars shipping. Works out great and no long wait for the items to come out here in the states. Use google chrome as it translates most of it. Good luck my Batspin will be here this week and I ordered her 6 days ago for 9 euros and 7 euros s/h and I'll be playing her by the weekend.

I'm not annoyed, really, it's all part of the game.
Sure, I'm sad when I enter a store expecting to find some new items... And then get out without anything... But I got used to it, and I'm not impatient. Virtual sellers, like Amazon or eBay, help a lot. Traps do make the thing a bit... Harder to solve. I mean, probably the stores think "what's the problem if the traps have different colors BUT NOT different molds...? It's the same!". And Amazon doesn't help, as the traps always come in random molds. Kaos Trap was hard to find, but let's admit it, not impossible.

Or just being patient instead of freaking out...The dark traps are not released yet, and the dark and light packs were of very limited supply for a reason. They will eventually be very abundant. Same goes for all of those hard to find trap masters. Don't quit just because certain things are not high in stock when you want them to be.

I will also add... they stagger releases slowly so that they can have higher stock of each skylander. You think if they released all figures first day that you would be able to get them all? the answer is no. it would mean that stores would only put out 1 or none of certain figures. For skylanders patience is 100% required due to its diversity.

I'm not certain what to make of it all. It is souring me from Sky 5 and if they do limited Amiiboo-like releases and make certain ones so hard to get, especially ones which makes necessary content unlock, then I'm out.
I'm just hoping they'll scale everything back to about half their normal release size as it does seem that Skylanders is loosing some steam as well as store space to other brands.

ok well i think your first issue is going to gamestop. I have a love hate relation ship with them. They never have the new stuff until close to a month after other stores get it and there stock is close to nothing. Only reason i go there is because i can check there inventory easily and they got that buy 6 get one $10 off, a few good deal here and there but not much.
But i got light and dark expansion day one at Toys r US. Wave 3 at target the day before Christmas and i got my kaos trap at target as well just by asking one of the employes if they can check in the back. Gamestops had a 3-4 foot section of all there skylanders stuff. Target had 16 foot section. Toys r Us had close to 50+ feet of skylanders from all the games. Bigger section means they sell though stuff faster and get restock/new stuff alot sooner. Ive never once seen the wave 3 or light/dark at gamestop yet ive seen them often in target and Toys r Us. Dont relay on a one stop shop. Go to Toys r Us, target, best buy and other local stores. Also, call ahead to gamestops, they will look for you and put stuff on hold so you dont waist your time driving there only to find its not there. |

Don't forget, neither Activision or Nintendo have the money, or distribution, like Disney does. Yet, the two TRU I go to still have tons DI 1.0 on their shelves, along with DI 2.0 (both originals & Marvel).
Recently, 3 for MSH were released: Ronan & Yondu for Guardians, Green Goblin for Spider Man. Next week, Jasmine comes out single pack as well as a two-pack with Aladdin & two Aladdin-themed power discs. But if you compare the three, Nintendo is worse off than Skylanders when it comes to figures. Already, they have figures that are no longer being made because the demand is way too high. DI just doesn't measure up to Amiibo or STT. It's very limited and, with the vast catalog of characters Marvel has, there's not a really good variety of figures out there. Nova? Iron Fist? Really. What about X-Men? Nope. Fantastic Four? Nada. She-Hulk? Yeah, right. The only female characters they have for DI 2.0 MSH is Black Widow & Gamorra.....that's it. No Jean Grey, Storm or Rogue. If any of the three toys-to-life games bite the dust first, it will be Infinity unless they really improve the game and not totally rely on the Toy Box aspect.

Not with Infinity 3 that's for sure. People are expecting it to be massively popular and in demand, beating Skylanders hands down thanks to Star Wars, which has always been a killer of a toy franchise. That's sort of the trouble with Infinity. They don't really have to improve anything nor offer any new gameplay as long as they can just bank on offering toys from that years hottest new films. There is a few new Star Wars films planned for the next 10 (or whatever) years and there are always several animated films planned a year, as well as nearly a hundred year history of Disney to fall back on if they really wanted to do that. It'll be hard for Infinity to fail unless the video game market takes a nose dive or they produce a game so horrible and obviously cheap that will drive the fans away. The main trouble is always never producing all the characters that people want, they have several thousand to pick from and how many per game? About 40 to 60? With Skylanders, people will loose interest in the novelty of the toys-to-life concept and will need something more to convince them to stay. Typically that is a TV show to flesh out the characters and create demand for a few more years or some big event film every few years. Some mishandled series close to their end of life tends to install some radical concept hoping it'll work out but in the end it becomes greatly hated and kills the series off. "Jumping the Shark" you know? Skylanders may become Spacelanders for future installments. If you see a radical change of scenery like this, then you know the end is near. I'm hoping they'll have a TV series or a film instead of trying some radical change in the product. Amiiboo's I just cannot see how they could possibly survive without change. Seriously, the toys don't really do a whole lot in Smash Bros, but for now it doesn't seem to really matter at all to the fans as the concept is so new and quaint to the fans. But that won't keep them buying for very long. They'll realize that there are no future plans here for what they are buying. Seriously, would you actually want to use some of these characters like the Wii Fit Trainer in future games? And what sort of games will they be? Next year's Mario Party? How dull will that be?! I'm hoping that this was a test run product for Nintendo and they'll release something better for the future or else fans will see this exactly for what it is, a quick cash grab. I wish they would make a Skylanders type game, but I'm thinking they'll just end up with an Infinity type one with a few special character driven levels and their own toybox world for the extremely odd characters to go play in. It's why I never got into Infinity as I feel I should be able to play my characters in any level no matter how out of place they would be. The toybox function just doesn't interest me at all.

I would say Disney's customer acquisition costs per customer are lower, but I feel Activision's customers are perhaps as a base more solid than Infinity, which will ebb and flow depending on the franchise on the plate. I kinda like the fact that the story of Skylands is unfolding before us, as opposed to pre-written scripts in Infinity. This and 99 cents will buy you a cup of coffee.

Ok, no.
Star Wars is definitely not gonna instantly make DI3 a success. If the third game "innovates" as much as the second, then the situation will remain the same, no matter what worldwide franchise they put inside it. And remember that an increased sale doesn't necessarily means that the game is great and successful. Just that collectors and kids rushed inside the stores to but their favorite characters. It might be an interesting strategy, but on the other hand, we have Skylanders. A series that objectively innovates itself with each entry. A series who sees the birth of new, original and creative characters that fans quickly begin to love and feeling connected to, every single year. A series that had no background of any sort, before the release of Spyro's Adventure, and managed to capture the hearts of a vast group of customers. That's what makes Skylanders so great, to me.

I do find the "slow releases" complaint funny. And yes, if it bothers you then you simply haven't been paying attention - because every year is exactly the same. And it isn't really all that slow, we have less than 20% of the figures remaining, three months later - heaven forbid they try to stretch out the excitement for their game to last more than a couple months.
And every January stores slow down shipments to do inventory and the Chicken Littles proclaim the sky is falling because they cannot find something and swear that this year they are leaving the game. And every year by mid February, stores are restocked and people start complaining that those figures they could not find previously are all they see and they want Wave 4 stuff to hurry the heck up. It gets old, so if you are going don't let the door pop you in the rear on the way out. If you are staying, get your OCD in check and try and remember a little further back than four seconds ago. Quote: Insane01
Another doom and gloomer. It won't be October before they are all out, it will be like April. The only time they did that was with LC Hex, and that was a pre-order bonus after they couldn't get lightcores to move that year. Seriously, you could have had Bat Spin and High Five a month ago for about 15 bucks in shipping. If it bothers you that much, go get it - I went in with a friend and split shipping and now we both have Bat Spin. |

I actually did, defpally. I found someone in the US, on the east coast, on EBay for $40 w/ free shipping. I said to myself, "If I can get a NIB Snowderdash for $130 from someone in China, then $40 for a Bat Spin isn't too shabby." Beats buying her overseas and paying for shipping for one figure. Plus I've seen her for $75 as well on EBay & Amazon.
Doom & gloomer? I'm simply . &. ,bub. Hence, Insane01.

$40 for a single Bat Spin? Wow. Stop using EBay, you just paid a big premium for someone to order off Amazon.de for you. Me and a friend spent the equivalent of just over $30 total after conversion for two of them. Seriously, it's not all that hard to do and the worst that can happen is it takes a couple extra weeks to go through customs.

The slow releases in general don't bother me, keeps my son and I busy looking forward to new figures through the year. the weekend "hunts" at all the different locations/retailers is fun.
What did piss me off was the waiting for the mystery elements (dark n light) and having to go back and complete levels all throughout the game. I hate the idea of not being able to complete levels due to product not being on the market yet. Will we stop playing, no.... |

No.
Why? 1) You can already access everything 2) You only need ONE trap of any element - so I have my one dark and one light, screw buying more, I learned my lesson when I bought additional water and magic traps. 3) It's just MORE money. 4) If I'm sick of the current characters, I have a hundred or so older characters I can still retreat to. Can it be annoying? Sure. but it doesn't actually affect gameplay. I mean I'm gonna be honest...Kaos is skrong like REALLY skrong, to the point that he ruins playing as 90% of the villains. The light and dark trap masters look cool as hell, but in reality - Knight Light boils down to any other melee character with a slow debuff depending on path, and Knightmare, frankly is super underwhelming - at least her horn path is. And wile it's not meant as an insult to players who like them, my point is - you aren't missing 'that much' by not having easy access to Kaos and the Light/Dark. - Unreall |

Yes.
When you finish the game the fun left is in the collecting and levelling up new figures. Start with a tiny number of new figures, some pointless overpriced plastic blocks (traps) and then make them almost completely unavailable with crazy release schedules and no information. It becomes an exercise in frustration and has pretty much killed the fun for me and my boys. |

Yeah people should stop complaining.
WAVES The point of the waves is too give everyone a chance to buy characters in that wave for a couple of months. If their wasn't specfic waves, their would be even more really rare skylanders you wouldn't be able to find. And the figures will always be released this way, coz it helps maintains people's interest in the game and actually increases the amount of play time you get out if each game. And really as far as hard to find characters go... I appreciate the hunting aspect. trying to find rare characters in store is literally part of the skylanders game. If you don't like it , maybe skylanders isn't the game for you anyway. TRAPS trying to get all the trap molds is relatively pointless unless your a major figure collector as well. You only need 1 of each element. And even then the villains don't really provide much extra content. They give you an alternate simple character to play, which is kind of redundant in a game where we already have over 100 characters character choices anyway. They arnt vital to the game at all.

If I could go back in time, I'd limit myself to one trap per element. I bought two out the gate, and with the TRU sale it didn't 'burn' my pockets, but in reality, I play as Doom Raiders, or Pain-Yatta, or Hood-Sickle...I'll tip my hat that my son likes Blaster-Tron. I'm not saying all the villains suck or anything like that, just the reality of playing is that outside of trying to evolve certain villains, its virtually 'never' that I need two of an element. As for the release schedule, it's not even just to maintain interest - there are actual manufacturing concerns. They can only do so much at once. On top of that, there are retail concerns, if the shelves are flooded, there isn't ROOM to get everything on there. Also, as mentioned, the majority of the figures are out, we are missing like what 12 characters? out of 57? That's almost 80% are out now. It's REALLY not that serious... - Unreall |

Also the sheer quantity of toys in this release provide a means for fans to "self correct" their desires, as there's sometimes only so much budget to acquire.

Sure, I totally planned ahead and got the dark edition, i waited up at midnight for the light and dark packs but in the end I can only say i'm just lucky because i have a nice job, a family that understands and a little more free time then most. This has been the harshest release on any I think. Making 2 new elements, discontinuing them; making a trap for a character tons of kids want to play as and not providing enough to go around: it's brutal. And in this way sort of abusive. BUT Those with hindsight can always prepare for next time. I feel like i've always lucked out; sure i can't find tuff-luck and have never found a chaser, but I have a nice collection. I got the dark light crypt when it came out and got the pack with sunburn for free, found polar whirl wind when i went on vacation far from my home and couldn't find her near home. Sure, im a little upset and i totally understand how horrible it can be who can't get crucial parts of their games. It sucks. And i wish activision/toys for bob/ SOMEONE did something about it to ease the pain for them.

In my case, I never really got a problem about the way it is organised. I usually buy them by waves, so only a few at times and I enjoy playing with what I've got. When I buy new Skylanders or traps, it can bring my enjoyment again for a while because of how I am discovering something new and it's interesting enough to me.
It is not really a issue to me and I never lost my interest about Skylanders just because the toys aren't coming instantly to me. |

US got the entire Wave 2 on D1. Europe got it almost a month and a half later. Yes, I think you can wait some extra days, for a couple characters.
